It may be more like the character in the book, but its diverted massively from the storyline of the early books just 30 minutes in in a multitude of ways, im really surprised Rankin is the executive producer on it. Hoping i like it better as it progresses.Quote:

Having seen the first episode I agree. It's difficult to reconcile it with the early books (as an aside I much preferred those to the more recent ones) but Rankin does seem happy with it. I wonder how it would have gone down if they had used different names for the characters but told the exact same story.Quote:

It's weird because it feels like the books should translate well to TV but they never really have. Stott was an improvement on Hannah but it still could and should have been so much better.
I honestly think Andrew Scott is sensational in it, one of the best actors working today. I enjoyed the Talented movie back in the day but this is so much darker and deeper, im sure it has more of the novel in it, which ive never read.Quote:

I just watched the 3 episodes of the 99 documentary about Man Utd's treble on Amazon.
It's good, well worth a watch.

I know Clarkson plays the big buffoon but he was similar in Top Gear too. Kaleb is a natural star and is very funny, surprisingly Charlie is great too and has that kind of face that just makes you feel happy, we need Charlies running this country 😁Quote:

Ooft. I persevered with The Pacific until episode 3, despite the average reviews, as i loved Band ofBrothers. My god it’s terrible. I thought the criticism was generous, to be honest.
Band of brothers is my favourite show of all time, I watch it once a year, I watched the Pacific when it first came out and thought it was decent, I've since tried to rewatch it on numerous occasions and stop two episodes in every time, just can't get into it at all nowQuote:

I remember the first couple of episodes of original Frasier too. The dynamic between Frasier and Niles is clunky in their first meeting and the same with Frasier and Martin. Nothing close to as polished as it finished.
Anyway. The episode where Frasier tries to get with his and Freddy's blind dates, and the one with Nick Lyndhurst wearing an antique gauntlet at a founder's club meeting, both good. I'm only up to Lillith coming back for a ten-pin bowling party - "I'm doctor Sternan, I was here last year for my son's birthday, and I'll be wearing my own shoes"! 😀 Loved it.
Show has a bit of promise.
Don't know what took me so long but, just finished the final season of Ray Donovan, brilliant programme. Eddie Marsan was particularly outstanding in a brilliant cast.
