I've been going there ( the one with outdoor seating) since it started serving food, must be 20 years or more. It's basic, still cheap and hits the spot. Was in a week or so ago. It too is downsizing on the portions, they have introduced much smaller plates recently. At least your not paying through the nose for it though.
Black Rabbit, Seeds for the soul and a number more have popped up but none would tick your box of cheap or plentiful. I like most, eat more in the house or save up and go abroad when i can, rather than eating out regularly here nowadays. It's as you say tiny and ridiculously priced most places. Paying 15 bar for tacos or a burger I could do better myself with a £7 pint to wash it down
