If true dont have a huge issue with that. Probably agent for some of their players also. As Allan situation shows they dont have the readies to pay what Hibs would accept.

What's wrong with that? People make friends all over the place. Scott Allan is best friends with Andy Halliday from Sevco, Katie has always had a strong friendship with Scott Brown etc etc. Happens everywhere.....

Lots of rumours in the past, but it's definitely happening this summer: Kenny Miller to Hibs.

He had a better goals per minutes ratio than JC last term, and l-o-v-e-s the Hibees. Really, he does.

Neil Lennon wants an experienced leader in the dressing room / someone he can punch for being an orange bassa.

Warburton is thought likely to let him go on a free, but no one knows for sure as the guy has disappeared looking for his magic hat.

And if we get through to the group stages, we could afford a far higher standard of player for our league campaign. Leeann said as much in an interview recently.

Think whoever plays will give their all but as both Leeann and Lennon have said patience is needed and the priority is the league i .l think its fair to assume that we wont have completed our signings for this Transfer window by the time we play first game in Europe and most fans have accepted that as reasonable in the circumstances
Promotion has to be our only target this year , and we must achieve that Nothing should detract from that objective

Genuine question....if you knew a player was gonna be available after the euro tranfer deadline but couldnt get beforehand, would you then spend some of your budget on another player who you could get and was eligible to play in europe....but who wouldnt be your first choice? ?

I expect them to go for the first choice. My point was that as things stand we are weaker than we were last season and training starts on Thursday. What happened to 'getting our business done early'?
The club has momentum just now and a real feel good factor. I'd hate to see that lost with a weak performance in Europe.

I think Celtic snapchat did a feature on him today, caught a bit of it, bottom line with Henderson is if Rodgers feela he can play a part we have no chance, if he feels he'll benefit from having another 35/40 starts under his belt then we stand a good chance

Not the one we are likely to play though. It is not just another pre season game. There is likely to be about 18,000 people at Easter road for the game. You would not get that for a pre season friendly.

Henderson is a very good young player but don't think he is quite ready for celtic just yet. If I was Rogers I would loan him out so he can continue to gain plenty experience but i'd be loaning him out to maybe a lower English championship/League 1 club and see how he copes with that. He's more than proved he's too good for the Scottish championship so if I was Rogers i'd be interested to loan him out and see how he can do when playing in a league with far better competition.

Think the challenge for him is with us! If he can lead us back to the SPFL and show his real qualities, then he'll be a stick on for a place in the Celtic team. Anything else is lesser and lower quality.

A source close to the player told Record Sport:

“Jason wants to play at the highest level possible.

“With a year left on his current deal and with Hibs still in Scotland’s second tier, he felt it might be worth looking at other options.

“But he was so impressed by Neil and what he had to say in Paris. He’s a manager Jason feels he’d really enjoy playing for.

“The level of player Neil has worked with and developed gives Jason encouragement for the future at Hibs.

“He’s now going to take some time and weigh things up before making a decision on whether to sign a new contract at the club. The meeting with Neil was very positive.”

Lennon said:

“We are working away in the background trying to bring in players.

“We’re looking at one or two areas of the squad to strengthen and there are players I’d like to keep - Cummings being the main one.

“I had a chat with him over the weekend and that was positive. Now we give the kid some time to go away and think about what he wants to do next.

Really ? "He's more than proved he's too good for the Scottish Championship ?" Listen I love Hendo and I would love to see him back at ER this season, but I don't remember him running the show against Falkirk in the Play-offs. he always contributed but never dominated games. I would say he proved he was good enough to play at a high level in the Scottish Championship, but too good for it? not in my book. get him back.

JC has time on his side. I think Lennon could be a great influence on him and help get his career where he wants it to be.

Hope he signs a new contract - not so much for the club's finances, but to avoid any distractions from Jan onwards. Success would mean lots of options for him next summer.

If he doesn't sign, I'd still favour keeping him for another season.

IIRC, Gary Hooper was an out and out goal scorer when he arrived at Celtic, and he then became a much more rounded centre forward - naturally you would assume Lennon had a big influence on that change. Fergie did the same when Andy Cole signed for Man United.

Both of those players were much older when that development happened. As you say, at only 20, Jason still has plenty of time to improve.

See that Neil Lennon is prioritising a striker or two.

http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/bolstering-attack-will-be-neil-lennon-s-hibs-priority-1-4160610

Wonder who he has his eye on?

I like the idea of a creative and unpredictable type like Faissal el Bakhtaoui but also a player who can hold the ball up, win headers and compliment Cummings and Keatings. Out of our possible targets who fits the bill? I must say there doesn't seem to be an obvious choice in Scottish Football.

Would also like to see Will Vaulks come in. Would also not be against us going for some Dundee United players. Simon Murray, Scott Fraser and Paul Dixon may want to jump ship.

I know where the poster is coming from. I'm a Hibs supporter, I don't want to be a Celtic feeder club or some Celtic old boys club. I know we've benefited greatly from a good relationship with them recently but there's whole world of footballers out there, we don't need to keep going back to them.

I don't think anyone is overly pally with Celtic but we have a decent relation with them and if getting the occasional good player on loan or to buy, then all good considering where we are right now. BTW McDonald as been a pro for 17 years and played 3 of those years for Celtic with 88 games for them, he played 156 for Motherwell and 116 for Middlesbrough.

Ragerly anticipating this given we are bringing in four or five players
Unless of course Leeann s exit poll pf season tickets is wrong and we go on and sell 12 ,000

Might be in the minority but nether McDonald or Heskey excite me as potential signings next year. Glad Heskey has said no and McDonald for me is an ageing past it SPL striker. Would much rather we made a real statement and went for someone like Hemmings at Dundee or Tony Watt. Two young lads with youth on their side. I do appreciate we need height in our front line for other options, what's Jan Venigoor Hessilink up to [emoji23]

Hemmings who is a key player and scorer at a club in the league above us; and Tony Watt who is a regular starter at an English championship side?

Might aswell ask for Stevie May while we're at it...

10,000 season tickets gives us a larger budget to aim higher. Lennon knows watt and who knows he may want back to Scotland? As for Hemmings, surely Hibs are a bigger draw than Dundee. Not sure of his contract situation and there might be a fee but surely an investment for a striker at 23-24 years old?

I didn't believe last January we would get stokes but we did. Not saying it would be easy to get either but that's the level of ambition id like to be aiming for, IMO of course.

I don't think those targets are realistic tbh but I agree with the general point I think you're trying to make. I'd rather we spent our money on up and coming players rather than older guys who's career is on the downward trajectory.

That said I've got no problem with McDonald signing, a wee bit experience up front could have gone a long way last season and a couple of older heads in the changing room that know how to win a league could be a good thing, as long as we don't turn into some dads army outfit.

I get the rationale for buying younger players with an eye for the future but until we get out of this league we can't plan long term at all. If the players who make the difference are mid thirties on one year deals then I would not care.

Spot on if we keep most of the squad together 2 or 3 experienced players is exactly what we need

I wouldn't be so sure. Still lots of time. It is also usually the case that the best players tend to take longer to nail down , as they weigh up their options. Even just last season shows the value in not jumping in. We didn't sign McGinn until late July and Mcgeoch was the last week in August. They turned out not bad

Anyone else glad NI are out of the euro's? Would much prefer Lennon back home concentrating on building our squad for the coming season seen as tho he has literally just started the job.

Wouldn't mind as much had he been the gaffer for a couple of seasons.

Being in France he can easily get flights to the games. He's been here for training and we know that he doesn't necessarily have to physically chase signings.

Him covering the Euro's will have little impact. In fact you could argue that the profile he gets as being our manager on national TV is a positive for us.

We need the majority of the squad in place and ready for the start of the season, not the end of the transfer window. We've started slow the last two seasons and it's cost us in the league. We have a tough run of fixtures at the start compared to Dundee Utd. Last thing we want is to be playing catch up again. The teams that win leagues usually have their teams settled before things get going.

We have, at least, a decent and well balanced first 11 in place already.

We do need to strengthen up front, and add some depth to the squad if the kids aren't up to it, but I feel pretty confident in what we've got right now.

I dont think/ hope Lenny will have the green tinted cup final specs on with our squad, I expect he already has a number of our fringe players and goalies under the microscope.
The squad the last two years were not convincing and consequently did not get us near qualifying, some strengthening required.

History shows Oxley needs a challenge, our two full backs are probably the best defenders in the league but ineffective wing backs. For the bigger part of the season when they did get a ball past the first man or round the full back we lacked anyone with any prowess in the air. Add a winger or two and a centre thats decent in the air.
We have several decent centre backs but non of them commanding...add a big centre half.
We have several good midfielders but none of them proloific goal scorers, it could be argued we have too much football there. Hence all the debilitating draws.
Lenny likes a bit of strength and height there, we might get an addition to compliment Marv. Cummings has the 'L' plates up and Keetings has not been a 90 minute player, we need an experienced forward that can knit the front line together.
Our former development guys Stanton etc need tro show more strength and application than they did in their ten minute cameos if they are to be kept on. I dont think any of them have developed much on their loan spells, certainly not enough to keep any of our current midfield on the bench.

The squad might not need major surgery but to go up automatically I think we are needing another minimum four players better than those we have.
Its going to be an interesting few weeks watching Lenny develop HIS team to fit his tactics. His assessment of the squad could also be interesting as it will indicate what kind of regime he will have at the club.

Lennon will rightly want to pit his own stamp on things and bring in his own player/ coach Possibly a good way to attract an experienced player that can still do a job but wants to get into coaching

Well if they had got thier finger out with the Cup Final Merchandising we would be a lot richer than we are
Two Cup Finals and playoff games must have earned a fair bit and now heading for over 10 000 season ticket holders and new strips still to be sold a European home tie

Any word of Gunnarsson being signed? I liked what I saw of the big man he had a bit of game. Reckon he would be better suited to a roll sitting in front of the defense. Him n Marv would sweep up everything together. If Hendo has been told he has to find another loan surely there is only one place he will go? Scott McDonald would be a welcome signing, 14 goals for Well last term, he still has a good season in him at least. Shame about El Alagui, I rated him but his knees are gone. Dagnall has never been given a real chance but from anything I have seen he just does not fit in. I would love the Commons rumors to be true but I can't see it.
