Five years ago today we won 3-1 against Hearts in the Scottish Cup replay:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38977353
Everything about this game (bar the scruffy penalty rebound from Goncalves) was dream like. Played them off the park that night, still get chills remembering the roar when we scored our 3rd goal.
Being cup holders, putting them out the cup for the 2nd year running, Jason's Cup lifting celebration, Holt's roly-poly celebration, taunting the laptop manager Cathro, sending their season into a nosedive, the catalyst to allow us to finally storm away with the Championship.... just an all round memorable game for many reasons!

A couple of days ago you asked about Doug Moran winning Cup Final while 'on loan ' from Hibs. Pretty sure it was Falkirk but also pretty sure he wasn't on loan, don't think such transfers existed then. IIRC Doug also won the English league with Ipswich.

An interesting article in which he says he did not officially join Falkirk until the summer - must have been some sort of gentleman’s agreement at that time
You are correct he won the Old First Division top tier with Ipswich Town 1961-62
Inducted into their Hall Of Fame 2011

That 79 cup game was my first Derby match and is etched into my memory. As a 10 year old who was already Hibs daft it totally sealed that I would have the life long misery of undying love for Hibs. Have asked this before but is there any footage if the game, would love to see it again

The match was played in a volatile hostile atmosphere with the yams fighting amongst themselves inside their wee pen
My abiding memory is the look of delight on the faces of George Stewart and Gordon Rae after scoring their goals as they were both big Hibees and had a tremendous desire to win that day from the kick off
Unfortunately not been able to find any footage the closest is a Premier League 1-1 draw played about that time 7 days later in fact

What often strikes me reading this thread is that we’ve often had wonderful, hard as nails half back lines (an age thing). Who would want to be taking on Bremner,Stewart,McNamara or Stanton,McNamee,Baxter? Those were the days.
