Our group applied for multiple games without any success, reluctantly decided fan's zones would be the closest we'd get to seeing Scotland play.

Then today I got the news we got 4 tickets for Scotland v Hungary in Stuttgart, I'm absolutely buzzing.

None in ballots between 6 of us. I’ve never really had any expectation of getting to a game but, obviously, still hoping something crops up when Uefa do the resale in a couple of months. Have seen a few resale sites with tickets but not sure how reliable they are. Looking like fan zones as it stands.

I expect nothing from Uefa at any point.

Some resale sites will guarantee your money back, so if you are in Germany anyway its worth a shot IMO.

I got lucky with two tickets for stuttgart game.

Flight process and availability not great.

Anyone got a creative way to get to Stuttgart eg into Paris and then Train?
If you can get to Strasbourg there is a good train service direct to Stuttgart

Paris to Strasbourg is a direct TGV – 1h45 if it's nonstop, 2h otherwise.

Got a ticket for Soctland v Switzerland in Cologne in the second ballot. Accommodation scant and seeing the silly prices but just managed to find a hotel central for a few nights which will do. Getting Eurostar via Brussels. Going on to Berlin after where I have friends. Never been to Cologne but know Berlin well and love it.

Been to club games in Germany before and for me it's the best fan experience in Europe. The game is still predominantly about fans and the matchday there, albeit with UEFA being so involved for this it will be a bit different...

Had Scotland tickets through the SSC allocation. Managed to get through the ballot Slovakia v Playoff B in Düsseldorf in between the Swiss game and the Hungary game.

Our itinerary is setting up nicely.

In and out for the Germany game from Gatwick.

Then Heathrow out to Düsseldorf for the Swiss game in Cologne. Night in Aachen, night in Düsseldorf at the Slovakia game then train down to Stuttgart flying back to Heathrow the day after.

Train down to Stuttgart is £35 1st class for a 2.5 hour train trip thanks to the Euro 24 ticket holders discount. Absolute steal of a price.

Lived in Germany and used the trains now and again for away days.

Google “Bord Bistro” which is the buffet car on the IC and ICE trains.
Between the display boards on each platform and the overhead signs showing the incoming train detail you can see where each carriage will stop on the platform.

Plonk yoursel near the Bord Bistro stopping point and get a quick boarding for either a table or a perch at a night table and get tucked into some draught pintage (Becks).

Depends if the train arrives rammed of course and there’s 100 football fans already grabbed them and the barrels are dry!

That’s the way to travel- standard fare and no need for reservations xxx

Know what you mean about cologne prices, we're there from 17th to 24th and prices were going thru roof with availability over last 2 weeks getting less and less. Booked it yesterday and went for somewhere central in the end. We're doing Eurostar to Munich via Paris, just need to book travel from Munich to Cologne and that's us all sorted.

If you can get to Dublin for an early morning flight on the 21st then Ryanair fly to Memminghem. The return flight is the day after the game. Memminghem is between Stuttgart and Munich but we have based ourselves in Ulm, not far from Memminghem, so that the majority of our group can get back via Dublin to Glasgow. I plan to take the car from Scotland so will bring all the luggage etc.

Regarding the Cologne game, we have three families travelling to stay at a Centre PARC's type place in the Netherlands, just over the German border, in a place called Vaals. The plan is to train it in/out Cologne from Aachen which is about ten minutes away from Vaals.

My family and I will drive down to Dover, then spend a couple of nights in Belgium before Vaals. But the rest of the group fly to Luton, train to St Pancras then train to Aachen. Compared to flying in/out of Germany it was quite cheap when they booked in December.

Memmingen is a lovely little place in itself. We stopped there for a night before the Liechtenstein game a few years back.

After BA shenanigans (our flight to Dusseldorf was cancelled), managed to get flights to Munich via Heathrow for no extra charge, so has worked in our favour.

We're doing:

Fly Edi to Munich via Heathrow
Munich 4 nights
ICE train to Cologne
Cologne 4 nights
ICE train to Stuttgart
Stuttgart 4 nights
ICE train to Dusseldorf
Dusseldorf 2 nights
Fly home from Dusseldorf via Heathrow

We have 2 tickets for the Germany game, 1 for Hungary & 1 for Switzerland.

Got 2 tickets for the Hungary game
Taking my son
He's a good luck charm

Age 7 in early 2016, we went Raith away, Hearts home & away, Inverness, so he was gutted when a holiday coincided with the semi.

We were in Rome so he threw a coin in the Trevi fountain (the coin had a Harp on it, we've still got the photo)

Wished for a win in the semi & for Hibs to win the Scottish Cup

And there we were, in row F seats 4 & 5 on 21/5/16

So, as the official Hoodoo Buster he's coming to Stuttgart for the Hungary game.

It's me him & John McGinn...we've beaten hoodoos together before you know....

Time to get out the groups I reckon :)

Anyone else joining us on Beat The Hoodoo (Mission 2) at Stuttgart??

I definitely would. The prices will only go up closer to the date. Use the DB Navigator app to plan and buy tickets.

Don't forget Flixbus who also run trains and are a cheap alternative for getting around Germany, they also have an app.

Have to say Lyon all our trips within Germany for the two weeks we have paid the small difference to go 1st class also peace of mind knowing you have reserved seats made it well worthwhile.

Flying from Edinburgh - Paris on the morning of the 18th. Arrive 9am and spend the whole day/ night. Morning of the 19th we're catching an early train from Paris - Colonge (not bought tickets yet). 2 full days in Colonge and then on the 21st getting a train from Colonge to Amsterdam to spend the day then in the evening fly Rotherham - Edinburgh.

I see there's 2 Fan Zones being set up in Colonge. 'Fan Zone Heumarkt' and 'Public Viewing Tanzbrunnen'. It seems like Tanzbrunnen is where the biggest screens are going to be and our game vs Switzerland will be on as they're showing all games that are live inside the Colonge stadium. Which of the two do you think most Scotland fans will head to?

Also, staying in Bonn for the 2 nights and training up to Colonge each day. Again, haven't bought tickets for the train yet.

Can't wait!

Did you have to order in advance or did they have a bunch of sizes just to go in and purchase? Heading over from California for 2 weeks and my plan was going up the Royal Mile before flying for the Euros and buying a cheap kilt up there 🤷*♂️ Happy to take recommendations for places like you've mentioned.

Personally I wouldn’t go up the Royal Mile…

I bought them online but were way too big so popped in to the warehouse just off Jane Street and the they couldn’t have been more helpful, brilliant service.. Should you have the time I’d phone them and pop in and they will sort you out with a kilt, no problem. Chap did say they we’re flying out the door…

As I have said the kilts are good quality for what they are price wise. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Definitely agree re going to their warehouse. I got my stepson a couple of ‘cheap’ kilts from there as he was growing up. Good enough quality for him to wear to football, weddings etc until he slowed growing and he got his ‘proper’ kilt for his 18th.

I think 'real' kilts are 8 yards. The ones that are more formal, they're 'fuller' and go further up your waist. Whereas my more casual 'drinking' and Scotland game kilt just sits on my hips.

Truth be told.. I find my cheap one more comfortable these days.. but that's also to do with being a bit 'fuller' myself and needing the formal one taken out a bit :greengrin

More pleats at the back. 5 yard kilts are terrible, they don’t keep their shape. If you have to get a cheap kilt, get any£80-100 version. The £30-50 efforts are gash. Better still, get an ex-hire or 2nd hand off eBay.

I'm making a right good holiday of it. Bought a discounted Interrail trainpass in November, so am using this to do some travelling (wife coming with me and doing some 'proper' holiday stuff as well as both of us going to all 3 games). Edinburgh to Liege on the 12th, then down to Munich the next day for 2 nights, followed by Black Forest, 2nd game, Rheinland, 3rd game and then back home via Luxembourg and Bruges. Made sure the train gets me back to Edinburgh on Saturday in time to watch our last 16 game on TV (should we finish 1st or 2nd in the group)! If by some miracle we get into the last 8, I would probably go back for that :agree:

The temperature for the 2 weeks were over(initially) were behind my thought process too for getting a casual one, think i will pay extra for 8yd version after reading some comments here. My mind was made up when i got my kilt down from loft at weekend as it needs altering it seems it somehow shrunk on the waist whilst up there..........

Just got tickets for the Finalnd game the Friday before. £35 and £40 seems a bit steep for a friendly considering the Nations League games are the same price against more attractive opposition.

A tenner for bairns is really good though.

Aye I agree it's a bit steep. We get ours for the 5 games at £175, which includes Finland game but also Northern Ireland home friendly in 3 weeks. Kids price is great though, thats as it should always be in my view

£150 for my 5 game season ticket. £30 per game for international football seems pretty decent to me. It’s £26 to go see Dunfermline in the Championship and £35 for our game at Ibrox in a few weeks by comparison.

The SFA charged different prices for what were received as more or less attractive games a few years ago. Tenner the friendly against England at Parkhead being particularly expensive and didn’t sell out. After consultation with ATAC they stoped that and now charge the same regardless if the opponent. The theory brings the fans are going to watch Scotland, not the opposition.

My mate got 4 for the Scotland Hungary game at 400 euros each. One is for me so ive been lucky there. Although skint now, but at least will be prime seats.

He got some for Romania Belgium in Koln at 45 euros (I think) and the France game for same price in Dortmund.

He was in at 10.am exactly after queing from 9.15 on his phone. Seems to be pot luck for those who got in.

I think Turkey are expected to be one of the best supported teams because of the ex pat population in Germany. If they end up playing Greece I can only see that swelling the numbers.

Friend of mine is the chairman of ATAC (Association of Tartan Army Cubs). He has been over to Germany twice in recent weeks, at the invitation of UEFA and the German authorities, along with representatives of some of the other bigger supported finalists. He's done site visits to all three cities, the stadiums and fan park venues, city centers etc to see arrangements. The authorities are expecting around 150,000 Scots to travel and are geared up for it by all accounts.

There's a whole generation of Scots who have either never seen us at a major tournament or were too young to really go for it last time (I'm excluding 2021 as all the restrictions meant it wasn't proper). I know guys who are just going because they want to be part of it. I'm not staying in any of the cities Scotland are playing in but I just want to be involved in the experience in a country I enjoy visiting with a load of other football fans.

Obviously the World Cup is another level again but I can remember 1998 like it was yesterday. Running home from school for the Brazil and Norway games then family and neighbours coming round to watch the Morocco game. I always wanted to be involved in it and it's finally a chance to do it. It will be fever pitch at home as well, particularly if we get to the last game looking like we could get out the group.

I can't wait now. It genuinely feels like a party I have waited the best part of 30 years to attend.

You are right. I was 17 in 1998. Just assumed I’d go to the next tournament.

It’s funny, there’s lads a bit older than me at 98 going to their first proper tournament and me aged 43 doing likewise.

It will be a seminal moment for a large chunk of our travelling support.

I know loads of family and friends going who rarely go to Scotland games. They just want to be part of it.

Can’t wait!

Frankfurt to Cologne on a regional train will average around three and a half hours with a change which would be 2hrs more than some direct ICE options.

Not a massive issue when it’s free. I’ve always done IC or ICE between those two but regional is popular with football fans for away days who would use the group weekend tickets for buttons rather than paying a lot more for the rapid version.

Because there are so many options on regional trains I’d expect they won’t be as rammed as the IC and ICE on football days and they’re pretty comfy trains with upstairs and downstairs.

If seat reservations are down on IC/ICE then can be carnage.

It’s a picturesque journey….if that helps!

Do you get designated seats on the train?

Yes we did. Could even pick your seats.

It helps we are hanging around after the Switzerland game. Going to the Slovakia v Ukraine game in Düsseldorf on the Friday. No idea what the trains are like (booked up) on the day after Cologne to Stuttgart.

As has been said, they are filling up, so worth booking.

The first class is a decent price, think it was an extra €10.

Dusseldorf to Stuttgart on the Friday and Stuttgart to Zurich on the Monday.

Booked in advance on the Trainline for Zurich to Luzern when away with Hibs last year and no issues.

Going to Hofgarten (https://www.google.com/maps/@48.142953,11.5793011,342m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu) before the game. It's a big park/garden next to the Residenz München. Apparently quite a few fans heading there for a bit of party and to (hopefully) take in a bit of sunshine.

The Odeonsplatz (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Odeonsplatz/@48.1420763,11.5733162,16z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x479e75f2dabe9f9d:0x52a29195d2370 1ee!8m2!3d48.1428084!4d11.5774679!16s%2Fg%2F1jky8q hpc?entry=ttu) U-Bahn station is right next to it and the underground takes you straight to the stadium

No club colours at Scotland games (kilts being the exception) . Been the uwritten rule for decades and I for one am glad. Why would you wear Hibs gear? We’re all there supporting Scotland, as one as the rugby crowd say. Whilst I get the whole ‘nobody is going to tell me what wear’ line, all it’s going to do is cause grief. It’s not in the spirit of things IMHO.

I think there will be a lot of folk kicking about in club colours, not so much on match days but throughout the tournament. Not just Scotland fans to be fair. There’ll probably be tens of thousands of folk there from Scotland alone who have never been to a Scotland game and still won’t have been by the time they come home. Just be Scotland tops for me but I don’t think it will be for all.

It just doesn't seem the time or place for it. I've got 4 Scotland tops and maybe a couple of smarter tops for at night if we decide to go out out.

Each to their own but I'm not mad keen on kicking about in Hibs tops even just on a normal holiday. Even less so when it's potentially divisive with fellow fans of the national team.

As others have said you're entitled to wear what you but you can expect a bit stick. Fans who regularly follow Scotland just don't (generally) wear club gear. It has kept the Scotland support fairly harmonious over the years but club colours inevitably lead to potential flashpoints. If I'm following Scotland I don't want to Celtic/Hun tops everywhere.

No idea of the quality of those tops in particular but on the whole their gear is decent:

Has anyone been able to order a decent replica of the 1990 purple training/leisure top? You know the one; it had this multi coloured isometric square pattern thing going on, and there was also a pink/yellow version. If so, where did you order from and what was the quality/sizing like. Fancy grabbing one for the Euros.

Got mine from Fairley Good Shirts on Facebook…decent quality and comes with Umbro tags

I got the 150th anniversary top with the same. Got it tight when I pitched up to 5s wearing it😅

😂😂 coincidentally that’s the other new top I’m getting but decided wanted that one plain.

Assume by the price that these are replica/fake? Decent quality?

Can vouch for the quality. Really good. Not had any issues with any tops from them so far. All been great

I would recommend that if anyone is going to order one for the euros, do it now. If they get busy can take a long time to come.

'98 top came At the start of the week and the new away one is due to arrive tomorrow. Been roughly 2.5 weeks

I get my hookey ones from DHGate.

Retro tops usually tap out at XXL which is like real money Large. Being XL in normal U.K. sizing (not macron and Joma) I go 3XL for DHGate.

Stuff is decent, go for a seller that has lots of reviews and look at buyers photos in the reviews.

I bought a pink Germany away top to take to the Euros from DHGate and it looks spot on. Unfortunately I went XXL and it’s too tight. Have reordered in 3XL.

Does anyone know the best way to get from the Olympic Park fanzone in Munich to the stadium? Sure i read somewhere there would be shuttle buses but not sure if this is just for the locals.

Take whatever flag you want, who cares what The Tartan Army police say.

I'll be taking the Hibs top with me like, won't wear it when Scotland are playing but I might well wear it to the France V Austria game, got to represent the Hibs in some way.

Always assumed it was weirdo behaviour to wear club gear away to see Scotland but not sure.

I've heard from a few people that Gary lock had hearts gear at France 98 and got demolished for it the whole time?

Shuttle buses not been confirmed yet, also a proposal for shuttles from a separate Scotland fan meeting point.

Tartan Army "police" as you call them are just football fans who have kept fans from different clubs from clashing at games for years, For a few days fans should drop their club allegiance and support Scotland.

IMO it’s just a bit neddy to wear your club shirt in general outside of either your club’s match day, or playing 5s, or of course if you’re a kid. It’s super cringeworthy seeing football tops on a Ryanair flight to Tenerife and even worse when you’re there.

If you’re in Germany to support Scotland, support Scotland.

Exactly.

In the nicest possible way nobody cares what club team you support. Keep that stuff away from Scotland games.

If someone wants to wear a club top then that's on them and I'm certainly not going to pull them up about it.

For me though it's not a club trip. I'm doing the football with guys I don't normally get the chance to because we support different teams. For a week we all support the same team and I'm treating the week accordingly. I don't expect any of them to be parading about in a St Johnstone, Raith Rovers or Celtic top so I won't wear a Hibs top. I want to drink with people without all the parochial and tribal stuff that comes with club football. If a guy is swanning about in a Hearts top then it instantly puts a divide in place that doesn't need to be there.

I'm just not convinced a Scotland trip is the place for club colours regardless of the club.

Wearing club colours at an international game is like wearing your trunks on a nudist beach, you'll look a bit weird and people will question your motivation for being there.

I have a vision of the chief of the Tartan Army Police, Hamish MacDonald, dressed in his Kilt, pish stained Timberland boots and a feathered glengarry assembling his similarly dressed officers to round up anyone wearing a Scottish Club top and have them forcefully sent back to their hotel rooms for a change of shirt. :greengrin

I'm taking a few old Scotland strips - this will be the highlight for me:

Germany is going to be full of fans on a jolly, many of which didn't give a **** about Scotland a year ago. So club allegiances will be strong.

Wearing a club top only increases the risk of getting a smack in the teeth by somebody else who has a gripe against that club.

Seen it, just sayin' likesay...

Think when I did a brief weather investigation it looked like it’ll be nice but not necessarily the blazing hot temperatures some previous posts may have insinuated.

Doesn’t really answer your question I know 😁

Guess also depends where you are based. I think I’ll be kilt, few pairs of shorts and maybe one pair of jeans.

It will be hot during the day and warm at night. Mid to high 20's day, teens night. Shorts and t-shirts the order of the day (and night). June can be quite rainy though. It's always dry in the pub so not to worry!

I'm just back from a hotel in Fuerteventura where at least 90%of the punters were German. Not an issue for me as once upon a time, a long time ago, I was engaged to one 😀

My recent observations are that if you want to blend in with the locals over there then ALL your clothing must have Camp David plastered all over it.
