At the fourth time of asking Colin Calderwood got his first victory and probably the most memorable victory of his tenure at HIBS

Hearts beat Celtic 2-0 on the same night and it was the first time both Edinburgh sides had beat the Old Firm on the same day since 29/4/1972

Hibs play their first ever match at McDiarmid Park the first new purpose built football Stadium in the UK. A near capacity crowd witnessed a tepid affair Alex Miller’s struggling side earning a 1-1 draw

Hibernian 2 v 2 Rangers

Callachan
Irvine

A pulsating match that HIBS were unlucky not to win as Gordon Durie almost opened his account with a raking drive that struck the crossbar

The ballboys at the Rangers end were decked out in Rangers tracksuits this was after the ballboys at the last home match versus Hearts were pelted with missiles

10/11/1979 Scottish League Premier Division

Hibernian 1 v 1 Kilmarnock

MacLeod

Hibs were a worrying five points adrift at the foot of the table Newly promoted Kilmarnock were a decent side and had already defeated HIBS home and away in the League Cup HIBS enjoyed the bulk of possession but George Maxwell gave the visitors a half-time lead

The half time draw was made out on the pitch by none other than signing target George Best I was one of many in the old North Enclosure craning my neck to get a glimpse of his beautiful wife Angie in the Centre Stand

Ally MacLeod equalised for HIBS in the second half

10/11/1973 Scottish League Division One
