Someone just told me we have never beaten them at Hampden, surely that can’t be right?

I think we’ve only played them there 3 or 4 times. Obviously you’d like to win these games but I think the line lends itself to sensationalism!

What did Ross say afterwards?

He said we came out the wrong side of fine margins. Also mentioned something about Nisbet facing personal issues earlier in the week. Maybe that’s where the rumours of him being out came from.

Hibs had the outcome in their own hands, Nisbet should have had two with the penalty and header , sometimes it isn’t your day, IMHO Hearts won’t win the Championship, but that’s not much consolation

Doig was fine. Boyle has been suspect for far too long, going back to Lennon's time imo. I thought Marciano took far too many risks and was too padestrian. Slowed everything down. We should have won but yet again against them didn't.

Can Marciano not kick the ball further than the half way line? every kick looked way short for me should be aiming for Doige or Nisbet.

Clearly you've not been a Hibby for very long, that's offensive as fxck to be fair.

I've been a hibee since 1986 if you accept tonight then you are a part of the problem. Wake up

If he was having personal issues he shouldn't have played. You should still score from 12 yards though.

Andy Halliday probably played about 3 or 4 full games in the last year. Wighton was punted out on loan to Arbroath last season, did he even score for them? White nearly retired after being out for several years with injury. Haring been injured for about a year. Naismith a walking sick note.

Not good enough at avll.
Exactly. 3 huddies are in a cup final.

Not good enough at all.

Hearts near enough always have horrendous strikers. These horrendous strikers quite often have records against us that our decent strikers would be happy with if the roles were reversed.

Absolutely. Uche and Washington last season, can’t recall many other games they scored in.

I said during the game especially first half, why the **** does Porteous in particular keep passing it back to him, drives me up the wall. If you pass to a keeper who struggles with the ball at his feet to lump up the pitch do it yourself for **** sake.

We said we needed to impose ourselves on the game and dictate the pace but too often in that first half we passed sideways or backwards and lost the initiative.

We had way more quality than them and losing to that garbage really hurts.

Oh, I like that. I've no idea if you're right, but the first time I was at ER same day as the rugby, Scotland beat Wales at Murrayfield while we huffed and puffed to a tedious 0-0 draw against Dundee. First division, early 81.

Perhaps we need to orchestrate postponements if we're same day as Scorug?

I flew up for a double header in 2017.

Scotland beat Italy 29-0. Jumped on a tram before the crowds and legged it from York Place down to ER for a poor 2-2 draw against Dumbarton at ER.

(Should have had a late penalty IMHO).

2006 semi 0-4

2012 final 1-5

2020 semi 2-1

Horrendous stats. And by the way, Paul Hanlon played in the latter two games. He knows what its like to lose to Hearts at Hampden, he was captain tonight. He should be getting the boys up for it. I didn't see any of that tonight at all.

Rocky is poor at penalties. We didn't have a hope if extra time went all the way.

I don’t know his exact record but how do we define a keeper being bad a t penalties. Unless the taker makes a mistake the keeper has no chance of saving. The keeper can obviously try mind games to put the taker off but the end success or failure is still the same: all in the hands of the taker.

Off the top of my head Marciano has saved 2 penalties for us but it’s probably more. How does that compare to others? Outside of Ben Williams I’m not sure if ever define a keeper as “good” at penalties.

For the umpteenth time on this very thread, Marciano’s penalty record is better than Gordon’s.

I can remember plukey saving pens in a Scottish cup final win. Marcianos saved why? Two and one they score the rebound?

I couldn't give a toss about RM's penalty record, I'm more angry that he continually lets the team down with the worst distribution from feet (unchallenged) by a Hibs keeper I've seen in years. It simply cannot have gone unnoticed, and cannot have been commented on by the coaching team - he's a great shot stopper, no doubt, but awful with the ball at his feet. If he worked harder on it and simplified and improved that part of his game, we'd have a keeper we'd struggle to keep hold of.

Said last season he costs us goals with his poor kicking and decision making, and he will continue to do so as the season progresses unless someone takes hold of him and works every day on his kicking. His slowing the tempo of the game yesterday was infuriating. Plays lazy.

Could make a post highlighting an obvious flaw in any of our players games. Rocky is probably still better with the ball than Gogic ffs. There is a reason these guys are here.

I can't believe it's not been addressed - in Grant Holt's first Derby at tynie he was going ballistic at Rocky for not putting his foot through the ball when clearing.

I said exactly that yesterday MW, there's a reason he is at Hibs and no one has taken a large punt on him. You're correct, every player has flaws, I find with a goalkeeper, especially a professional one, he should be able to play with feet, not hit out of play, and circulate the ball quickly especially when under no pressure - shot stopping, can't fault him, making himself big, again, a strength, but ball from feet - I'd argue worst in the league to be honest (distribution). I'm not saying he is a bad keeper, I'm saying he absolutely needs to work on his kicking game and if he does, he'll move on to bigger things. If not, he costs goals.

Gogic is abysmal on the ball. Loses possession more than any other player.

Reading through this thread in the cold light of day now some dust has settled has been totally chronic

"We'll pump them"
"3-0"
"Easy we'll hammer this ******"

"Come on, totally dominating here"
"We've had the best chances, easy win coming"
"How does he not score?"

"Bog standard save"
"Right at him - easy"
"I'd be gutted if our keeper doesn't save that"

"Totally dominant there, lets pump them in the second half"

"Here come the two crocks, Naismith and Haring"
"They can only last 30 minutes"

"Awww FFS"
"******"
"Get Ross to ****"
"He always bottles it"

"Next goal's the winner"
"You can see we're no longer up for this"
"Cannot believe we're going out to this ******"

"Yassss we're back"
"Penalty - phew"
"Nisbet to carry on as King"

"Awww FFS - ******"
"Get them all to ****"
"Ross out"

I can't even carry on with the above, I know fans are fickle, but the instant changes from one extreme to another is unbelievable.
Until the goal we were totally dominating and should have been 2 ahead - thank you Jack Ross.
A missed penalty - we score that and we are back level with as much chance to win as them.
We're having a great season, we've played well and also ground out results when not playing so well.
Jack Ross deserves our continued backing and he's given us no reason to doubt him (folk will pick out 2 or 3 results)

It DOES get addressed.

Distribution was always a weakness in Marciano's game but he has definitely improved (eg a year ago he could barely keep the ball out of touch from a kick out) and you've got to assume that's cos he works on it in training.
