Butcher has spoke to Hibs, and he will be Hibs manager. Players know it as well.
Great news Cat looking forward to the big man in the dugout. Thanks for sharing :D

Hibs talk to Terry's agent (in between man) , he tells Hibs - he want £xxxxxx and Maurice wants a new suit... Hibs say... we'll offer £xxxx and just a pair of jeans... Agent talks to Terry , Terry says "Yeah sounds good".
Terry honestly says to everyone "I've not spoken to Hibs."
Just about how it works in agent parlance.

If we get butcher im reading Inverness are DEMANDING he is not in charge for the game on Satarday.
I would have said out of respect to Inveness, hibs and butcher would maybe say that he would take charge after the game. But with them DEMANDING and the general biterness coming from inverness board over this I hope he IS in place for sat.

I think Inverness have every right to be bitter about this.
If this was the other way round we'd be raging at our manager being poached.

They would if that's the case.
No word from Hibs on this. Butcher denies it to paper types in the Highlands. Only source is a journo with no track record in these type of scoops whose hasn't broke cover, and let the BBC issue their "stand by the story" line.
ICT should take it further provided they can come up with evidence.

Hardly but if this was the hibs manager and was being linked with a move away in the way its happened here I think we'd all be pretty sceptical.
My gut feeling is that this doesn't sound like the way petrie does it, he normally takes his time and makes sure he does it all properly but there's so many people apparently in the know saying we have approached him its certainly looking like we've been a bit underhand here.
Doesn't bother me either way but I don't blame the folk at caley for being pissed off.

Heard Petrie refused to pay Butcher petrol money to come for an interview, talks now stalled till the weekend. ICT not happy about being asked to contribute to post match buffet and drinks, as Rod frantically struggles to plug black hole in clubs finances.

I'd guess if we are to get him there's no chance he'll be in before the weekend. Should he come in after that he'll have a good period of time to work with the team before the next game.

Sounds like it could be happening though there have often been twists in the tail in this sort of thing.
Some reports suggesting that ICT are going to insist he takes over AFTER Saturday's game. Can they do this?
I suppose if he is their manager and is under contract they probably can or threaten to do him from breach of contract but if his contract states he can go to a club if a certain £ of compensation then if it is met surely they have to just let him go and cannot dictate when he can start his job.

Sadly until he's actually signed 100% anything can happen in football. Right up until the deal is done things can change. Doesn't matter what's been agreed behind the scenes it's the signature that's needed.

My money is still on Shiels, his no 2 is still at Hibs, are Hibs just looking to sign Butcher?, or does Malpas Brownlie and the scout guy come in the package with Butcher as well, that would cost Hibs a good amount of money if they were all part of the TB package if they were to come to Hibs, and that would probably mean JN being paid off by the club as well, where is all the money coming from, cheap option for Rod and Board would be bringing in the one man, Kenny Shiels could be that man.

Petrie knows he has to get this right, i think he knows the majority of fans would instantly be against the appointment of Shiels. Which they would.
I dont think it would cost that much to bring in Butcher and his staff, and to be honest it would be the best money the club has spent in a long long time.

depends how much of a rush Hibs are in to be honest - Petrie said he'd take his time - BBC say the delas done - ICT/Butcher say it isn't - for me there is zero rush, just as long as whoever comes in makes a difference.
I thought JN had them playing well in patches on Sunday, if he was to remain at the helm until an appointment is made i'm quite happy

I hope you guys are right. It's already shaping up to be a right kick in the goolies if this "deal" falls through.
I don't see how it could be a kick in the goolies.
As far as I'm aware there is nothing but Chick Dung's exclusive and a lot of speculation from the BBC and newspapers.
Until Hibs tell me they've signed or not signed someone I won't be bothered either way.
Most of the posters on this thread are like kids that have found their Christmas presents all wrapped up their parents wardrobe and shake them to see what's in them. They get such a disappointment when those wonderful Adidas football boots turn out to be nice comfy slippers.

So the groundwork's been done behind the scenes, agents have spoken to Butcher and he'd like to come. Now the club have gone official and asked ICT the question, i'd say he's coming now.
Bit of a change of tactic for hibs where we have identified a manager and made efforts to bring him to the club rather than going through an application & interview process.

I'm wondering if this is ICT playing the press to bump up the compo. It can't be that much with only 6 months left on his contract, but they must know that RP would get lynched if this falls through now and Butcher can't resign now without it looking like Hibs have tapped him up.

http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/inverness/247220-hibernian-make-official-approach-for-inverness-manager-terry-butcher/
Hibernian have officially asked for permission to speak to Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Terry Butcher.
The Englishman tops Hibs' shortlist for the job made vacant by Pat Fenlon last week.
Butcher emerged as the frontrunner for the role over the weekend but on Tuesday Inverness issued a statement denying an approach was made.
STV learned on Tuesday that Hibs made their intentions clear by asked the Highlanders for permission to negotiate a contract with the boss.
Butcher's contract at Inverness expires in the summer and compensation would have to be agreed, should the manager seek to take the job in the capital.
He joined Inverness in 2009 followign a spell as assistant to George Burley with the Scotland national team.
Prior to that Butcher managed at Coventry, Sunderland, Motherwell, Sydney FC and Brentford.

Could Malpas and the likes not just resign if TB leaves??
Would be controversial but give it a week and sign up at ER?

http://ictfc.com/news/club-news/1090-hibs-approach-statement
Hibs Approach for Terry Butcher
Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC have received an official approach from Hibernian FC who requested permission to speak with manager Terry Butcher.
Club Chairman Kenny Cameron said: ”Terry has been informed of the situation and has expressed an interest in meeting with Hibs officials. The club has, with great reluctance, granted him permission to do so. We will, however, continue to do everything possible to ensure that Terry remains our manager.
"Given our current position in the SPFL and the fact that once again we have a cup semi-final to look forward to, it is inevitable that if any managerial positions arise, our manager will be on the wanted list.
"We have a game on Saturday and it’s important that our club's focus is on taking three points to maintain our challenge at the top of the league.
"As with the Barnsley approach in January, we will be making no further comment until we're fully aware of the outcome of discussions."

Absolutely, and I think overall we tend to give managers a chance. In fact, if medals were handed out for patience and forbearance, we'd have the biggest trophy room in the country. Butcher tends to stick around at his clubs, which bodes well, as we need to stop the managerial revolving door and get a manager who builds something. Butcher did very well at Motherwell and has improved Inverness. He doesn't come across as the most articulate but I'd imagine he's an excellent motivator. If it happens, I'll be quite happy.

Moving to Hibs who have a trigger happy chairman and impatient fans would be a disasterous move. Nobody gets time in that job and instant results are expected, currently that Hibs squad does not have the calibre of player to work in a TB system and I doubt he would be given more than 1 - 2 years before being sacked prior to an AGM.
Having a look over on the ICT forum, perhaps a bit harsh calling Rodders trigger happy, but are we really impatient? I feel we gave Pat time.

I'm no photoshop exper, and I understand it's fake because of the html, but what photo did they use to get butcher in front of the EM sign, in this seasons training wear, with his initials on the front?

Some people might have preferred a completely fresh approach with a guy perhaps from the continent.
The problem with that approach could be another Le Guen / Collins / Di Canio type appointment where the manager asks them to focus on their job for the periods they are at training and even in their lifestyles
In Scotland though (and England) this approach isn't favoured by the players who seem to rebel against such moves
Anyway, it's Terry now and he is a man with a high profile and a great spirit as a fighter so I'm as happy as I'd expect to be

Presser two years ago - Chairman Rod Petrie said: "Put simply, Pat Fenlon is a winner."
Calderwood - Hibernian Chairman Rod Petrie said: "He is a winner, having won promotion with three different clubs. He is a leader with real drive and determination to succeed. This makes him an outstanding choice."

Yeah - and "A nothing club like Hibs". They're getting a bit big for their boots up there. I'd love it if we gave them a good pumping at the weekend.
Having a look over on the ICT forum, perhaps a bit harsh calling Rodders trigger happy, but are we really impatient? I feel we gave Pat time.

If Butcher does come to us, then going on what the ICT fans are saying, I hope he brings his backroom staff too.
I don't want Butcher. Some (and I stress the word some) of the comments indicate the Caley chaps aren't too fussed about him going.
As DBS says, not my choice but has my immediate backing. I did learn a massive lesson with Mowbray too - give them a fair shot.

Yeah it's physical and direct but they do have pace up top and a good finisher.
Well they usually have good wide players. Doran just now and Hayes before him. Not exactly big physical players.
What about the likes of Shinnie in midfield last year. Creative and scored goals.
Both of the above are things we've craved. I'm not mad keen on Butcher but I think there is more to his teams than being physical and direct.

Happy with TB. Can understand people who might be slightly concerned regarding the type of football he plays but first and foremost Hibernian FC needs to get back to a tough, well organised, hard to beat team before we can start looking at playing like Barcelona every week. Terry Butcher will bring a winning, driven mentality back to ER which is exactly what we need :agree:

Glad this has moved quickly as was starting to think late last night with ICT's stance that it was going to drag out / go mammaries north...
Still not over the line, but lets hope its gets done...
Wanted him last time round (although I supported Pat longer than most when we did appoint him as he did effect a lot of the change that was needed) can't see we could get better right at the moment..
PS - Mikey you and the admin dudes must be happy than Rams in a sheep pen ..... how much has the managerial merry go round added to the .net coffers.....

How come so many of our fans, see Hibs and ICT each week?
Seems harsh to label Caley a direct, physical side. Foran, McKay, Shinnie (if still there?), etc are all 'footballers'.......... Everytime I see highlights of their goals, its nice well worked moves, so I am surprised at the perception of them.

I am sure there are. And they may be the people you least expect.
Butcher will have my support if he joins but the bit that concerns me is that, at ICT and Well, he needed time to get things sorted. Not so sure he'll get that here.

On what do you base that on? If rumours are true, then Petrie was trying to convince Fenlon to stay and he was nigh on rubbish for 2 years.
As long as there is tangible progress under our new manager he will be given time. Without a doubt.

The striker Andrew Shinnie signed for Birmingham pre season however his brother graham is still there.
Whenever I have seen them the have a bit about them but are very direct in attack with pace and width. They also have a very good striker in McKay that has pace and is strong.

I agree and think they play decent stuff whenever I've seen them at ER. Guys like Warren and Meekings are tough defenders and Foran has a bit of dig about him (as well as good skill) but they are far from cloggers.

Whenever I've seen ICT they've been strong where they need to be whilst also being quick out wide and up front. TB had the correct balance there and if he does get the job at Hibs then it'll take him some time to do the same. I'm praying that we get the whole Butcher team, would make a massive difference.

I really like the look of the young lad Conor Pepper. Ran us ragged in the 2nd half when we drew 2-2 with them last season.
Think he's faded a bit but looked like he had bags of potential. I'd take him in a second.
