Hibs are in a difficult situation here and IMO have got it right.

Over 10,000 people have paid a lot of money that they will not get full value for. Hibs have got to do their best to ensure they get something in return and cannot risk those people being locked out while someone who has chucked in £20 manages to get access ahead of them.

In an ideal world they would be able to sell this to a much wider audience, but need to get the basics right first.

Looking for some basic advice on how best to watch the game on Saturday. Ideally I want to watch it on tv. I have an android phone, IPad, laptop and smart TV. My 10 year old probably has better IT skills than me so keep it simple folks. Thanks in advance!:)
I’m no computer geek but have been watching Hibs TV since before it’s inception 😁
My setup is laptop hard wired to the router. HDMI from laptop to TV.
Laptop has emails closed down and all updates turned off so nothing takes up any memory / processor than the bare minimum.

Well that is really not helpful, and is the type of answer that is regularly provided by Hibs. If they want to lose out on mine, and others money because they can’t provide a service when charging a premium rate, then so be it. After 10+ years I would’ve thought they might’ve investigated whatever this “elsewhere” problem is that only affects their site.
Believe me, I'd help if I could but I'm not an expert.

I've posted this before, but I remember once (last year) having real problems with my stream. Normally I watch either on my laptop or on my tv via chromecast from either my laptop or my mobile (all wi-fi from my internet/tv box). On this instance, nothing was working.

I tried on my pc which is hard wired but this was only slightly better, even though youtube & other streaming sites were working fine.

I switched off the wi-fi on my phone and tried on 4G (normally crap reception in my house) and the stream was working fine. I plugged my phone into my laptop to use as a point of access/modem and watched the rest of the match no problem.

That's one example where I had a problem but both my broadband & Hibs TV's output were working fine. The problem was obviously elsewhere - possibly throttling by my ISP?

Some that will be on holiday.

I think you’re now arguing against your own statement though. As was clarified in the email, if you bought a season ticket and you are not in the country then you can’t watch.

You said all season ticket holders can watch regardless of where they are.
I imagine that the number of people who have gone abroad on holiday will be minute, and stupid.

Let me ask you what was the situation with season ticket holders in previous seasons when they went abroad on holiday in October? Were they given access to Hibs TV whilst they were abroad? If not why should they expect to get it this season?

No they weren't but there was a suggestion from the club last week that season ticket holders could use their log ins to watch games whilst on holiday outwith the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Considering the amount of general confusion there's been surrounding the other FAQs last night, clarifying your earlier post was worthwhile.

ST holders have never had “free” access to Hibs TV in previous seasons. Its always been an add-on so incomparable.

Website now live... none of our credentials working yet though so don’t think everything has been switched on yet.

Hang on, are you saying that season ticket holders will be able to watch the games even if they are abroad on holiday? That's a good idea.

    Further to this...

Everyone else ok = the content provider is fine

You ok 99.9% of the time = you almost certainly fine

Most probable issue is going to be somewhere in the network, this could be locally in UK (but see point 1 above), or at the recieving end, again see point 1 but to a lesser degree, or it could be on the interconnect to the local distro company, after that it gets more complicated if there's more than one supplier, in the UK for example some companies piggyback on another's supply 'pipe ' then split out again at either regional or even exchange level. Every point of that will be subjected to a bandwidth challenge dependent on the commercial agreements made.

None of that above, the info provider (Hibs TV in our case) has any control over or even the ability to diagnose any issues reported to them unfortunately the end user with the problem needs to contact their own network provider who can check their bit and in turn raise with their provider and so on.... for what it's worth, when I used to be involved in this stuff the most common issue was bandwidth at the local network hub, either a fault or the local provider hadn't bought enough.

Hope that all makes sense and sorry for being a bit long winded!

Buy a ST. The club have said it’s the only way to guarantee you can watch the game. There will always be limited bandwidth for streaming, so imagine it’s like any other sold out game. If you don’t have a ST you aren’t guaranteed to get in. It’s not a normal Hibs v Killie game and people just need to accept that.
Not everyone can afford a ST, I have not worked in 4 months and lived off my wife's PT wages plus the 80% self employed Gov payout, I'm back to work in a couple of weeks and cannot guarantee the same wages ( taxi driver ) some guys working at £4 per hour just now. I cannot justify spending £400 on a ST and had to give up my regular seat in the East due to this virus. I can watch Sky and I'll get the highlights show on BBC but it would've been handy being able to get the odd game on pay per view and the 1st game on saturday would've been a great way to kick off the new Hibs TV. I think we had around 13.5K ST's last season so we're around 2k down.

It’s only the first game you’ll miss then as Hibs ensure it is stable enough for future or make changes to it. Every game from here on in will be shown I have no doubt.

Every sympathy with people in your situation but unfortunately as a business hibs need to prioritise those that have stumped up the cash this year. They aren’t throwing everyone else onto the scrap heap, just saying that you’ll have to wait your turn.

I understand that mate, it was Underscore just saying buy a ST to guarantee it, not everyone at this time can afford to get one was my main point, I get that they want to make sure it's all fine before going fully live, that's not a problem.

Everything's fine, had a really nice time with the wife without killing each other and caught up with loads of TV series.

The Gov money helped and we get another in August but talking to a few of the guys, the taxi trade seems goosed right now, no tourists and very few people out and about spending, only guys who have been working have been owners, guys like me who rent it wasn't worth the effort. I'm now at an age where retirement is near the back of the mind just another 4 years till I get the cheaper ST, all's good just annoyed I've maybe lost a cracking seat in the East on the half way line.

I’m in the same boat as you mate. Been a taxi driver for 33 years and a season ticket holder for as far back as I can remember. I’m gutted that I can’t afford to renew it and even more gutted that I can’t watch it on Saturday.

I'm 30 years now, been an exclusive street cab for past 2 years going out in a couple weeks to test the waters, sounds gruesome out there though.
Not overly fussed about saturday, would've been good but if I'm back working soon, then I'll be working when the games are on anyway.

I feel for ya mate and I'm in exactly the same boat - been an ST holder since 2006 and can't renew just now as I've been made redundant and just cannot justify £400 odd quid when I don't know how long I'm going to be out of work.

I do feel a bit angry that we cannot PPV on Sat but understand the reasons I guess. But there will be 1000s no doubt in same position as ourselves
