I can't imagine having him till the end of the season would be a bad thing at all.
I'd be sceptical however about the merits of having him any longer than that.
Do we have a strikers coach? We need one I think. Although we do have Colin Nish on the staff.....
I could suffer the wee **** again for a spell.

Did his injury at ER not pretty much retire him??
Yeh, I think so. The Cat could probably answer that one. If it's a bad an injury as they said at the time, he'll probably be out for a good while.
I wish him well but would rather we looked forward than back re. taking him on as a player however, I can see him in a coaching role at ER at some point in the future.

Yeah he’s the one telling folk he’s got a deal till summer. Maybe Lennon just holding it back? I know players have signed before and the club have said nothing till days later. Unless he’s just lying to everyone 😂
He’s also very good mates with Rherras!
that's true i remember putting on the bounce that garry O'Connor had signed, it wasn't announced for a fortnight because he was away to Dubai on holiday. the abuse i got was out of order but when he came back from his hols there he was scarf above his head!

Yeah some folk can get very impatient when in reality some deals take a while and others get done yet they wait for various reasons to tell the press and fans. I’ve had a few digs in the past but water off a ducks back, I post what I hear some happen some don’t!

I would take him - still does a job at 38 and the youngsters (shaw and murray) could learn from him. Also can play in the AM position which we could use...didn't he just take up a coaching role at greyskull?

If there was the merest chance of bringing Kenny Miller to Hibs even until the end of the season we should try - it would be a masterstroke for a number of positive reasons - mostly for the experience he could lend to the front men at present and the boost it would bring to the squad - he's a top lad, speaks well, top professional - the antithesis of AS.
I saw him as he was carried off at ER and he was in extreme pain, thought at the time that it may see him end the playing days. If he's fit and can even play a third of a game he would bring goals to the team, especially with the pace we have up top. I really can't see it though (sadly).

Doolan mentioned on the Time for Heroes DVD that KM came over to him whilst he was standing at dressing room door and congratulated him. He said he wanted to go in but didn’t want to interrupt the celebrations. Doolan told him to go in and he did.
Niw that’s a true pro as that must have hurt given the nature of the defeat!

If we sign Kenny Miller can we get the Record back(I hate them too) to take a real look at our recruitment. The Cup Final may have been a nice touch but he hasn't exactly held back on his celebrations when he has scored against us. That's his right and it's mine to loathe him for the way he plays up to the Hun morons.

Nothing to do with celebrations against us as he's always given 100% as a player for us Celtic rangers Wolves etc but I would question the recruitment at this stage if he was brought in. In fact I already have so it wouldn't matter much. How he's back in training is a minor miracle though and well done to him and all the best to him. We can't go from slagging Steven Naismith off to signing Kenny. No danger.

I’m quite sure the recruitment dept have no problem ignoring fans (correctly) on message boards. I’m hard on Whittaker because I was one of the ones who thought he would be good. I realised after 3 league games he was done though. He’s got worse since and he was carrying an injury lately but he was done from the moment he arrived.

Whittaker didn't put a transfer request in, straight forward move to Rangers.
O'Connor signed a contract extension so as Hibs would get a decent fee for him from the Russian club.
Stokes scored a bucket load and got his move to Celtic and again made us some money.
Riordan ran his contract down and out of the ones we're discussing is the nearest to Allen re the way he went about his move but Hibs did get something from the deal, £150k.

Can remember one of his earlier games when he played centre mid in the league cup and he was amazing. Set up one of the goals with a pinpoint pass. He has struggled recently no doubt injury related however he remains one of the most technical players we have and is definitely an asset if he gets back to fitness.

We only got cash for him because he the club backed down. He signed a contract with Celtic that would put him out of the game for a couple of months until his birthday towards the end of January when he could sign for nothing. If we had refused to let him go in the summer (a bit like we refused to sell SA) he would have left for nothing.
Only difference in fans reaction to then is that one is a Hibby, the other isn't.

They are owned by Vincent Tan, he's worth 1.2 billion.
So Scott Alan over rated WOW great player simple as if we lost Dylan ! then i would get him in
I would get him in anyway. He creates chances from midfield. Rarely scores right enough but it’s a start. Wouldn’t cost a fee and his wage demands won’t be as high now as they were two seasons ago.

I watched the game on Alba and he made about 4 telling creative passes in 10 minutes on the pitch when he came on, hate how he tried to get his move but there's no denying the guy is a class player but only when he can be bothered.

Hard to know what you base that opinion on. He was a joy to watch for the one full season we got out of him. Lack of goals would be the only minus point, but his creativity was second to none in the Championship and it's just a shame his head wasn't screwed on right in terms of making the most of his career.

Retaining McGeough is far more important than signing a player that Dundee put on the bench. Scott Allan has burned his bridges with Hibs. We can't be offloading players for having a bad attitude to then sign up another player with a bad attitude.

Allan’s career had already stalled due to his Billy Big Baws attitude and we gave him his chance to kickstart it. He repaid us by booting us firmly in the chuckies, his behaviour after hearing of Rangers interest was an absolute disgrace.

Whether that is through poor strikers or tactics is up for debate. I would even ditch one or both wingers occasionally and start playing the midfielders a lot closer together.

I agree and the fact Lennon chose to bring him off the Bench suggests he will get mote game time in next few games
Crazy to loan him out if he can now kick on after all the different issues he had to contend with recently
Lennon may have been happy not to quash the loan rumours so Danny knew he either now buckles down and concentrates on getting his Hibs career back on track or he gets loaned out and possibly his dream move ends in a way Swanson wouldn't have wanted
Big few games coming up and Lennon's options to freshen up the Squad is limited so its a no Brainer for Danny to get more game time and then its down to his performances to dictate he stays and helps us to stay in fourth place

So Scott Allan we just sign him based on his performance in the Championship which from what I have seen of him before and since was easily his best ever season.
There is no way I can ignore his attitude while here at end and possibly more importantly his football since Hibs. That simply cannot be ignored he has done nothing for what 3 years. Even Stubbs took him to Rotherham the only manager to get a tune out him and he did nothing. With all that has gone on this season and how he was while here and since this trumps any ability he may still have.
He would be on a hiding to nothing if didn't perform that added to the only tangible evedince he was good is over 3 years and several clubs ago tells me to stay well clear.
The last thing we require is somebody whom we have seen has an attitude issue.

He is diabetic, yeah. If he's not controlling it in order to be fit to play football, then I'd question his attitude.
I am diabetic myself, and I am well aware of how difficult it is to control on a daily basis. However, I bust a gut to make sure I am as good as I can be. If I had the fortune to be in the position where I was a very talented footballer, I'd double my efforts to ensure it impacted me as little as possible. Diabetes can be a hindrance, but here I think it's his attitude, to be honest.
All of that said, I'd have no objection to him returning, provided he was prepared to knuckle down.

I don't know about that mate. You'll know more than me about the condition right enough, but surely it has varying effects on different people and the way their body can control it. Professional footballers (most of them!) are far more fitter than us regular guys and I imagine it takes quite a bit extra for someone like him to get to the required level of fitness.
I don't know much about Allan's condition other than he was reported as being great in helping at Hibs with spreading the word and educating young people.

Scott Allan was head and shoulders above most players in the Championship. Loved watching him. I'd give most players a second chance but the way he treated Hibs after rescuing him from the scrapheap was atrocious. Derailed the start of our season when the points could have seen us promoted. He's bad news as Dundee United fans will testify. Best avoided.

Cardiff definitely have enough money to bid for SJM. Warnock has been to Tan and has been given funds for a promotion push. Already signed Grujic on loan from Liverpool and Grabban having a medical soon apparently. Warnock has earned Tans trust so is likely to be given funds to sign whoever he wants.
SJM would be perfect for Cardiff. Combative midfielder with a bit of quality. Right up Warnocks street.

If we sell SJM on the 31st we may not necessarily buy or loan a player the same day.
Plenty decent players that will be good enough for us will be released on 31st January and we can sign them any time afterwards,

I wasn't targeting you as not being a hibby to be fair.
Merely pointing out the doom and gloom surrounding your posts which is your prerogative of course however McGeouch is still a Hibernian player for now as is SJM (maybe not for very much longer very regrettably if the reports are to be believed) and I have no doubt whatsoever that the board would not engage in 'impulse buying'.

I take offence at your post from the point that it was not me that raised either the possibility of McGeogh going to the Dons or that both they and Hearts are in an financial sense maybe starting to pull away from Hibs. I genuinely wanted to know what we could do to halt that and what the difference was between FOH & HSL. You chose to misrepresent that for what ever reason having not taken time to read or understand my OP. Others obviously had and put forward some interesting points. You could perhaps learn from them.

Swanson and Slivka both deserve a run in the team, they've shown promise and are wasted as bit part players. Away to Celtic is as good a game as any to start them as we are expected to lose anyway.

Both Slivka and Swanson seem more attack minded midfielders than McGinn, McGeouch and Bartley. Definitely bring a better balance to the midfield and potentially help the team score more.
If McGinn leaves this window and we offload Stokes then I would like to see the funds invested in a forward or two. I think midfield is well served and Fraser Murray and Ben Stirling can fill any gaps. If we can bring in someone to partner MacLaren then we will hopefully turn chances into goals.

If we do sell any of our high value players perhaps keep a little in reserve in case Maclaren does a job and we can be in a position to offer him a deal.

Imo 6 months deals just show we either aren’t entirely convinced or they’re just signing as cover.
Bain and Rherras I get them signing short term as they’re most likely cover.
But we need a proven striker to come in and hit the ground running.
Can we rely on 20-22 year old foreign players who are here on a 6 month deal?

I think Shaw will get plenty if given the ammunition and hopefully that's what this guy will provide.

And where's all the money coming from to sign top notch quality strikers in this window?
We have just lost Stokes and we aren't going to replace him with anyone of that class in January, McLaren is a proven scorer but hasn't had a chance yet, Murray is probably now showing he's not good enough and Shaw is still a rookie learning his trade. This means we need another striker in and if Lennon feels Kamberi can do a turn for us then a 6 months deal is all we can expect in this window.

Agreed. We could really do with an old head up front. Watched Naismith in derby and he was always talking and ushering people into position. Grant Holt did similar last season. We really lack experience up front at the moment. Stokes really should have been the answer.

There will always be a need for short term deals and they serve a purpose. But I can understand some concern when it accounts for all our business in the window.

Back up keeper injured, needed another keeper, Bain was available
2 main RB's both injured and playing as CB as RB.
Main striker has done his usual massive cock up and needs emptied, need cover or a replacement.
