I'd imagine discussions will be underway between Hibs and the council following yesterday's statement from Sturgeon about a move to level 0.
The maximum number we can let in without having to ask for permission for more will be 2,000 so considering we were allowed 2,000 in last night under level 2 restrictions, I would hope that somewhere in the region of 6-8,000 might be allowed next week.
I would also expect the kick off time to be updated on the website once our two potential opponents play tomorrow and we know who we will be playing.

A great workout for the team and the result will boost confidence. We won’t play that quality in the spl.

It was a big step up from anyone we'd be playing in the League Cup group stages, as was Stoke so i'm pleased about that even though they were friendlies. It would be nice to ramp it up again against Raith Rovers on Friday who had a good result last night.

Was surprised to see Bradley start as he never got much time last season but thought he played well and was unlucky not to score when he hit the post.
Hopefully he can push on from here and have a good season as I think he has good potential.

Tambo, think he had quite a few injuries last season. He’s also grown considerably in that time. Seemingly highly rated at Hibs, so hope he can kick on and get a number of appearances this season

For those who haven’t been around ER for a while in a car, like me. The tram works on Leith Walk will cause you major delays before and after the game. Some of the side streets on London Rd are blocked off too
I had to turn left at Easter Rd to get near the ground
Only 2000 or so last night, but hate to think how bad it will be when we get bigger crowds in
Just one negative from me, on what was a great evening, one of the young lads I take, wasn’t allowed to take his pizza into the ground, had to eat it outside before they stewards allowed him. Not a big deal on a lovely night, but Hibs need to be clear on what you can or can’t bring into the stadium

Thought Stevenson was very good last night.
He was outstanding!
Perfectly summed up his performance in the dying seconds when he's marking Lacazette from their corner. In an obvious training ground move Lacazette runs around the crowed box seemingly losing Stevenson, but oh no! Stevenson runs round the front of the crowd, beats Lacazette to the ball and blooters it clear. Majestic bit of defending so late into an obviously draining game. What a man!!
Other than maybe the Huns with Tav and that young Patterson, we must have the best wing back cover in the league with Doig or Stevenson and McGinn or Cadden.

I think he did but also was on the bench a few times where I thought he could do with the minutes then also thought he would of been loaned out but never. Thought he looked the real deal in the 0-4 Hamilton game all be it we was in cruise control and only featured for 5 minutes or so.
Also Gogic needs to shave his head again.

Bradley looks very skilful, comfortable on the ball and a lefty too, you can never have enough of them. :greengrin
I saw someone post they would like to see him go out on loan, but on last nights performance, i can see him get a good bit of game time by staying.
I think he might be ready for us now, and would improve by staying and getting games for us.

We have 4-5 players who can play wide, so we can play with inverted wingers or just out and out wingers which gives us good options. Also interesting to see Ross go with the one striker, I wonder if this will be the way forward.

Plays on opposite side from favoured foot...cuts inside with the ball, rather than outside like a traditional winger....I think.

Horgan and Murphy are both right footed who prefer playing on the left, it means if you have 1 striker the 2 wide men cut inside to give a front 3, think Liverpool with Salah and Mane.

Bingo, ideally played with an overlapping full-back to run in to the wingers space once they have cut inside.

Think I have it now, have to say it was all a lot simpler when I use to watch Arthur Duncan rampaging down the slope as a straight forward left winger.
Anyway thanks to all for your educational input into today's game, appreciated 👍

All the media and fans do is say Arsenal need to spend more. That's not the issue and it's not true. In just the past three season they've bought - Pepe €80M, Partey 50m, Gabriel 26m, Saliba 30m, Tierney 27m, Torreira 28m, Leno 25m. Available funds isn't the problem.

Have they? I genuinely don’t know, but from looking at their squad they’ve signed tierney recently who misses a ton of games, willian who has been absolute garbage, some 21 year old from benfica who’s hardly played any games for them, Partay who has been average at best.
To close the gap they need to sign better players than the teams above them. Man Utd look like they’re about to sign Varane and Sancho. Chelsea seem to want Chiesa and Halland and bought a few of the brightest talents in European football last season.

Pepe and Partey are fair enough. Other than that though, spending £20 odd million puts you on a par with the mid table teams in the Premiership. McBurnie was £25m. Chelsea spent £220m or something and signed Thiago Silva on a free on top of that last season alone.
If they don’t spend more then they won’t get the talent they require to close the gap. They need more players in the Pepe price range and they need those players to work out a lot better than Pepe has.
Whilst it’s not all about spending money at our level, at that level it pretty much is. It’s the only way you’re getting world class players who are ready to compete at the very top. If you don’t spend it then you won’t be competing.

Would they be significantly happier if their player had scored the 1 on 1 after Hanlon’s gaffe and our 2nd had been ruled out for offside (which it surely would with English VAR?)and they’d won 2-1?
It was a kick about. We played well, they looked rusty and like they had a decent amount of preseason work ahead of them.
The reaction to a friendly does seem a bit hysterical.
I wouldn’t argue that they don’t need a couple of players but it will be tough for any team to settle and play with a following who seem that tetchy.

One of the things putting me off wanting to go back was the rule against "excessive singing, shouting and celebrating" which Hibs announced pre-match so I just wondered if this had been strictly enforced.

It's ridiculous that you can sit inside in a pub no mask, you can sit outside in multiple combination of 15 different people from 15 different etc and yet you are expected to sit out doors in a well ventilated stadium with a mask on.

I totally agree. The rules are incoherent which just leads to them being ignored. No issue with masks on access and egress where everyone will be closer together but in the stadium it is just stupid.

Partey was playing every week for Atletico. He was brilliant for them, and was excellent the night they knocked Liverpool out at Anfield. Chelsea were linked with him last summer. He's a very highly rated player.
You can't just sign 11 guys who'd get in city's team. Would you say Robertson, Salah, Mane or Wijnaldum would've walked into citys team when Liverpool signed them? Yet Liverpool built a brilliant side over 3/4 years.
Now, I'm not saying Arsenal will do that, but if they do, it won't be overnight

What surprised me a little was that the stadium announcer was actively encouraging the crowd to cheer or roar (I can't remember exactly the term he used) the team onto the park. The stewards weren't interested in what people were doing or not doing as far as I could see.
No criticism from me on any of this - common sense applied under the circumstances.

Yes I do find that a little bit strange considering the warnings the club put out pre-match.
I suppose they'll say they only discouraged "excessive shouting" which is completely open to interpretation.

Arsenal are a huge club, though. Daft to say otherwiseI think what we're getting it is they are no longer in the same category as runaways Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea.
That lot ARE a class above Arsenal.
Sorry, but guys like Lacazette are decent, but they aren't EPL league winning standard. Not even close.
Hibs, like Arsenal, have good history. History doesn't win you anything though.

My good friend is a lifelong gooner, was disenchanted towards the end of Wengers reign and recently said to me they are only going to go backwards for the foreseeable future as they only really get to sign to players who are below the current top teams radar.
He believes the last two owners have taken out more than they've put in and until Kronke moves on they will struggle to get top 4.
He thinks the FA cup has become more important to Arsenal than the rest of the bigger teams.

It was actually OK and helped the atmosphere

Arsenal are in the market now for players the top teams don't want. :agree:

I don't think Arsenal are as bad as some are making out but they do lack a bit of steel and in my opinion got rid of their best keeper.
Still a bit to do, top 6 prediction for the coming season, probably 6th!
Could do with another centre back, a fit Party and a consistent Pepe.

Thanks. Glad mask restrictions are continuing for lots of places but for stadiums and for the 10 seconds before you sit down and remove it in a cafe/pub seems a bit silly.

On the pitch. Although you'd think Arsenal have been rubbish for years the way you are speaking. Not really been the case. Finished above all those sides you've mentioned in the last 4/5 years. Certainly not some cut and dry thing. They've won more than United in the last 6/7 years as well.
They're not a great team, but undoubtedly a huge club. Much more successful than City or Chelsea. Arsenal beat Chelsea twice, and took 4 points off United last season. Suggests they're not really a class behind on their day.
Let's not compare Hibs and Arsenal history. They're actually in a different class to us.

I see Arsenal are being linked with Tammy Abraham. And Chelsea have had a big rejected for Halland.
That’s why they won’t close the gap imo. Infact, they’ll keep falling further and further behind.

Do you actually think either of those transfers will happen? Cant see it at all.
3 years ago, Arsenal signed a top class striker from Dortmund and binned their 2nd choice off to Chelsea.

The second choice striker Arsenal got rid of has went on to achieve a lot more, since then, than the world class replacement they brought in.
Big chance Halland ends up at Chelsea IMO. Their owner is one of the very few who will put his hand in his pocket and pay the money required.

He achived it because of the quality of the teams and manager. Chelsea are no doubt a better squad. Aubameyang has scored more than double his goals in that time, including 2 against Chelsea in the FA cup final.
Dortmund have said they aren't selling him this summer. Take that as you will, but I don't think he'll move this summer.

I'd be surprised if Halland goes to Chelsea. He's the most sought after player in the world along with Mbabbe.
He's a stick on for Real IMO.

I’m not sure either will happen but it’s a pretty clear indication as to the markets they’re in.
I actually like Arsenal. They’re probably my favourite English team but they’re more best of the rest than one of the best nowadays and I know that won’t change anytime soon.

Whilst I prefer fans to show respect to other clubs (when that respect has been in some way or other earned) I agree with you about Arsenal’s standing in the game. They have a great history, a massive fan base and have still been “sort of achieving” in spite of being far from their best in recent years.
I get quite pissed off at the respect shown to Scottish football by fans of no-mark clubs down South who know f all about football and f all about anything other than the money bloated Premier League era.
Arsenal are a top club from a top league, maybe only lacking a bit of concrete European achievement. It’s a bit easier to take a bit of disrespect from their morons than from twats who support Bournemouth etc and got into football 5 years ago.
Now they recon we have given them their second worst defeat under Arteta. Only the 0-3 by Villa is ranked worse.

2. Hibernian 2-1 Arsenal (July 2021)
"Don't be fooled into thinking Arteta fielded a weakened team against Hibs or that he was purely looking to give players a runout. The Spaniard even said after the game a number of the decisions he made with his starting XI were tactical and he played a very strong team.
Eddie Nketiah missed an absolute sitter early on before Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo made a clown of himself by looking like a drunk who'd found a football outside a pub as he tried to hack a clearance clear, allowing Martin Boyle to tap into an empty net.
Arteta threw more of his big-name players on in the second half but their plight only got worse as more abject defending allowed Daniel MacKay to head home at the back post to make it 2-0 to the home side.
Emile Smith Rowe grabbed a late consolation but it proved to be an embarrassing evening for Arsenal."

But that’s OK. Only around seven or eight teams in the world, all in Europe, are in the market for the worlds best players. Arsenal aren’t one of them. Neither are a load of massive clubs with massive supports. It’s just something individual fans need to accept.

I had the immense pleasure of having a beer with Johnny MacLeod before the game on Tuesday. Up from London, he came into the Iona with his son - I nearly fell off my chair. What a star, what a gentleman. The Barcelona game is second only to 2016 in my list of most memorable games. Without Johnny, it's possible it wouldn't have ranked in the top 10. :flag:

My point was they have spent plenty even for the league they are in. More than everyone in England bar 3 clubs in the past 5 years. But still fans and media trot out the 'don't spend enough' excuse. It's not the spending, its the management and the players they are spending the money on that is the problem for them on the park.

That’s fair. If they’ve spent more than everyone bar 3 then it would look like it’s been spent on far too many players and also the wrong players.

Tend to agree not really sure what position he plays centre back mostly. Personally thought Dunk and Webster were better defenders last season. Good athlete probably could play right back or centre defensive midfield also. Seems overpriced and Brighton will be delighted he got called into the England squad recently
