We were all too predictable last season with little pace in the team. We all know Gray and Stevebson are good solid pros but not the best attacking wingbacks in the world. Could be we're looking to play with wide pacy players and stay solid at the back 4-3-3/4-5-1/4-2-3-1, 3 systems that interchange and are very versatile.
It wasn't really the fault of recruitment - two out of our three fastest players spent the better part of the season injured, so instead of a trifecta of Horgan, Agyepong and Boyle terrifying the opposing defence, it was mostly down to just Horgan.

On paper our signings looked very good imo and looked to have a strong squad, only thing I thought we were slightly lacking was energy in centre mid.

But with Horgan, Boyle, Aygepong, Kamberi, MacLaren and Hyndman I thought we would have plenty of energy and attacking options. Mallan also offered a huge goal threat.

Unfortunately near enough all of them were injured at some point of the season.

Hyndman was a huge disappointment as I thought I would be brilliant.

Aygepong looked very good in cameo appearances but with him we knew he had a track record of injuries.

    .............................................Marci ano/Bogdan/Laidlaw............

    Gray/whittikar......McGregor/Efe......Porteous/Hanlon......Stevenson/Nelom

    ..........................Mallan/Slivka.......Milligan/Bartley.....

    Boyle/Aygepong...............Hyndman/Murray..........Horgan/

    .......................................Kamberi/MacLaren/Shaw.......

Looks strong if all fit and playing to there best. Also shows we heavily backed Lennon financially.

I think he's gonna become my fave player as I had same issues when I played.

I could play anywhere - including keeper - and was always sub accordingly.

When I did start I rarely put decent run of performances together and would soon be benched again.

My best spell was as a striker - 7 in 6 games - and then third hernia and playing XI days over.. I do miss it

Not overly fussed if we miss Devitt.

Plays behind the striker and I expect Allan to be there all season, also have Newell, Mallan, Murray and Horgan who can play that role.

Am I right in saying this one came from Alan Nixon?

If so, I wouldn't be in a rush to class it as us having missed out on him. I think he has one of the worst rumour success ratios on the go (particularly when it comes to us)

In fairness, his story was that we were interested in him, not that he was signing for us. We could well have been interested without him actually signing.

Think Nixon said a week or two back we’d dropped out the running.

I asked Hecky at the Hibs Club the night of the Q & A with him and Stockdale (when he told us about the friendlies that had still to be announced) if the Carlisle friendly was part of the deal for Devitt as it had been rumoured prior to that night. He said "we're not interested in Devitt"

Aye true. We could've been interested without even putting an offer in too.

Hibs, Hearts and some Championship teams after Chuks Aneke according to Keith Downie.

Looks a big powerful and slightly awkward player.

Seems capable of playing numerous positions.

I’d imagine with who else is interested we won’t stand much of a chance.

Looks like a few clubs with maybe a bit more money to spend than us looking at him which is unfortunate. Not surprised Hearts are looking at him as he's 6'3. Here is the usual YouTube real

Jeez I never said it was the recruitment's fault, my post said only that we were slow and predictable, yes we had players out injured but Agyepong was a poor signing and we had only Horgan as a proper wide player, Hecky has spotted our weak areas and looks like he may be putting that right.

Looks like he played further forward last season which would explain his 1 in 2 ratio. Will be tough to get him going by the other teams interested.

Transfermarket has him as an attacking midfield player or as a 2nd striker? No idea if that's accurate

Could well be, I was just going by Keith Downie’s description. If he played midfield and scored that many it’s even more impressive.

Pretty sure I read Agyepong had been out injured for a lot of the previous two season, so our recruitment or maybe medical team should have some questions asked of them over his signing.

Like signing for us! He's a great wee player, or at least always seems to be when he plays against us.

Chuks was an absolute classic signing on FM 2012.

This seems like one of those countless occasions where a journo just throws a load of clubs together that would be looking in similar markets just to see what sticks.

I hope it's genuine though, could be a very useful player with something completely different to the rest of our midfield options.
