The match report I have Daily Ranger said that the Leeds players surrounded the Referee and asked him to consult the linesman after he had awarded the goal

As a young HIBS fan at the time it looked a goal to me and to the HIBS players

I would like to add that I very rarely notice opposition players but Billy Bremner was absolutely outstanding that night he was definitely trying playing to win not to lose

Leeds would go out the next round
Did Leeds not win the League that season?

I was only a boy, but even aged 8, I knew I’d seen an awesome performance from Bremner that night
For any much younger readers (are there any ? lol). Bremner was a veteran who’d been one of the top midfielders in England for a decade or so. He was 5ft 6 (max) and was a snarling, dirty, very talented leader of men type of player. Prone to a bevvy and misdemeanours off the field, particularly with Scotland.
