Have we had any leaks about the new strips?

If we could just get a re-make of the early seventies bottle green with club crest then keep it for ten years, I would be very happy.

Not seen any leaks at all but definitely hoping for a retro shirt in 2025 for our 150th birthday. Would love a no sponsor with a old badge but doubtful that happens.

Think some Hibs kids are getting a preview of it on the 1st June as part of a competition that’s being run so shouldn’t be long after that it’s released I’d have thought.

I took a bit of a tantrum when I heard it was Joma as I associate that with pub teams, under 9 kits and hockey shoes but I’ve been pleasantly surprised, I’ve quite liked their kits to be honest.

Not been a big fan of the training gear but it’s been alright.

The brand snob in me would still love an Adidas kit but I don’t care really, I don’t wear them anyway.

I’d love a proper retro brand like Sergio Tacchini, **** knows if they’ve ever even made a football top mind you. Or get the old fashioned football brands out like Bukta, Admiral, Patrick etc.

I’d love adidas.

People go on about how you’ll get a template but nobody has a kit like ours. I’d be more concerned about that if I was someone with a basic blue/red or something strip.

I’d also love Le Coq Sportif again. They do a Brazilian team and the strips they do for them are a thing of beauty.

100% agree re adidas. The Hibs kit will.always be unique so any adidas template islikely to be far cooler than some random brand non template.

:agree:

There is a reason the old Adidas Hibs kits sell for a fortune on ebay!

I'd actually argue that reason is nostalgia. The same reason a gameboy colour costs as much second hand now as it did back when it was released, the people who remember it from their youth now have disposable income to buy these things that bring them happy memories or they couldn't afford at the time.

I don't think there's any kit manufacturer out there who would massively impact the sales of our replica strip as it's a finite market. We have the fans who buy a strip every year because it's what they do, the ones who never buy a strip regardless of what it looks like as they will just never wear it. The group in the middle have got to be a real minority within the fan base.

For me it's who gives us the best deal financially, while still giving the club input in to the output so it feels uniquely Hibs. Smaller manufacturer such as JOMA seem to be doing so right now.

Mixed bag from Joma for me.

Last year's home and away were good, particularly the away. The 3rd was awful but then I hate yellow Hibs kits so would say that.

This year's home looks like something from a dodgy market stall in Marmaris. Totally overdesigned, white shoulders which is a pet hate of mine too. Away is decent and good to try something different. 3rd is different class, best they have done for us by a distance.

Yeah nostalgia, agreed mate and because they are rare. But the Adidas thing makes a difference - why don't the Mitre or Bukta strips from just after that time sell for as much?

A good deal financially is important. But it's also important the team looks good on the pitch. Hibs have won 4 trophies in 40 years, and the strips have all been classics- maybe not a coincidence:greengrin

Hope we get something simple finally. Green body, white sleeves, white collar. Plain white shorts and green socks with white turnovers

Do what you want with the away or the 3rd kit but for once please keep the home kit simple. It doesn’t need to be flashy, we’re no some nondescript team in red or blue that you can’t distinguish

New purple training kits worn by the women’s team in their latest post about sponsorship.

If you remember Hibs revealed a mint trading kit before they revealed the away kit was to be the ‘cabbage’ mint colour.

Think we are a stick on for a purple away next season.

That sounds great. After the last couple of tops being really busy with lots of detail, we must be due a plain kit.

There was some research a few years ago that looked at success rate of teams based on strip colour.

Barely any teams play in green, so the source data will be very low, win or lose.

To do with the anti Irish / Catholic stance back in the Victorian times when most football clubs were formed.

Wonder how long it'll be before people accept that Adidas making our kits will only be the same as Nike a few years ago. Stock based crap with a Hibs badge on it (cheaper to buy from an outlet and make your won tbh).

They have, but the training gear etc is all catalogue crap with a badge on it for ridiculous prices.

Kit wise I could understand it if we get something a bit more Hibs than stock crap. But all the rest.. £40 + quid for a Nike tshirt with a Hibs badge on it... Same top online with no badge is like 12 or 13 quid.

Nostalgia wise I'd love to see a classic Adidas kit like the early 90s but it won't ever happen. Unless we went with someone who could actually recreate something similar.

Celtic’s adidas training gear has been very nice. Adidas would be a superb Hibs kit maker I can almost guarantee.

We're not a big enough draw for adidas though. It's about the sales of stuff. Yes initially people will go nuts for it but inevitably it will drop off as families with kids struggle to justify x2 £50/£55 quid kits, x2 £45 quid tracksuit tops etc, also for adults it'll be more expensive...

So lets assume we get a bespoke Hibs training range.. They'll be priced the same as the Bayern or Man Utd stuff.. Is that right for a club of Hibs size with a family orientation? £65 quid for a top, £45 quid for a training shirt, £75 or £80 for a zip up jacket?

Re last Para- why not?

Aberdeen one this season is a throwback to their classic 80s kit....

26785

It's a cracking kit and I'm sure a Hibs version from Adidas would be superb. But it was also £65 quid when new... £65 quid. Same as buying a PSG shirt from JD Sports etc.
Whereas our home kit was £55 and while not adidas was still an individual style. £10 quid difference. Maybe to some folk it's not a lot but I don't get the fascination with the big brands when they more often than not do paint by numbers stuff for clubs outside the FIFA video game top 25.

Even the Yams kit from Umbro.. £52 quid, yes it's a horrible shade of bloody turd but still £52 quid. Not £65 or more.

Trinity Hibee

It's just common sense.. example A. here - https://shop.afc.co.uk/item/4689/afc/AFC-CON22-PRE-JKT-YOUTH-SAND.html

all football kits are way overpriced nowadays so not sure an extra £5 is really going to make much difference for most people.

Anyway, I’m a fan of adidas/Nike kits whereas you don’t seem to be. Just not a fan of these smaller brands like macron and Joma. They have their names plastered all over the back of a lot of the training stuff which I am not a fan of.

What Hibs do need to do is let fans design the kits. The stuff I see on twitter is way better than what we usually end up with.

Plymouth had a very nice home kit this season. Think it was puma? Would be a great Hibs kit

Wonder how long it'll be before people accept that Adidas making our kits will only be the same as Nike a few years ago. Stock based crap with a Hibs badge on it (cheaper to buy from an outlet and make your won tbh).

I'd love to see someone like Lotto, Mizuno, Kelme, Diadora or Hummel. Just been impressed with some of their recent work.

Hopefully a wee sneak preview of the kits later on tonightThe 2016 home kit is beautiful. Much better than any **** since

It's been a long time since I've been impressed by anything from Nike or Adidas. It feels like they just don't care and will put some rubbish template and people will lap it up.

I'm not the biggest fan of Joma or Macron, as I said before I would love to see something from Mizuno, Kelme or a good ol traditional make like Lotto or Umbro.

For me it's more about the identity of Hibs rather than the maker, Nike and adidas couldn't give a toss who we are. Just give us a catalogue and they'll mass print some guff. Nike seem more focused on designer wear , NFL/NBA etc and trainers, adidas on football equipment, boots and their brand exclusive tre-foil stuff i.e. California t-shirts and collabs with celebrities etc.

Unless we can somehow get Nike to do a AIK style range, now that I would buy

Whilst it would be controversial in breaking with tradition, these strips are magnificent and think it would be popular overall.

why not just reproduce those beauties as away kits rather than upsetting everyone by replacing the green home shirt?

Well firstly it wouldn't upset everyone. Poll on twitter right now asking the question if a good idea or bad and there is a slight majority for it.

Majority of Bayern Munich fans really like the similar change so potential for similar here.

As an away strip it doesnt really work that well, befause we only need a change strip v Celtic, and we couldnt wear it v them.

It would make the return of the traditional home strip the following season a bit more exciting.

And as you say looks good.

I understand some people are wedded to tradition and not everyone would be in favour but variety is the spice of life sometimes.:greengrin

I really don't like the white kit with green sleeves or white and red in the case of BM.

If you were putting together an outfit to go out and wore a tank top it would generally be darker than the shirt or T shirt you were wearing. Same with any layering, the darker colours tend to go on top. Putting light over dark just looks wrong to me.

The white body and green sleeves just doesn't work for me for that reason. The last effort from Macron was howling. Looked like the players were wearing training bibs over a green shirt.

Hearing that the home shirt is relatively plain, white round neck with thin green lines in it and the same detailing on the sleeve edges similar to the Scotland 150 top.

It's a style Joma have used before in both their template and bespoke range.

There is quite often a few clues in the leisure and training wear that is released before the kits themsleves.

You won’t get three stripes on the sleeves of Adidas kits now. Been like that for a few years now. Just on the shoulders. Takes away a lot from the iconic look which rules them out for me now. Used to love all things Adidas but their new football kits are rubbish imo.

why is it that the kit ideas that fans come up with are always so much better than what we actually get?

it seems to be the simplest thing in the world to design a quality, smart, stylish kit that fans will love, and yet clubs consistently get it wrong, year after year.

Ye think that’s right. Nike complained and it’s meant adidas had to remove the stripes from the sleeve but could remain on the shoulder. Don’t really understand how they managed that tbh, loved the stripes on the sleeve

The sleeve stripes being shortened is largely to do with leaving space for competition patches, sleeves sponsors etc. There are regulation regarding them too though.

The days of the stripes being incorporated into the design are gone though because of FIFA rules on sponsorship and branding placement. Think Liverpool 1992, France 1996, Bayern 1993 or Arsenal 93 away. You just won't get a kit like that now beyond them being released as 'lifestyle' or 'heritage' lines.

Weirdly I disagree on purple. I love it and most of my favourite Hibs kits are purple.

Weird how it splits our fans so much. People either love it or hate it.

Yeah, believe it or not my Wife bought us the purple away tops a few years back, I think there were bits of yellow flashings or something on the sleeves which was quite striking and took away the monotony of a plain and boring top

I love white with added green, it adds a freshness to the top, black with green isnt too bad either and I just love the brightness and freshness of yellow

Digital mock ups are always going to look better than actual kits. If you stick 3/4’s of the mock ups you see on an actual shirt and take photos of it in real lighting and shadows they would look garbage.

I get your point but I’m talking about just a nice simple smart kit. we get one of those maybe a couple of times a decade. The rest of the time it’s monstrosities like the ghastly 2018-19 effort, with emerald green gradually merging into a dark bottle green splurge, or the one with a map scrawled across it like a toddler was let loose with a crayon.

This is true, some of these mock ups would look horrendous if produced as a real top.

Because designing things for yourself has zero real world constraints.

That’s not to excuse some pretty terrible kits, but ultimately clubs operate under a whole bunch of constraints when designing kits;

• Budget - how much cash is available to work up concepts, is the supplier willing to do custom stuff or do we have to choose from templates?

• Sponsors - How big do they want their logo? Are they insisting it can’t be over a pattern? What colour does it have to be?

• Manufacturing - Can the cool pattern we’ve designed actually be printed? Can it go all the way round or just the front?

And so on and so on. That’s not to say the mock ups in this thread aren’t well done by any means, just that ultimately all the constraints and requirements put on real kit designers will invariably restrain what they can produce.

I hope whatever design we have is simple. The Hibernian kits are a thing of beauty, they don't need any tweaking. That faded diamond thing we had under Lennon for instance. Horrendous. Or the two tone "down the slope" 2012 cup final kit. Almost impossible to make a poor Hibs strip but jazzing it up usually results in one.

I'd imagine a basic green and white home kit like the one mocked up above would cost significantly less than that custom Joma monstrosity from this season.

I'd imagine a basic green and white home kit like the one mocked up above would cost significantly less than that custom Joma monstrosity from this season.

If it's from stock items like most major brands do then yeah it probably would cos less in terms of manufacturing etc, but it'd still be sold for £60 + based on current rates.

I would like to see a simple kit like above from anyone, the brand is irrelevant in all honesty. The first kit from Joma was nice, this years isn't my cup of tea. The black 3rd kit is a cracker.

My suspicion with that is someone either at Joma, the club or both going out of their way to show we don’t have to go with a stock template / can do custom stuff.

Whether it was a good idea or not is a different issue, but it’s another constraint. If your marketing manager is insisting there has got to be a custom print etc and won’t hear another word on the subject…

Isnt this the same for every club? That’s true but it might boost sales to have ready in the the shop for the last home game of the season. That way they would guarantee it to be ready for summer holidays and Father’s Day.

If they did that every year you’d still get a full year out the kit.

There must be a risk of exhaustion and subsequent breakdown for a lot of players at the top level given the schedule of the last 2-3 years that continues into next summer.

Played through season 20/21, Euros in summer 2021, season 21/22, summer break, season 22/23 starts, winter world cup, season resumes and continues into June, international games then a 2-3 week break before pre season starts. They will then have next season and straight into another Euros.

That's a crazy schedule for guys who are playing 50-60 games a season.

Would the majority of players not have benefited from an additional break during the World Cup though? They’re back earlier now but they don’t normally get 2 or 3 weeks off in December.

Very few players and certainly none at Hibs had to play all the way through the World Cup.

That's minted, would love that to be our home shirt.

I like the design and if remade could be a great kit.
(needs to drop the gold though)

Just buy the new golf top regardless if you play golf

Superb

Yellow spoils it for me. Don't mind a yellow strip with green highlights but not bits of yellow on a predominantly green strip. Just my take on it.

The yellow one looks alright. The bottom two look like training tops.

Invert the sleeve colours on the second one and it would be more like it

They are all away to Dubai and Miami on the pish. The quicker we get them back to HTC the better.

Come on everyone needs a decent relaxing holiday

I did say the top level which sadly I don't think applies to us. Senior internationalists will have been playing pretty much non stop for 3 years come the end of next season.

Agree it is ridiculous

Not seen a pic of that one yet. Sounds good to me as I liked the top in general

Can't even think of buying another top until they move away from the "fitted" style. The merest hint of a beer belly and they look rank and I have more than a hint.

My BIL gave my laddie a Scotland top which is a large. In today's sizes it's probably a 3xl
