Maybe there was some sort of medical issue or signs of an injury which caused hibs to pull out of deal??

Unless I’ve missed something, not seen anything anywhere that we pulled out of the deal. He’s rejected us to sign for Aberdeen. Probably more money and European football.

Where does it say he rejected us? Unless I have missed something?

I take it this thread acts as therapy and all this is out of our system by the time people head to Stirling tomorrow? We don't have 1,000-odd standing in silence or spitting feathers tomorrow about this embarrassment and tragedy and it being the deathknell for all hopes of ambition for us???

It doesn't say. It is the simplest conclusion when a player has two clubs in for him and picks one over the other.

There are a couple of posters scraping around for reasons why hibs might have pulled out of a deal - as if it is impossible to comprehend that a player might actually not choose hibs.

Players don't have the emotional attachment to hibs or Edinburgh that we do. All things considered he picked Aberdeen. It happens.

Hope we have 2-3 high calibre players lined up. I'm pleased with the signings made so far but being honest barring the obvious, Allan, I've heard, and know, very little about the rest. They look to be players with some ability/talent but think it's a pity we haven't seemed to have looked further afield. We have a scouting department...

Both ourselves and Aberdeen had bids accepted for him. Heckingbottom said he held talks with the player and the ball was in his court if he wanted to join - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48969641

24 hours ago, media outlets such as the BBC were claiming that we had won the race to sign him. Now it looks like he has chosen Aberdeen as his preferred destination and will be unveiled as their new signing

That’s it there in a nutshell. Looks as if he has rejected us for the sheep. So be it, we move on

They have a shirt sponsor, something we decided wasn’t needed this season.
Yep, i agree, but that say accounts for about 200k, their turnover is about 6 million more than ours. What are the other commercial deals that we should be securing? What deals do Aberdeen have in place that we should?

Is it not the case they have a group of businessmen handing over cash? I genuinely dont know.

Aberdeen could be out of Europe before he plays a match for them?

We move on. I’m sure we must have alternatives already lined up given our pressing need for a defensive midfielder and the lengthy on off nature of the Ojo deal.

More than likely, but we didn’t

They finish above us because their turnover is 50% higher than ours and they can spend more on players due to that.
They still have a training ground and stadium to pay for though. We are debt free with that in place. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to now feel disappointed if the continue to outbid is for players. Particularly when we feel that it’s ok to turn down opportunities to increase our turnover to support foundations.

Surely the lure of playing European football this year had something to do with it? You’d think that would be front and centre of Aberdeen’s pitch to him
Was thinking the same. Money may play a part but this may have been a draw

Like I say I don’t know what has happened but with the reports saying that he chose us, it sounds like we made an offer that he was happy with, Aberdeen improved their’s and we didn’t bother improving ours.
Aberdeen will have offered more money without doubt. Nobody in their right mind would choose to live in Aberdeen rather than Edinburgh if the money on the table was the same.

I've still no idea how good he is, so not that bothered. What is concerning is that we're short of a defensive midfielder and a striker and competitive games are about to start.

    They could.

But they’ve been regulars in Europe over the last couple of seasons now and look as if they’ve offered more money.

He agreed a deal to join us in May.

We then cough up an extra 125k as him and his agent make a meal of the situation.

He rejects Aberdeen last night, they offer even more money today and he signs.

Doesnt appear to be very loyal and will jump ship whenever the money is.

Id be more disappointed if as a club we chucked all the money at him so he signs, when it doesn’t appear he particularly wants to be here anyway.

We will get another centre mid.
We can sign another centre mid if Aberdeen say it's okay. Pity McInnes didn't fancy Newell.

We could save time asking Aberdeen who they deem not good enough for them, then go for those guys

Only until we have a rich owner though then we'll show those sheepies who is boss.

    Season ticket returned.

    Heckingbottom out

    Lol

Understandable that he has chosen to go for Aberdeen, opportunity of playing European Football and he will be picking up a better wage.

We move on and try to find someone who wants to be part of taking us to that next level. Not going to lose any sleep over Funso Ojo, put that £130,000 towards Omeonga

Very disappointed if he has chose Aberdeen ahead of us. This could have been a quick win for the new owners and been a real statement if we had captured this lad.

Fed up reading about all how we need to concentrate on infrastructure, the academy etc. Not sure if it is just me but I find all this stuff terribly boring?

I wish the main priority for our new owners was to invest in the playing squad for the next few years. Establish us a real force in Scottish football finishing 3rd, 4th possibly even 2nd for the next few years and put together a few decent cup runs and maybe even win a trophy or 2. The crowds would swell, income would go up and then use this to invest in other aspects of the club!

You reckon a Mallan, Omeonga & Allan midfield would work?

Putting that money towards Omeonga doesn’t address our issues in the middle of the park IMO.

Guys he rejected Aberdeen last night. That means Europe, the club etc all that never mattered to him.

An improves offer went in today and he took it.

    Its money.

They have more of it than us.

As heckys said he only wants players who want to be here. Good luck to him but I'm only interested in guys who sign for us. Im sure Hecky has other targets. Most likely be announced without anybody knowing like some of the other signings. Time will tell if is a good player. Not convinced by the dons signings and I think it will be a real battle for third.

I think Aberdeen include things like catering sales whereas we only include the fee paid to Hibs by the catering contractor.

Whatever, I’m pretty sure we are not comparing like with like.

We'll he's made an agreement to join, on a pretense regarding his previous contract, hibs revived the deal, then he renaged on the previous deal for more money elsewhere. It doesn't point to a great deal of honesty or integrity.
Indeed. And throw in his behaviour at his current club for good measure. A questionable sort.
