All is forgiven if Spain win on Sunday.

Wonder if Southgate is brave enough to change the striker for the final?
I like Kane as a player here but he has flattered to deceive a bit this tournament. He doesn't score a goal like that based on what he has shown thus far.
Scandalous refereeing . McCoist sickening. Cmon 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸

I seen this bloke talking to the ref just before the game btw

The ref has the same accountant as Harry Redknapp’s Dog
They have a grit and a resilience about them this England side. OK, they've arguably had an easier draw, they benefited from a pretty outrageous penalty decision tonight, but they deserved their win IMO.
Be interesting to see how they deal with what has been an impressive Spanish side - but there's quality in both teams. I just hope it doesn't become a tactical snorefest.
Dodgy penalty and they score the second 2 minutes after the ref gives them a dodgy free kick when Holland are on the counter.
Absolute joke of a ref.
Spain will easily beat them.it will end in tears 😁
Rodri will ragdoll Rice as per usual and Yamal will destroy a half fit Shaw.
Pretty funny that after Scotland fans loving to hate Spain, drinking ‘Rodri’s tears’ etc. that now we find ourselves desperate to see Spain win the tournament 😂
Not exactly a surprise England reaching the final. It’s a talented team - yes they under performed for a few games but they have some quality players.
Euro 2028 will also have England doing well as they are one of the host countries - plus younger players will have even more experience.
The final will be 50/50 - Spain will have majority possession but England have players who can hurt Spain.
I'm no England fan but I fancied them to win this, got the correct score too at 9/1, so not all bad!
I now have to endure a few days of my English wife remembering she likes football once every 2 years when England are doing well.
Thankfully my daughter who wanted to support mummy in the last final just asked if she can wear the Spain strip she bought on holiday on Sunday. No divided loyalties this time. That's my girl.
Who'd have thought Watkins would be scoring at ER at the start of the season and after 11 long months finishing it with that?
England are the chosen ones, UEFA have ordained it. Destined to be the poorest team ever to win a major international trophy.
Got the rub of the green tonight with the pen but I think the better team won, England improving every game, Spain will do them though.
Does Southgate have the bottle to drop Kane for Watkins?
Anyone able to explain why the defender follows Watkins there and doesn’t let him drift offside?
Serial winner Harry better play 🤣
Spain were great last night, but were a fair bit aided by France being rotten off the ball. Have a wee fear England will be the match of them in that sense, and pretty rare for a team to win every game at a tournament...
Pleased for Southgate. He takes a stack of flack but his record is outstanding. Successive Euro finals is some achievement considering England hadn't been in a final since 66.
No problem with England winning either. I don't have an issue with them the way I do with Hearts. They seem a decent enough bunch and while I'm unlikely to watch the final I'd prefer them to win than Spain as I know how much it would mean to a lot of English friends and relatives.
I thought that the Dutch were absolutely awful - only Gakpo seemed to be their spark.
England haven’t played well or come up against a good team never mind an excellent team (like Spain) yet so it will be interesting to see how they cope with them.
Could be a decent final if England avoid being dull.
The irony here is England might play really well, have no luck and get gubbed.
Holland were so so poor tonight, standing off and not pressing, allowing England freedom of the wide areas and playing narrow, I’m just surprised it was 1-1 for so long. Foden and Saka are class but if you play with lead boots and deep you get what you deserve - England deserved that tonight but were helped by an awful and negative Dutch side.
Bellingham after Zwayer didn't give an obvious penalty to Dortmund against Bayern causing the game to be halted and Zwayer to take a break from football in 2021
"Jude Bellingham made reference to the Zwayer affair, saying: "You give a referee that has match fixed before the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?"
England have best squad - i have no doubt in that. But in common with the top teams a lot of their top stars have looked knackered.
Along with how Var is being used (not the technology in its self) the amount of games the top players are being asked to play is ridiculous and leading to a poorer product. playing for 11 months of 50-65 games for some just leads to what we have seen often in these games.
won't change as money talks... and now with FIFA pushing its world club championship it will get even worse
The World Cup will always be the big one..
Winning the Euros would obviously be massive for England but the World Cup is different level especially outside England.
England men like the women’s team have invested huge amounts of money into the set up so wouldn’t be a total surprise.
Meanwhile Scotland are stuck with Che Adams who wouldn’t even get into England B team.
Scottish football will never fully progress till the SFA changes.
I can’t understand why the UEFA officials, corruptly, awarded that penalty to England, a country which doesn’t want to be a part of Europe. I could have understood it, but not agreed with it, if the shoe was on the other foot and they had awarded one like that to the Netherlands. In my opinion, it is one of the worst VAR decisions I have seen, in its short, controversial, corrupt existence. For some intangible reason, England’s name is already inscribed on the cup.
Yeh, international football doesn't do it for me these days (although I did quite enjoy watching the recent women's Euros and World Cup with my daughter) so I can't claim to have watched the games, but on paper I find it hard to see anything objectionable about the players or manager compared to England sides of yesteryear.
yup good point that only adds to what I think.
I guess the way Pep rotates is one example of how to refresh a team - but he has expressed frustration many times saying players are human and the week in week out 2 games a week - tv scheduling like 12.30 away saturday etc just insane after midweek games that might have been away.
The first game in EPL is 16th August 4 1/2 weeks after Euros final
You and Ian Wright are the only two I've seen saying that. All other commentators are rightly saying it's a joke. The shot is taken kane follows through. As a defender you'd just have to step out the way if someone is shooting just in case they follow through and kick you. Well played Nevil calling it a disgrace
The fact only ian Wright thought it was a penalty out of all the pundits, presenters, commentators and VAR experts must tell you otherwise?
Harry kane kicks him with his follow through.
In addition, after being booked, Bellingham commits 2 foils (one was at least a yellow) and kicks the ball away but nothing happens...
Kane catches the Dutch player with his follow through, not the other way about. If that’s a penalty, alongside defenders having to try and defend with their arms unnaturally behind their back anytime they are in the box what’s the point of being a defender nowadays.
Is quite clearly and obviously not a penalty
Quite how the VAR decided it clearly and obviously was a penalty is baffling to me and pretty much every pundit - it's a clanger
Or big Sam's involved. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f9ea070f06.jpg

Omeonga got away with a very very similar one at Tynie when Souttar got a nick to the ball first - it’s a penalty for me and the Dutch defender didn’t even complain, nor did his captain. His foot hangs nowhere near the ball, I’d always be looking for it if it were me.
Ah yes. Here it is
https://youtu.be/WxNZT-CmwDc?feature=shared
Would say the two challenges are very different, given Kane is getting a shot away and it's him that initiates the contact.
Still I'm not as certain as some seem to be that tonight's wasn't a penalty... I can see why it was given.
Just as some people on here were recovering from election night this happens and the tears have started flowing again lol
Boss let us watch the game if we worked through our breaks, fair play to England, back to back Euros finals and can they win it?
Being born in England, I wouldn't begrudge them the victory on Sunday I do fancy Spain though.
Never a pen!
We’re so bad, the ref is corrupt, worst VAR decision ever. I love this thread 😀🏴
Can’t wait for Sunday when it will either be much the same as above or England were beaten by first decent team they played blah, blah, blah 😂
Well mr Scouse Hibby, I am convinced that you will be a happy man on Sunday as Spain are unfortunate enough to be against the team which has been chosen to win. You’re correct. We will all be spouting your former suggestion, if and when they win, but, in my opinion, there is little likelihood of the latter, as England are being offered the tournament on a plate. ****** knows why, as they are piss poor, but they are. :greengrin
What England have going for them is multiple players that can come up with a moment coupled with a lot of spirit and determination. They’ve come from behind in every knockout game but they’ll need to be a hell of a lot better than that to get past Spain.
Obviously a ridiculous penalty decision but do think England deserved to win. Had the better of it.
Shows their depth being able to bring quality like Watkins on.
I had the correct score so got some money back on it, it shouldn't have been a penalty though, and to those who said the defender never complained, well why in that case did the ref feel the need to explain it to him afterwards, which he clearly did. And it's irrelevant if one sides better than the other that doesn't make it the right decision. How many times have we been the better team in derby games and lost or drawn these games. And just out of curiosity, was that the ref who served a six month ban for match fixing?
Incredible that Spain in the final will be the first "elite" team England have faced so far. It's quite bizarre. If they don't win this it's a monumental opportunity missed.
England actually played well first half after they went behind. I thought they needed to score at that point though as they’ve played well for 20 minutes or so here and there in this tournament then fallen back into their laboured pattern of play. It then becomes a lottery whether they win or not, even though they’ve managed to come good every time so far.
Re the penalty - I think that might be a foul elsewhere on the pitch therefore a penalty in the box. If an attacker hangs a foot like that when a defender is making a clearance and injures him it’s considered to be a bit naughty so can the same not be applied there in the box? I guess the bit that is frustrating is that on one day it goes one way on another day and for another team it’s something different. First instinct for me though was that it was never a penalty.
Spain have been strong so far and I’ve been sort of waiting for them to run out of puff - often the best team in the tournament get edged out by anti-football and penalties at some point. Hopefully they’ve got one last big performance in them.
The finish by Watkins was ridiculous, such a good player. Given the squad they’ve got it’s really about time they do win a major tournament but let’s hope they are still waiting after Sunday.
Yes, he was banned for six months in 2005 for his part in a match fixing scandal when he was found guilty of accepting a bribe in a Bundesliga match.
The German FA tried to cover it up and it only came into the public domain when a German newspaper published a secret file from the German FA several years later.
Quite how he has been allowed to continue refereeing top class games after that is scandalous.
Never said otherwise - my point you missed is that fans are being short changed. Its like saving to see you lifetime favourite band only to find after dozens of tour dates the lead singer has a sore throat and the drummer has lost his zip, and spectacle is downgraded due to fatigue
I'll be happy for them to win on Sunday just so they shut the **** up about football's coming home and that bloody song.
I might be in a minority on here, but I think the two best teams on each side of the draw are in the final. I also think it will be a fascinating game. The fact Spain will attack will suit England and visa versa. The Dutch were more expansive first half and allowed England to play and Mainoo and Foden particulary used that space well. after first hald and half time subs by Koeman they packed the midfield and relied inly on FB's to get forward. England in response went back to pass pass pass across back and midfield with little penetration until the subs (which I reckon were 10 mins late) came on.
Much the better team won. Pen (that was never one in real time and very debatable in freeze frame) aside they hit the post / had ball cleared off the line as well as other clear chances.
right i'm off to wash my mouth out :greengrin
If they win (or probably lose) there will be calls for knighthoods and mbe's. There will be at least a month of fawning going to the obligatory mention every motd.
