Is this the agreement that Israel isn't a signatory to? How can you enforce something you don't participate in? Not that this is the enforcement mechanism, of course.

The IAEA said a couple of days ago that Iran isn't developing a nuclear weapon.

I'm sure lots of centrist European governments are not in favour of this. It takes the focus off Ukraine, there's even more economic uncertainty and the risk of more refugees rises.

Even the US intelligence community said recently zero evidence. I get Iran aren’t innocent however if i was them i would be trying to get weapons also with such an extreme Israeli government backed by US and UK. No point having international law violating it then expecting the other counties to come to the table. The hypocrisy is off the scale countries with enormous nuclear arsenals attacking other countries with none and literally bombing them to stop them. There is zero higher moral ground here. Iran will attack from the shadows, cyber attacks etc, they have plenty resources to fund long ongoing attempts at god knows what on US shores. If I were one of the thousands of US military personnel stationed outwith the US (think around 10k are in Bahrain, for example) my arse would be going at a rate of knots right now.

The same could be said of any amount of enriched uranium held by any country. No one has yet provided solid evidence that Iran are building a nuclear weapon, or have a nuclear weapons programme. With the west having been caught lying about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq maybe they are being a bit more cautious about spouting ****.

If John Swinney came out and said the BBC was biased against the SNP and Independence and called out the likes of Glen Campbell or Sarah Smith wanting them sacked what would your reaction be?

You're comparing an elected president to a fringe element of a movement.

For the record it would depend on the context, if Swinney was being as obnoxious and unpleasant as Trump has been then I would want him sacked actually.

If there was some debate to be had over the subject I don't know, it would depend on how I felt about the situation.

It could certainly be argued that, like Trump, she was all talk with very little substance. Hard to think of anything she actually improved. Her 'judge me on this' record when it came to closing the attainment gap in education was especially lamentable.

For the record it would depend on the context, if Swinney was being as obnoxious and unpleasant as Trump has been then I would want him sacked actually.

If there was some debate to be had over the subject I don't know, it would depend on how I felt about the situation.

That's arguable. The Scottish Child Payment has increased from £10 to £26 yet one in four children remains in poverty. That ratio has remained the same since the payment was introduced. Swinney, like Sturgeon before him, bangs on about Scotland being a prosperous country when he rolls out his annual independence rallying call/damp squib, but steadfastly refuses to use the devolved tax powers at his disposal to harness that wealth and sustain the public services which are so financially strapped. They will never shift the child poverty dial by continually increasing state handouts.

Child poverty in Scotland has fallen 12% leaving 21,000 less children in poverty since 2017, child poverty in England and Wales has risen by 15% putting 320,000 more children into poverty since 2017 and that's before the English Government cuts PIP and other benefits which could result in an estimated 50.000 more children going into poverty. Ohh and they're not handouts, that term suggests the people receiving them are some sort of scroungers, is that what you think?

The figures are all over the place, when I googled it I got this.

However, official stats show child poverty rates in Scotland stayed roughly the same during her time as First Minister—about 24% of children lived in poverty, up slightly from 23% when she started. I looked at the Scottish Governments own website, as I said in my previous post it depends entirely on what figures you are talking about. Absolute poverty, relative poverty, poverty with housing costs or poverty without housing costs..?

Whenever I see Starmer, or indeed pretty much any UK politician, harangued over a 'U-turn' (a regular occurrence) it brings home just how much freedom Trump gives himself by never being bound by previous statements. I sometimes wonder whether following suit to a certain extent would actually be a positive thing. I don't mean that Starmer should simply dismiss any or all criticism as 'fake news', but rather than tie himself in knots trying to avoid admitting he's had to back down or compromise, if he simply said, ' Yeh, we didn't get that quite right. I've changed my mind' we might see a more respectful level of discourse.

Not at all. Just pointing out that the sticking plaster approach won't ever spark significant change. Adequate funding for public services is essential if hard-up families are to access the support they need, yet the Scottish government is falling far short here. Sure, public finances are under huge pressure across the UK, but as I said unless Swinney taps into the wealth which most certainly exists in Scotland and uses the devolved tax-raising powers he has at his disposal to fund public services and deliver on his pledges around child poverty (rather than just continually blame Westminster for all Scotland's ills) there won't be any significant improvement.

Spotted a coffee cup with Trump's police mugshot on it behind the reception desk at my local GP surgery today incidentally. There was some sort of 'mug' pun on it that I couldn't fully make out. Would Sturgeon have had a mug shot taken when she got arrested I wonder?
