Heads up for the new Rebus starting tonight on BBC1 Scotland. Apparently it's about the young Rebus but set in modern day Edinburgh. It sounds like he'll be more like the character in the book than the Hannah and Stott incarnations though - sounds promising.
It may be more like the character in the book, but its diverted massively from the storyline of the early books just 30 minutes in in a multitude of ways, im really surprised Rankin is the executive producer on it. Hoping i like it better as it progresses.

Not too sure about the reimagined Rebus , feels like an episode of river city. I'll stick with it though as I'm a big fan of the books , one thing I'd say is that this version of Shiv is already better than Ken Stott's one , I'm guessing the professional standards guy is the Malcolm Fox character from the books.

Band of Brothers available for £9.99 on Prime. That will be getting purchased as the missus hasn’t seen the series before.

Up there with the West Wing as the best programme ever made in my eyes.

Having seen the first episode I agree. It's difficult to reconcile it with the early books (as an aside I much preferred those to the more recent ones) but Rankin does seem happy with it. I wonder how it would have gone down if they had used different names for the characters but told the exact same story.

I didn't much like the new Rebus. I'll give it another go though.

It's weird because it feels like the books should translate well to TV but they never really have. Stott was an improvement on Hannah but it still could and should have been so much better.

    Ripley on netflix.

    It's 50s Hitchcockesque, I'm sure deliberately.

Black and white, slow, lingering shots, very little exposition.

    It's tense and intriguing.

    It's good.
I honestly think Andrew Scott is sensational in it, one of the best actors working today. I enjoyed the Talented movie back in the day but this is so much darker and deeper, im sure it has more of the novel in it, which ive never read.

Adding swearing seems to be a lazy 'trick' to make shows seem more Scottish, add in hammy acting and cheap production and it's an instant no from me.

I love Charlie Brooker but the last series of Black Mirror fell into the same trap with the episode set in Scotland. 'Hiya ya wee *****, where the **** have ye ****ing been ya ****ing ****er?' It's like there is a school of thought that if they 'add a swear' it suddenly makes it really gritty and authentic.

Correct. West wing is the best ever follow by band of brothers. Excellent taste.

I binged on the whole lot but was generally disappointed. I thought the script was poor, a lot of the acting was amateurish and I found the abrupt ending a let down. I wouldn’t recommend it.

On the other hand, much to my astonishment, as I can’t stand the guy, I enjoyed the first two series of Clarkson’s Farm. An easy watch, snippets of interesting farming life and struggles against bureaucracy and red tape.

I don’t think I’ll go back to it, I agree with PB the production value is poor it makes it more soapy than gritty for me.

I agree with clarksons farm though I absolutely love it, I don’t have much hate for clarkson to be honest I understand why a lot of people do, I haven’t really watched much of him though as other than the trips they took on top gear I had no interest in the show itself, but clarksons farm is superb viewing it really is

Well, just finished Ripley. Ive really enjoyed a lot of tv this year, but Im not sure TV gets much better than that. A total work of art.

I just watched the 3 episodes of the 99 documentary about Man Utd's treble on Amazon.

It's good, well worth a watch.

I agree. It was an excellent look behind the scenes during an incredible year for Man United.

I know Clarkson plays the big buffoon but he was similar in Top Gear too. Kaleb is a natural star and is very funny, surprisingly Charlie is great too and has that kind of face that just makes you feel happy, we need Charlies running this country 😁

I did this too, Clarkson comes over as a nice guy, yes we know it's telly but his persona was always a bit marmite on Top Gear.

Just read he’s going to be in the next Knives Out film. Loved the first two so looking forward to that.

Started it last night, could've done with a wee reminder of what happened in the first season.

Quite a dense storyline isn't it. Great stuff. Season 2 is good as well.

I’m glad Clarksons farm has been brought up.

    Well worth a watch.
