It looks like the player ended up with two options, he spoke to both clubs and decided the better option for him was Aberdeen.
    These things happen.
The agent could equally have been playing each club’s offers against one another and we just decided he wasn’t worth it.

    That’s the agents job.

We said the deal was dead, it’s then the agents job to find other better deals elsewhere.

Sorry, I thought we had made him an offer.
Didn’t realise Hibs had pulled the plug on the deal, seems contrary to everything that’s been played out though.

Exactly Aberdeen beating us to a player is pretty embarrassing.
It's not embarrassing, it's been happening for years. The focus of the new owner and his people now needs to be preventing that from happening in the future. That must be the priority, not new training facilities.

Aberdeen have shown more ambition, it’s why they finish above us.
If you want quality players you have to pay the money, all the fancy video presentations in the world won’t change that.

When we're signing players from Forest Green and Yeovil I wouldn't knock S****horpe. If a player is good enough it doesn't matter where we get him - and we wanted this one.

Anyway, it isn't our job to lose sleep over it. It's Hecky's
Plenty more fish in the sea. I wouldn't have lost any sleep over our other signings not coming either.

They finish above us because their turnover is 50% higher than ours and they can spend more on players due to that.

Agree with all of this. Settle on what we're prepared to pay & don't be dragged into a budding war.

The sheep have had to pay silly money for a 4th division player. Let's wait for the right player at the right price.
True but we also need to show a bit of ambition too...whatever way u look at this it's a massive own goal by the club

Course. Seems like our deal was still on the table until very recently though and certain reports were saying that we’d been successful. It just feels like there’s been an element of teasing that could have been a bit of a turn off. Fair Fuchs to his agent but I think we probably have a v low tolerance for that sort of caper.

Because they have directors who made a large amount of money in oil that they invest.

    We don't have that.

But everyone knows that, so not sure why it needs covered ad nauseum.

One reason is its not amateur hour in aberdeen's commercial operation.

I think it's a combination of all the reasons folk are stating above.

The bottom line is though until we can compete financially then we won't be pushing for 2nd/3rd on a consistent basis.

I think it’s the S****horpe chairman we wouldn’t have wanted to deal with but Aberdeen making a move will have forced our hand.

Still think the player was totally ****ed over by that club, regardless of who he joins now.

Hibs were interested in signing Ojo when his agent said, due to a clause in his contract, he could be signed on a free. His club then said that was nonsense and Hibs dropped interest.

What commercial deals is it that they have though? Is it not just one or two businessmen donating a load of cash? Im not sure how you compete with that unless you find 2 like minded hibs supporting businessmen?

Like I say I don’t know what has happened but with the reports saying that he chose us, it sounds like we made an offer that he was happy with, Aberdeen improved their’s and we didn’t bother improving ours.

Ambition? the guy was a half decent English League 1 player who has just been relegation to their 4th tier, no one had heard of the guy until it came out, not a soul had even thought about him and now we're greetin over someone we don't even know will be a good player or not. He's oneof many decent midfielders knocking about the leagues, if the recruitment team are doing their jobs, we'll have other players lined up.

These sort of things will happen all the time, the difference is how public it is because of what the agent and S****horpe chairman have been saying.

He was a centre mid for a team that just got relegated to league 2, he may be a very good player but we will have to wait and see. He is also 28 in a couple of months and appeared to not look interested last season after a very impressive debut season

Sean Clare was meant to be the next big thing when hearts signed him....

They have a shirt sponsor, something we decided wasn’t needed this season.

Reported that Ojo is away to with a 2 year deal with Aberdeen.

i was really looking forward to this guy but sometimes there are signs it’s just not meant to be and there has been plenty for this one.
Maybe some jumped the gun too soon about us signing him

We were in for him today so that's not true

Looks like we stumped up a fee and so did Aberdeen

Surely the lure of playing European football this year had something to do with it? You’d think that would be front and centre of Aberdeen’s pitch to him

If Aberdeen offered 3k and European football and Hibs offered 4k where do you think he would sign?

Of course the figures are just for examples.

Maybe there was some sort of medical issue or signs of an injury which caused hibs to pull out of deal??

Come to Finland, get beat 1-0, euro run over, and enjoy living in Aberdeen, a town that smells of haddock & diesel at all times

I take it this thread acts as therapy and all this is out of our system by the time people head to Stirling tomorrow? We don't have 1,000-odd standing in silence or spitting feathers tomorrow about this embarrassment and tragedy and it being the deathknell for all hopes of ambition for us???
