Ah ok never realised that. The tickets say it's Group A Germany's group.

So it can basically be anyone with the exception of Germany?

You won’t have a pot 1 team, that’s all that’s for sure at this point I suppose.

It won't be a pot 1 team as Germany are a top seed so can't draw another one in their group.

So you definitely won't get England but could get Scotland.

Happy with that. Don't think England fans are as bad as made out but I'd rather not a group of us going to one of their games.

Its the fans who go to countries that aren’t too far too travel and get tickets from outside agencies that generally cause the trouble so expect some in Germany

Going to be a scramble to get the €30 tickets.

Hoping for somewhere like Berlin or Dortmund for the opening game.

At the last euros they didn’t have the fans first tickets for the group games but something like 60/70% of the SSC allocation was the cat 3 tickets so if it’s similar this time the 30 and 50 euro tickets will be taking up the majority of the tickets available, probably not far off enough to cover everyone over 12 points

About to book this....

18th - Fly Edinburgh - Paris (1 day/ night)
19th - 20th - Morning train Paris - Colonge (2 nights) scotland vs Switzerland in evening
21st - morning train Colonge - Amsterdam, explore for the day then fly back up Edinburgh from Rotterdam.

3 countries, 3 nights 4 days, planes/trains/hotel total for two = $528. I've swung it with the wife brilliantly. A couple days in Colonge for the football, soaking it all up, and a day trip to both Paris and Amsterdam 👌

Ditto, just bit the bullet and paid 300€ for the night of the 19th.

Thankfully, our Air bnb was booked before the boy updated his prices for the Euros so that offsets it a bit.

Looking at a similar per night price for the jaunt to Frankfurt on the 23rd. Just pay now then by the time the tournament comes round you can pretend it's all free as it'll all have been paid for 😂

We originally booked a flight to Brussels on Sat 15th AM. I had a feeling we were going to be drawn in the opener months ago, so booked a free cancellation hostel. When that came to pass on Friday we booked a flight from London to Strasbourg on Thursday 13th with a view to getting a train from Strasbourg to Munich (3hrs).

I then had some time yesterday so started looking around flights into Munich on the Thursday with a view to then seeing if I could get to that destination. Step forward Bilund…famous for Lego land I believe. There was a flight from Edinburgh at 6.10am to Bilund then on to Munich later in the day with Lufthansa. So the end result is we’ll be in Munich for 2.30pm Thursday! Price was about £230 yesterday for that route.

Me and my mates have came up trumps for our trip tbh.

Mate stays in Stuttgart so staying with him for free board. Booked tickets to Paris on the 18th then train to Stuttgart ages ago (after the Norway away game I think). Flights were £70.

Luckily we got tickets to A2vA3 in the ballot, which has obviously turned out to be Scotland v Hungary!

When the draw was made my mate used his German knowledge to book a hotel in a small town 20 min away from Cologne on the S-Bahn on the 19th for £40 a night.

Feeling pretty smug that we've managed to get everything booked up plus Scotland tickets on the cheap.

Oh and we also have a couple spares for the Hungary game that we are looking to use as swaps for the Swiss game.

Total shambles on today when the tickets were supposed to go on sale.

The SSC accidentally sent out login codes to fans on 11 points. There are only enough tickets for 12 and up.

They’ve had to pull the plug on the sale.

Flight prices from Scotland direct to Munich are nuts.

We booked on Saturday to fly from Manchester to Munich. Got it for £363 per person, but had originally priced it at £225. Price of the same flights today is coming in at well over £500 now - folks must’ve cottoned on. Hotel for £130 each for two nights so doing the weekend for just under £500.

Never been abroad for football before, even Hibs. Won’t get near a ticket from the game, but I’m absolutely buzzing for it.

I only spent a day there but seemed nice enough, it's a student city so should have good bars and places to eat, Heidelberg is nearby and I think that is meant to be lovely.

Also, the technical museum near Mannheim is cool, it has a Buran, the Soviet space shuttle!

ICE isn't, but they are cheap as chips to begin with. Tickets for them go on sale 180 days before the journey and you can buy via the trainline app, DB also has their own app which gives more ticket options.

Right now I've got a hotel in 'Pulheim' booked for 2 nights. $124 total and 13 minute train direct to Colonge City Centre. Not the greatest of hotels and abit in the middle of nowhere but a place to rest the head.

It's free cancelation so I'm still looking around if something else pops up. Bonn seems to have alot of hotels but still abit pricey and 45 ish minutes away from Colonge..

June tickets aren't available for purchase until around about Xmas time and there will be cheaper SparAngebot that limit you to getting *that* specific train but if you're happy with that lack of flexibility, you can save some €€ into the bargain.

I was just having a look on the DB app now for the end of May for a Cologne Stuttgart return journey, it's doable for €50. That's with the tightest transfer times though, obvs those can be changed.

Yeah if you left it nearer the time it would cost a lot more, but the trains you'll be wanting will become available over the next couple weeks.

When you're booking, a lot of the trains will require a transfer, but you can edit the connecting train on the website to give you more leeway. I'm not sure if you can edit that on the app, but it's worth doing otherwise they'll give you 5mins to change trains and no one needs that stress!

Tickets bought via public sale can be, but I think if it's bought via a code from the SFA then you can't.

From UEFA's ticket site:

After ticket distribution (i.e.: closer to the tournament), if you and/or your guest(s) are unable to attend a match for personal reasons, as per the UEFA EURO 2024™ TICKETING TERMS AND CONDITIONS, you will be able to transfer the corresponding ticket(s) to a friend or family member through the dedicated mobile app.

Considering the above, we recommend to only apply for matches that you are willing to attend.

Note: tickets bought through the fan club programmes of the participating teams will follow the principles of the participating national associations.

Yeah spot on. They might give you the option of switching at another station as well but the location of the switch shouldn't matter too much. It'll affect the price of the ticket but it's worth an extra tenner for the peace of mind.

We’re in Düsseldorf for the last 2 group games and plan on travelling to both Cologne and Stuttgart for even the fan zones there rather than the Düsseldorf ones.

Yeah I'll head into cologne for the second match, Munich just seems a trek, and it's another outlay on a hotel unless it's a late train back. Not sure what to do. Can't make my mind up.

With us being based in dusselforf we were thinking of just watching the first game in the fanzone there..
Is anyone else thinking the same or would you recommend just making the effort and heading to Munich? We're based in Dusseldorf but heading to Cologne fan zone for Swiss game and wil take in Germany game in Dusseldorf fanzone..🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🍺🍺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We are in Frankfurt and don't arrive until 3.15 on the Friday. There is a flight at 5.15 to Munich but just seems a bit of a hassle.

We are planing just to watch in a local beer garden or fanzone. I'd imagine everywhere will be jumping.

It's a good 5 hours on the train between the two, might be a long journey when there no doubt will be just as many Scots in Dusseldorf

Still waiting to find out if Wales qualify. Depending on that my work will set up 3 or 4 bases. 2 or 3 in the cities where UK teams are playing and the HQ in Berlin. I've been inundated with invites from German friends to watch the opening game at their pads, but there's next to no chance I'll be able to attend. Worse case scenario I'll be on the road for 4 weeks solid.

Hope everyone has a ball, the Germans will welcome you with open arms.

We are based in Berlin (fly in on the Thursday and will just train immediately to Munich). Atmosphere night before in Munich will be incredible and the day of the match. We fly home on the Sunday (Berlin) and had thought about spending one day/night in Berlin but decided to stay in Munich for the 3 nights so we can do some tourist stuff as well. Munch hotel prices are very high though and it’s my son and I so can’t really take a risk. Overall trip costing me a fortune but memories and all that.

Looking at arriving in Cologne at midnight on the Thurs then getting a night train to Munich, prob the 3am one, getting in to Munich at 8am approx on the Thurs morning. I’m nervous about pulling the trigger as I’d be travelling alone, meeting a large group of mates in Munich but navigating the trains etc alone. No worries about safety but worried about getting on the wrong train/missing the train. Anyone thinking of a similar journey? Reckon other Scotland fans are likely to be on that train?

Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time at the station to check departure boards. You will also find the platform staff very helpful, you shouldn’t have any problems, just ask if you are not sure.

Are you any good with your mobile phone? If so, Google maps, Apple Maps etc have public transport options on them that are pretty much fool-proof.

Anytime I’m abroad I use them to navigate my way through underground stations, jumping on and off to transfer between lines etc. They usually give you live departure times, any delays will be highlighted, closed stations etc and they take into account opening and closing times of stations, buses etc. They even go as far as telling you specifically what one of the underground exits to use rather than just telling you to leave the underground.

100% this. We were in Berlin in the summer and used the Google maps app for getting from A to B. Used all forms of public transport and was a doddle. I speak a wee bit German but it wasn't necessary.

I am thinking of basing myself in Hannover for the Euros as you can still get return flights from Edinburgh with BA for under £300 return and hotels are still reasonable. It's not really any good for Munich but I don't have a ticket for the opener anyway.

German train stations are great, very well signed and also have some good food shops & kiosks etc. The big stations will be reasonably busy at 3am with revellers heading home (the trains run through the night). With the Euros, there will be more travellers and staff.

Couple of great apps for traveling when abroad are Rome to Rio and Cityhopper. Both will tell you how get you from A to B with various options. They even tell you the best carriage to sit in for the exit or platform change. Download them and have a wee play.

Very excited, not been to see Scotland since the 80's. This team are different to what we have seen the last 20 plus years.

Hopefully McGinn has an absolute blinder of a world cup and get's a big move from Villa. We can but hope...

Yup. In the search bar just type where you’re headed. So for example, if I type in Easter Road, it’ll tell me how to get there from wherever I set the top field to. There’s little pictures, one will be a car with a time, one will look like a train with a time (this is your public transport one), one will be a little man walking. Click on the one that looks like a train and it’ll come up with a step by step guide for your journey.

I've booked up for a week and got it all surprisngly cheap, considering I waited until a few days after the draw.

Flight to Venice then train to Munich: £100
Airbnb in Munich £450 for 3 nights, 4 of us staying
Airbnb in Solingen (approx 20 mins to Cologne on train): £800 in total for 4 nights, 4 of us
Fly back direct from Rotterdam: £100

All in ~£525

To get there cheap it's key to beat Skyscanner by finding a destination that you can fly to, get a train to next airport or straight to Munich.

Not sure what prices are now but would also reccomend the morning flight to Naples from Edinburgh (was approx 60) then 1hr train to Rome, direct flight to Munich (approx 60 again). Day before the game.

Thats some great planning mate.

Is that £100 from Edinburgh to Munich via Venice Ryanair flights? Assuming you are just taking hand luggage if so?

Looks like 7 or 8 hour train from Venice to Munich so do you have to stay night in Venice or just do an overnight train??

The DB navigator app is good for public transport within Germany. It'll give you point to point directions and you can buy/store train tickets.

The DB app sounds good but now FIFA have announced the tie-up with DB, I'm wondering if is it wise to buy in advance from the likes of Trainline and the like in your opinion?

The FIFA/DB 3/4 day pass looks a tad pricey at first glance.. Any pointers would be appreciated.

A tip for anyone who has to watch their budget a bit. Download the Flixbus App, they don't just do busses to all large German towns but also provide their own train service between some German cities.

Edit: Prices are like Easyjet/Ryanair in that they're dynamic. At the moment the prices are good but as soon as people start booking certain journeys, the price will go up.

Good info and thanks for that, sorted for Munich £22 from Frankfurt...

Just need to plan the rest and I noticed the Germans do a 49euro monthly pass but it excludes the ICE trains, could be worth a bash if not in a hurry and willing to change trains...

I just did Trainline and for two of us it was £58 for Berlin to Munich and same again on way back (didn’t do return as wanted to double check in time). First class upgrade and refundable with allocated seats. So less than £60 for fast direct train in first class per person in total. It’s the ICE trains as well

If I was doing same journey to say Manchester or London it would cost me a hell of a lot more.

Heard of that happening plenty times. I had 3 hotel rooms booked for me and mates in London for the euros. The hotel messaged me and practically begged me to cancel them, then when I didn’t they cancelled the booking. They went on to charge an absolute fortune for them compared to what I was going to be paying.

It's a practice that should not be allowed to happen, it's not as though they didn't know about the Euros24 coming to their country. I could be a tad naive here but I genuinely think most will stick with what they are getting and be extremely welcoming.

Also had one with a similar price in Hagen but since decided to base ourselves in Munich, also two weeks.

It was this happening repeatedly that was one of the reasons I stopped going to Scotland games, the last time being a game in Cardiff.

I'd be amazed if there isn't a flurry of stories like this between now and the summer, it seems to be a popular tactic.

This happened to a friend of mine and his wife for the rewind festival in Perth a few years ago. Hotel emailed them saying there was a problem with their booking and they were not able to get their chosen room they'd booked but they could rebook another room for £500 per night instead of the £180 for 2 nights they'd already paid for. They told the hotel to bolt, got a refund and made other arrangements. I think this was a Travelodge but can't remember. This scalping practise should absolutely not be allowed to happen

I'm arriving 1 day earlier than initially planned thanks to the Scotland vs Switzerland game - for extra obvious reasons got to be there for that.

I messaged my air bnb host in Düsseldorf asking for the price for an extra night as it was cheap as chips ehtne I booked for the 20th to 25th. Turns out I got that booking through before he updated his pricing calendar for the Euros so the extra night would've been double the price.

Staying in a Cologne hotel for the night of the 19th for convenience now, but glad I booked Düsseldorf when I did.

So group of us staying in Cologne for a week but travelling down to Stuttgart for one night for the Scotland Hungary game. I had booked a hotel through booking.com in Stuttgart back in October. 70 quid per person for one night in centre of Stuttgart.

Got a message in December directly from the hotel telling me they were overbooked and "asking" me to cancel my booking. Cheapest hotels remaining now £350 a night, and much further out in Stuttgart.:bitchy:

I checked through booking.com t & c's and if a hotel cant fulfill your booking then they are liable for providing alternate accomodation, including any transfers for the same price as originally booked.

I didnt cancel therefore and phoned booking.com who took a few days of back and forth with the hotel who magically discovered they did have availability after all and reconfirmed the booking. Had I cancelled myself I would have been ****ed.

So if a hotel does try to cancel on you its worth checking the smallprint and pushing back depending on who you have booked with.....

Anyone taking a caravan or campervan over?

I'm driving to Newcastle for the overnight ferry to Amsterdam with caravan on Sat 15th & driving down to Cologne. Booked into a site in Cologne for 5 nights and then on to Stuttgart on the 21st for another 5 nights until 27th although I don't have a confirmation for my preferred site in Stuttgart yet. Possibly need to camp around an hour outside of Stuttgart in the Black Forrest area but I quite fancy that - the sites look great for families.

Then booked into a site in Berlin from 27th to 1st of July. If Scotland qualify in 2nd place they'll be playing in Berlin on Sat 29th June - if they qualify in 1st it's in Dortmund so I'm hoping for 1st to save a 7 hour drive from Stuttgart :greengrin

If we don't qualify from the group I'll probably find a site near Dortmund and take in the experience in the fanzone for whoever is playing

Booked back through Rotterdam to Hull on a flex ticket in case we get through further rounds.

Be careful with the Eurostar. Allow yourself an absolute minimum of 90-120 minutes connection time for your Eurostar service from St Pancras, also if your train from Edinburgh to London is late or cancelled and you miss your Eurostar train you its very unlikely you'll be accepted on a later service free of charge. You will likely have to pay again (if theres availability) and claim it back via travel insurance.

Cheers for heads up HC, we're going from Newcastle to get Eurostar to Brussels on 12th then overnight train to Munich, quick question it's £58 for Eurostar on basic price, is it worth paying the £122 for next price band, it's only 3 hour journey and I wasn't of a mind to pay extra unless it's really worth it.

I'll be honest with you. I've never used the Eurostar even though I get it heavily discounted but from speaking to boys I know who have used it I wouldn't think its worth it for the period of time you're actually on it. Look on the website to see what the higher price band gets you though. I suspect it will be a comfier seat and maybe some food etc.

No, cheap is good. The seats are bigger and more comfortable than UK economy trains. In fact just stand at the bar for 3 hours.

The trains are great , the hassle with double passport and security checks not so much though I`ve only used it between London and Paris and Lille so don`t know what it`s like in Brussels . 58 pounds seems cheap , I doubt there are many places at that price . For Munich , you can go via Paris too with day or night trains ( check seat61.com for options ) . Eurostar took over Thaiys recently so now offers tickets to Cologne and Dortmund via Paris / Brussels .

Are you driving there from Edinburgh?

Any reason you're not going via Newcastle?

It's a fortune compared to the other routes as booking a cabin is now compulsory

Yes it's pricey but probably cuts 10 hours or so driving time (to Cologne anyway).

Anyone staying in the Bochum/Dortmund area?

We're there 17-27 June travelling by Eurostar. Covered for the Cologne game and heading down to Dortmund 22-24. All trains booked bar Edinburgh - London

Been to Bochum before and it was quite nice.

We arrived on the Monday and everything was closed (museum, visitor's center, etc). Fortunately it's really close to Dortmund so we just jumped on the train.

If the local Bochum fans invite you to their supporters club, be careful. Some of them inhabit a club that rivals the Loudon Tavern.

We stayed in Bochum for the 2003 game in Dortmund. Stayed in Düsseldorf for the 2014 game.

Bochum was jumping (my first away game), Düsseldorf was something else. Fantastic place. Very much a party town.

Never had any desire to stay in Dortmund as it’s like a big German Livingston.

All booked up for Cologne. Flying to Dusseldorf on 17th, got friends about an hour's drive away so bed and boards generously fixed. Still not got match tickets, depite my son having tickets for all three group games. I'm travelling with my brother by way of celebrating the 50th anniversary of our being in Germany for the World Cup 1974 and we will be happy to be part of it if we simply have to enjoy the game at a Cologne Fanzone. Where did those years go???

Hadn’t realised the 50 year anniversary.I was in Frankfurt for the Brazil game. The 2 things I remember most are the incessant drumming and Billy Bremners miss

I fly with Eurowings from Copenhagen to Düsseldorf on the Tuesday night. There’s a Norwegian flight from Edinburgh at roughly the same time which works however it’s just a pain in the arse

Was right behind the goals for Bremner's miss. we all thought it was a sure thing. I couldn't understand Jimmy Johnstone not getting on. That game was made for his flamboyance. But all said and done, it was an incredible experience to be there and we had brilliant players

I'm only going if successful in the ballot for the Hungary and Switzerland games. So pretty unlikely.

If I do get that miracle by 31st Jan then I'm going to spend most of my working week trying to figure out how to get and stay there. Spreadsheet at the ready.

If unsuccessful then hoping to just go somewhere like Lanzarote to watch the whole thing in the sun.

Got Serbia v England. That’s me got Serbia V England and Turkey V a play off winner. With any luck I might be able to swap one of they games for Scotland v Switzerland.

Edit: just realised it’s not a swap system, it’s just resale.

The guy that runs the Scotland's Coefficient twitter account has set up a ticket swap site, in the absence of an official ticket swap option from UEFA.

Maybe worth a try for anyone who got tickets for games they're not keen on.

No its way too difficult to get there, I wouldnt bother.

I''ll actually be in Stuttgart at the time of the game, so would you like to sell me your tickets?:greengrin (Edinburgh to Heathrow to Cologne then train to Stuttgart).

Well done to people getting them through the ballot, there is at least ten of us who have applied for tickets for multilple games since the start and not one of us has got a ticket for anything. :boo hoo:

Ill end up chancing it with the ticket resale sites which will be costly but its last chance saloon.

Try flying to Basel, it’s in Switzerland/France but on the border of Germany, easy train journey into Germany from Basel.

we booked flights from lufthansa last week on 19th Jan to Munich on 21st june and back 24th june and got them for £170 each. appears we were very fortunate given the price of those flights now

don't mean to be cheeky but shy bairns don't get any sweets, if you are unable to make it to stuttgart I'd be grateful if you can keep me in mind if you happen to sell your tickets on 👍🇳🇬

See if you can get cheap flights to Basel, it's 3 hours by train to Stuttgart. Also consider staying in towns that are connected to Stuttgart by local public transport, for example Karlsruhe. Premier inn still have cheapish rooms outside Stuttgart for that weekend

From my selfish point of view It does seem a bit strange (and unfair) that some people can be successful multiple times whilst others arent even getting a sniff of a ticket.
