Injured obviously but would be in my starting 11 everytime when fit - was brilliant to see him on the pitch at the end with the team - cheers Joe 🍻

Why be negative about the guys on the pitch?

Don't fix it unless it's broken, no chance any one should just be coming straight back into the team at present. Same goes for Youan.

Keep players like him around. Popular guy who has bought into us and knows what it means. Can’t ask for much more.

That only leaves Campbell in midfield and although I still have my doubts about him, Newell is a totally different player and we need someone with attacking threat.
Joe will get his chance again but we've been playing brilliantly without him so no need to change that.

I don't want to be negative after a cracking result, I just think he's great at some things but struggles with key areas like passing.Last edited by neil7908; 04-03-2025 at 12:44 AM.

Glad he's coming back to fitness and good scenes with him in the changing room at the end with the lads but why on earth would he be going straight back into this team? This run has been achieved without Newell for the most part and to just stick him straight back into the starting 11 would be disrespectful to the lads who have come in in his place. Campbell and NMW etc.
Hes going to have to wait his turn to get back into the team IMO

Loved when he was going into the changing room and said “Up the Hibs, you know the rest” in reference to his famous “Up the Hibs, **** them Jambo *******s” video. Will be good to have him back, although NMW and Levitt have both been better than I expected, NMW especially.

He would keep going until his legs have fallen off

I’m looking forward to seeing JN back in the side but only expecting him to play for the last 20 minutes or so of a game to start off with so we can ease him back into match fitness. Of course, if SDG decides he should be a starter then that’s the end of the story as he’s the best judge but in general terms, if it ain’t broke, best not to meddle with it.

It’s going to be tough for Joe to get his place back in the team, or any player who drops out through injury or suspension for that matter. Just look at Jordan Obita.

I was surprised to read he's not expecting to start back training until August. Clearly been a signicant injury to recover from.

I await him getting the same treatment Youan has had for being injured for longer than expected

The manager speaks very highly of Joe, he will be an asset once he's back fit.
He will definitely need to fight for his place again though. The team's form while he's been out can't be ignored.

Those who are insistent Youan is at it for being out a long time are suspiciously quiet about Joe Newell being out for way, way longer than anticipated.

Not to forget the countless hours he's given up to charities and spent with children across Edinburgh in the last 2 years in his spare time in hospitals and their own homes.
