I thought Maloney made a bit of a pig's ear of Monday, particularly down our LHS. But that was free hit territory and even if we'd been at our best we'd have probably been beaten so he's very much excused.

It's early in his reign and he certainly deserves an opportunity to experiment. But this is a hugely important game for us and many of us have earmarked it as a potential banana skin. Jack Ross took criticism for struggling to win big games, but he earned some of those big games by getting the job done consistently against smaller teams.

Whether it is Hallberg playing CH for the first time for us in his first outing for us in months, or it is a lefty playing on the right there is a risk being taken with the way we're lining up at the back.

The middle, and the JDH/ Newell axis is arguably the bit that needs shaken up the most (other than the wonky LHS from the other night).

FWIW I really like the front three - although there is again a bit of a risk going on there with debutantes, players playing there who haven't played much lately and combinations of players who haven't played for us before. It's also depriving Nisbet of the chance to get goals and play his way out of his malaise.

If this was late Lennon era we'd be going ballistic. But since it's early Maloney it will be accepted.

One goal win, into the next round and it's job done. But I'm probably a bit more uneasy about this than I should be.

Although now I think about it, Hallberg playing a bit of football from the back the same way McTominay has for Scotland might make some sense. There's probably a reasonable team there with that change being the only one really meriting a raised eyebrow. And we are short of centre halves.

This is the most unstructured Hibernian side I've seen since JC started farting about and it will be against a sound, solid confident Cove side.

Never thought Hallberg was worthy of a regular place in the Hibs team and was certain he'd be away during this window. However I remember him filling in at right back in an away cup tie up north somewhere and doing a good job. He seldom actually tackles his midfield opponents and just tries to jockey and close them down so I am concerned about his ability to defend, block and tackle.

Maloney's left side picks verus Celtic proved to be a disaster. Got to be Stevenson behind Doig. Campbell must start sharply from kick off as he has been taking too long to get into the games.

Glad to see Henderson starting and hopefully his dead ball expertise will bear fruit.

Hopefully Mueller does well and can pick up Boyler's baton.

Agree with Campbell but think Henderson has been fine. Made a few decent runs but the defence/Newell refuse to try and find him.

Should of scored a few that first half. Slow start from Henderson but grew into the game, Mueller looks a good signing and looking for the ball all the time.

Hibs have been a bit slow and not willing to take chances going forward. West Stand linesman is having a mare. Mueller looks decent. Overall if Hibs up the pace we will win by a couple of goals

After a bright start to his 1st 5-6 games, he's been garbage the last 2-3 and looks particularly slow and poor tonight, I think if we want to improve Campbell is purely a squad player, would've preferred to see Allan on tonight to give us that creativity and forward thinking.
