Not even remotely close considering Joe had been playing through an injury for the best part of 6 months.

Not to forget the countless hours he's given up to charities and spent with children across Edinburgh in the last 2 years in his spare time in hospitals and their own homes.
I spoke to him at Ron Gordon’s charity day, he goes to see the young hibs lads playing, and often see him at reserve, pre season games, he is a great roll model, and has a great manner with people, I can see why he’s liked by everyone .

He shouldn’t. Neither should Youan though.

Those who are insistent Youan is at it for being out a long time are suspiciously quiet about Joe Newell being out for way, way longer than anticipated.
Did Joe message fans about never playing for the club again and then hardly kick a ball again?

I await him getting the same treatment Youan has had for being injured for longer than expected
Are you inviting an unnecessary pile on here on Joe for absolutely no reason? There are quite a few regulars on here happy to find an excuse to have a pop at him, but this would be stretching it even for them. Think most acknowledge what a good pro and ambassador he is for the club.

Hopefully he is back available soon as we'll need as many good players as we can in the squad this year.

Did joe go about the training centre telling anyone who wanted to listen thst he couldn’t wait to get out the club ?

Did Joe clear out his locker after the final game away at Livi , not turning up at the match then not bothering to turn up to the poty award ?

Comparing the behaviour of Youan and Newell is laughable.

Is this the same Joe that a couple of dozen seagulls spent a season repeatedly telling us that he was part of a midfield that got three managers sacked?

He's always been a fine player. But it takes more than one to carry a team that is poorly managed.

How many hours of charity work has Youan done? And how many is it you need to do before you’re allowed to take longer to recover from an injury than expected?

No, I’m pointing out the double standards when Youan is injured and is apparently at it because he’s taken longer to come back.

Both players should be treated the same way as Newell is being treated. Instead one gets nothing but abuse for having the brass neck to have an injury that’s taken longer to heal.

Was it not you that was moaning about Joe Newell having a few beers during an international break?

Did Youan get caught drink driving whilst employed by the club?

Trying to justify the treatment of Youan is what’s laughable. The two of them have both suffered disappointing injuries. Neither player deserves abuse for that. Newell is being treated correctly by the fans, Youan is being treated appallingly. The abuse he’s had since signing for Hibs from some so called Hibs fans has been utterly shameful.

FWIW Youan definitely was telling folk up at East Mains that he’d never play for us again.

This was summer 24, but of course his attitude issues pre-date this. Arguing with fans online etc.

I’m not the biggest fan of Newell by any stretch, but their attitude / work ethic are night and day. Not really sure how anyone can dispute that 😂

Given he was being racially abused I’d suggest he was perfectly entitled to have a pop back.

His treatment from certain quarters of Hibs fans has been shameful. That has now extended to him being constantly abused for the last 6 months for being injured. Joe Newell has been injured for a similar period of time, and also for longer than expected and has the same folk wishing him well (as they should be).

Idiots in our fan base have driven a very talented player out the club.

Is he away? Brilliant. Let’s get someone in who actually wants to play for the jersey, and will contribute.

Very talented is pushing it, by the way.

Ok. They will end up driving him out will be more accurate.

Aye you’re right. He’s not talented. And he’s never contributed. Doubles at Tynie, doubles against Celtic, other goals against Celtic, goals and asissts in huge European wins. Definitely not a contributor.

I’m in no way surprised you’ve deliberately ignored the points about him being racially abused and abused whilst being injured whilst yet again having a dig at him.

As I said previously, the difference in reaction to Joe Newell being injured and Youan being injured is intriguing. You almost have to wonder if there’s more to the hatred being spewed towards Youan.

If it’s not his attitude, or perceived attitude, what is it then?
The guy has been flying in a specialist from abroad from his own pocket to try and get to the bottom of his injury. We had people claiming he’d be fit the minute the transfer window closed who knew he was claiming to be injured when he wasn’t, yet funnily enough that never materialised, because, funnily enough, he’s simply injured. Yet the pish that’s been spouted about him persists in following him around because some posters won’t let it go despite the fact they were wildly wrong with the previous claim about his return after the window. A case of not backing down, but doubling down.

There is no attitude problem. David Gray has told us that. The guy had a pop back at fans that are supposed to support him who were abusing him and in some cases racially abusing him and quite incredibly some people are still insistent it’s him that’s the issue because of it.

Well said. When he goes we will loose one of our best players in the current squad.

But ironic that you’re talking about people not backing down or doubling down.

People see it differently, that’s it. The pish wouldn’t be getting a mention on a thread about a different player if you hadn’t brought it up.

    Why’s it ironic?

I’ve backed Youan, so has our manager who will know better than any of us what his attitude is like. I haven’t watched one of my claims about him not come to fruition yet continued on with my crusade as if it did.

It’s not seeing things differently. If it was purely about his ability then that’s absolutely fair. It’s a character assassination which is debunked at every turn, whether that’s because the fabrications about him faking injuries are proven incorrect, or the attitude problem he has is debunked by our manager. It’s a witch hunt, one which is funnily enough avoided by other players in our squad who are going through roughly the same issues as Youan is.

How many times has Newell attempted to fight his own fans and message folk on social media telling them he won't be here for much longer and that he can't wait to leave?

If Elie Youan had applied himself like Joe Newell has over the years that he's been at the club, the injury wouldn't be a problem.

Aye, Youan has been flying over a specialist from abroad from his own pocket to help get to the bottom of his injury, which doesn’t exist, because he wants to show the fans who he hates that he’s trying to get fit rather than just sit on his arse.

    Gotcha.

So how many hours of charity work was it you said Youan has done? What’s that? You’ve no idea but you’ll have a dig at him for it anyway? Kind of proves the point I’m making really.

I take it you'll be delighted when he leaves? Be careful what you wish for as an on fire Youan could be the difference between group stage European football and the financial rewards that come with it

I suspect your interpretation of what someone else told you may not quite be accurately portraying the situation.

    Youan wanted away, so what?

Racist and general unpleasant abuse can provoke a reaction from a player. Unwise of him to engage with it, but he's learned.

Work ethics, I'll believe David Gray over some random repeating third hand nonsense on Hibs Net

Virtually the whole squad were out in mid December - nobody was bothered. Then half the team were out in town after the March derby, including SDG and Liam Craig.

You decided to have a go at Joe Newell during an international break. Some people just have irrational vendettas against certain players.
