    Interesting rating system they use.

Also interesting when looking at the ratings of the rest of our squad this season against their scoring system.

    https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/320/Show/Scotland-Hibernian

They have Hanlon as being our best player statistically?
Hanlon with 1 motm where as Newell has 5 motm for example.

I've seen some of the bbc ratings and they're a joke, as are some of the newspapers. It's all about one persons opinion and means nothing at the end of the day.

Exactly. All about points/games saved/won for the team at the end of the day.

Have you read it? Its based on statistical data - the opposite of someones opinion. Based on all the stats he has had an excellent season.

    Usual suspects.

A Hibs player gets picked for a team of the season and the knockers choose to criticise rather than be happy for the player.

Based on stats it is a relevant selection, I take it Siegrist gets the nod over Mcgregor as he makes more saves.

It was the same when Hanlon was called up for Scotland earlier this season. Instead of acknowledging that he’d been called up for his good performances, we actually had Hibs fans saying that the fact he didn’t play meant Clarke doesn’t rate him.

Some people won’t change their mind, regardless of what’s actually happening.

I'm delighted for the boy don't get me wrong, I'd love to see big Daz's stats in the few games he's played for us. To me stats mean diddly squat.

Why would you love to see Daz’s stats if “stats mean diddly squat”?

The stats are available if you want them. To compare Daz and Hanlon.

Daz has been outstanding, way better than Hanlon imo, at 6.99 I think I'd be correct in saying stats mean diddly squat.

They mean so little that every club in the world uses them extensively.

Daz's stats are shown in the same report .... https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/320/...land-Hibernian

On the head to head Hanlon wins on every stat listed.

NB - agree that stats don't tell the full story. I would give Boyle my personal player of the season so far - squeezing home in front of Newell and Hanlon in that order - but he only comes in 10th according to their analysis.

Yep. McGregor clearly a great keeper but only makes 2 or 3 saves most games.

There's a Football Writers Player of the Year which I think was the original and has been obviously running the longest. I think they do a team as well

There is the Players Team of the Year, where players cast votes for team, player and young player. Can't vote for players of their own club.

    Not sure about SPFL.

For a team of the year I think the only Hibs player I would have in it would be Martin Boyle, Nisbet and Doig have done really well but they are up against it with Old Firm players in their positions that have done better.

Without googling we have had a few over the last 20 years. At a guess O'Connor, Riordan, Fletcher, Brown, Thomson, Griffiths, Stokes, McGinn, McGeouch.

I dont think anyone is having a pop at Hanlon on this thread.

I did mention that Christie is in the team which according to the stats they use he should be. My eyes have told me who has looked very poor this season 😃

Really like Siegrist. Would my complain if he was Rocky’s replacement.

You thought he had 40+ tackles against QOS the other night so forgive me if I don't take stats too seriously, I think I've seen stats for games challenged on here before. Who makes them is all down to interpretation
