IIRC the sub rule for European competition was different from domestic a squad of players 17 as opposed to two named 13 at that time

A pulsating match that HIBS were unlucky not to win as Gordon Durie almost opened his account with a raking drive that struck the crossbar from a Ralph Callachan free kick
The ballboys at the Rangers end were decked out in Rangers tracksuits this was after the ballboys at the last home match versus Hearts were pelted with missiles
Jackie McNamara had to come off early as Stewart Munro appeared to accidentally stand on his right leg and was replaced by Willie Jamieson
Hibs opened the scoring on 27 minutes with a flying Ralph Callachan header from a deep Alan Sneddon cross Rangers equalised against the run of play from a suspiciously offside position through Cammy Fraser
18 minutes into the second half Brian Rice threaded through a beautiful pass for Willie Irvine to run onto and calmly slot the ball underneath the diving Girvan Lighthouse and into the Rangers net
Davy Copper slotted a ball in at the far post on 70 minutes for the equaliser
Craig Paterson played for Rangers in this game
Special mention to Tommy Faither Craig who put his bits on for this game and worked his socks off

For any much younger readers (are there any ? lol). Bremner was a veteran who’d been one of the top midfielders in England for a decade or so. He was 5ft 6 (max) and was a snarling, dirty, very talented leader of men type of player. Prone to a bevvy and misdemeanours off the field, particularly with Scotland.
