I’ve mates who are season ticket holders at Bradford, and I’ve been to see them quite a few times. I’d say they’re my “English team”, so I’m disappointed they’ve brought in Adams. I hate his face.

I wonder what successes they want him to try to replicate? Over 1000 games as player and manager and not a winners medal to his name. Played the most negative football ever seen in a 460 formation, destroyed half decent young players and orecided over a number of relegation. Maybe he's just going to tell them how NOT to do things

I know a few stories about him but the most recent one that sticks out for me was before a Celtic game - the game after the one BR had criticised their pitch and they'd then laid the hybrid - CL was speaking to me and others lauding the fact BR had already been on the pitch and already commented how long the grass was - CL was laughing because he'd told his groundstaff to keep it long and 'sticky' - I'm all for gaining advantages but that said more about his team, his style, and his approach to the game than anything else. A confident manager (in his team) would want a perfect surface.

A very tall order for Morecambe but I guess they will look to Accrington Stanley for inspiration whose budget in the bottom tier was very similar to Morecambes. Both Morecambe and Stanley have done incredibly well to get to where they are.

The appointment of Tam Courts as Dundee United manager is an interesting one.
Whether he succeeds or not is of no real interest to me,but it makes a refreshing change for a club to give a younger coach a chance rather than going with the usual tired, tried and tested ones (I won’t bother listing who I’m referring to,you all know who they are).

A part of me hopes he's a success (as long as it isn't to the detriment of Hibs obviously). Like you say it's a change from the norm. Have a feeling it won't go well though. I think players need someone who can instantly command a bit of respect. 5 games for Livi in the first division and managing Kelty won't get that. Could be completely wrong mind you.

I get the manager replacing football staff for his own guys but not the kit man. No sporting advantage to be had there.

Every club needs people with a connection to it and Tam was definitely, as you say, living the dream. He was at Hibs in one capacity or another for 30 years and always came across a nice guy. There were posts about Tam and his wife's role at the club back when people were being furloughed. Retired, voluntarily or otherwise, he is a good Hibs man.

Probably, i would imagine Hibs then rolled the 2 jobs into 1, wrote a new job spec and brought the new guy in months later.
I am wary of opening this discussion up again given Tam is an ordinary guy so shouldn't have his business raked up in public.

Overly good wages? What's that based on? Tam went above and beyond the call of duty on countless occasions over the years and both he and Joyce had a great relationship with the playing staff.
The way it all ended was not befitting the years of service he gave the club.

I know their relationship with the club and staff, my mate is very close to both of them and their pay was, shall we say very very good for the job they both did. Nothing wrong with that if the club wants to give wages that good, good luck to them tbh but obviously the club decided to lose both and employ someone on a lower wage, unfortunately that happens.

Thing is, there is no way be will get 2 years winning zero trophies, like Gerrard did.

I’ve actually watched a decent amount of games since working from home. BillyHibs on here adds to the thread quite often when they’re on.
As someone else said, throw in the fact Maclaren has about a goal a game over there over numerous seasons and it’s really a poor standard.

I think they put all their eggs in one basket with Howe and ended up with this guy. A young, highly rated British manager who has managed at the top level in Howe to a 55 year old Australian who has only ever managed in his homeland and Japan.. Seems a strange appointment. Plenty singing his praises but that part of the world to Glasgow is very different. At least Gerrard had a bit of an aura about him from his playing career. I'm not convinced it will go well.

Or perhaps that moving so far away from home for him might be a jarring readjustment.
Fair point, it could easily have been him that suggested this. I suspect the former though, personally.

Sacked Mourinho a few days before a cup final. Wanted Nagelsmann but Bayern stepped in and took him. Then moved their intentions to the likes of Rodgers and ten Hag. Once they weren’t interested they tried to get Poch back, PSG were having none of it so went in for Conte who they couldn’t agree terms with. New DOF then appointed and they have a verbal agreement to bring in Fonseca, now Gattuso has left Fiorentina they have told Fonseca they don’t want him and are going for Gattuso. Apparently the DOF wanted Gattuso before he left Juventus.

Spurs were never getting a top top manager tbh. There's only about 5 of them and the only available one in Conte turned them down.
Kane will do what he's told. He's got zero leverage because he can't sit and do nothing, he'd lose the England spot.

I’d have thought Eddie Howe would be a good fit for what they’re looking for.
He got them a brand new stadium and the pandemic has really affected them because of a loss of all that revenue. They were very close to winning the PL between 15/16 and 16/17, then moved from WHL where they were unbeaten in their last season to play at Wembley for a season and a half or so. If they had stayed at WHL and invested in the squad instead of building the new stadium around that period I think they would have won something.
I think that a lot of their supporters are upset and angry because of the lack of success and how Levy promised the new stadium to help them compete with the bigger clubs, only to see them decline and continue to spend a lack of money compared to their rivals. The new stadium and the pandemic has set them back quite a bit I think.
He’s also in a difficult position of either selling Kane to help rebuild the team or facing a massive backlash from supporters for selling him at a time where he is already facing criticism for the Super League fiasco amongst other things.

He did but took over from Vladimir Ivic in December, I think the squad was already in a favourable position, even then still surprised he got the job in the 1st place. "They saw my CV on the football pitch," Grant says. "I don't believe in putting a CV in because, if I did, I would blow everybody else away anyway. I don't mean that disrespectfully." Grant talking to BBC Scotland after getting the DAFC job. He's imbued with the Rantic arrogance. Karma comes calling.
Wow not at all arrogant. He was at Alloa before that and was he not relegated no wonder he didn't put him cv in. Think he is mixing up playing and coaching career

DAFC should never have gotten rid of Crawford imo. Had them challenging against strong Hearts/Dundee sides. Would've had them up there again this season
.... and losing 5-1 against Raith :greengrin
That, finishing below them and losing to them in the play-offs, did it for him.

Thank goodness for that, a woeful manager. Obviously limited by Ashley during his tenure. But ultimately dreadful.

I felt really sorry for Bruce.
Did as much as he could within the constraints working under Mike Ashley brought.
That question he had to field from a journalist the other day was disgraceful and some of the online stuff that he's had to take from Newcastle fans has been awful. He's one of their own as well.
Their local rivals are two leagues below them. That's what mismanagement REALLY looks like.
I've had a soft spot for Sunderland for a while and having no really strong links to the area I've had no real reason to dislike Newcastle, but I'm looking forward to hating the despicable institution they're about to become.

I’m sure he’ll be delighted deep down. It was painful to watch a decent guy suffering like that, a lot of Newcastle fans haven’t covered themselves in glory over the last few months. The guy was working with 1 hand tied behind his back and did really well to keep them in the top league.

Just a bit. It’s not as if he’s loyal anyway so I’m sure he understands and doesn’t care. He’ll hop off the merry go round and jump back on to another “destroy and exit” soon enough.

That was the pay off figure I heard from a Newcastle fan I know.
Bruce is well known on the managerial carousel and no doubt will be jumping back on soon.
A few managers in the Championship will be warily looking over their shoulders at Bruce’s availability.
Mick McCarthy who’s coat is currently on a shoogly nail at Cardiff City is one that springs to mind.

Doubt it is about money for him. He will have more than enough to see him through his days.
It depends on whether he can live without football.

I don't think that solves all problems. He clearly wasn't up to the job but the abuse he was getting was too much. More than a bad manager deserves certainly.
Read a post on another site saying he couldn't go out for a pint near his house anymore because of the stick he was getting, had to go further afield.
Coupled with him losing both his parents in a very short period a few years ago, he has certainly had a rough time. Hopefully that big payoff allows him to give himself and his family a comfortably life, and forget football.

No matter what he did he would never be accepted fully by the fans. Sure he would have received a good pay off. Decent manager, remember he signed Andy Robertson and SJM. They need a big name. Gerard must be in with a shout. Maybe too far north for Jose.

Absolutely. It's impossible to judge a manager on ten games. I wonder if the Spurs board is reacting to the way the Spurs fans turned on Nuno and the team last night. Making him the fall guy deflects the heat away from them.

That’s exactly what’s happening. The board thought enough of him to give him the job, but after a few bad results they’ll pull the trigger before the heat gets turned towards them. They’re sitting in 9th place and have won 5 and lost 5 and they’re star striker has barely kicked a ball so far. The premiership is a horrid money driven monster that is so far removed from the football I grew up watching and fell in love with. In this country we seemed determined to try and copy them when we should be marketing our league as being the opposite of what’s going on down there.
