I didn't say anything about winning competitions. Plenty small countries qualify regularly though and some do well when they get there.

All regular/semi regular qualifiers for major tournaments since 1998. I don't have to make snide comments about Scotland. I'll say it clear as you like: our performances in qualifying for major tournaments in the last 18 years have for the most part been a disgrace.

Croatia finishing 3rd in 98 and Uruguay finishing 4th in 2010 are probably the most impressive small nation results in the modern era.
