One thing I’m optimistic and excited about is our summer recruitment basically on the players we have recruited recently. Apart from a couple they all been pretty good and some have exceeded expectations like Cadden , Triantis , Iredale and Smith . McGrath already signed looks another good one too .

Well yeah, of course but that applies to every player. A few people have suggested McGrath will probably decide to stay at Aberdeen now and the suggestion from these posters very much seems to be that we’ll be helpless about it if he does. That is absolute nonsense.

He’ll be a Hibs player next season. If he’s not then we’ll be getting a bit of cash coming our way.

I think the good thing with Triantis, is that he’s aware he needs to be playing games to play for his country next year

Something he will undoubtedly do with us. Europe until Christmas would undoubtedly have made it an easier decision but let’s hope he’s still keen

I think it will be another loan here though so his options are open next summer

I really think we should just bid for him permanently. Cost around a million I'd imagine and he's as low risk as you are going to get. Let him know that he'll be allowed to move on in a season or two when bids come in and we bank 4 million ISH. Makes it sound easy right !

Could easily be funded by the sale of Vente. Even though some of this will probably be prioritised for a striker

Was about to say! I think some of his best performances have come since he signed the extension. He was brilliant against Dundee united at home.

Think there’s maybe a bit of middle ground between Miller being pish and having the world at his feet. He’s been pretty inconsistent for most of his time here although managed to improve on that latterly. He seems to have found a position on the right of a back three, but there aren’t that many teams out there who play with that. I’m still to be convinced he goes on to have a good career at a much better than level than Hibs. I still think the same of Rocky to an extent as well. Triantis has age on his side and the most of ability of those three. He’s still the one I’d want to keep the most. He’ll be so difficult to replace if we don’t keep him. In an ideal world we just keep the three of them and go from there.

Possibly! You could also argue that the EPL teams need a big playing squad, with many of them choosing to play almost reserve teams in the League Cup. Triantis could be viewed as one to keep and test him out in the cups, whilst they keep their better players fresh for the league.

Yes, sadly with no guarantee of European League football until at least December, I think Rocky, Hoilett and Triantis will move on and Miller, Vente and Youan will be sold to allow for a rebuild by the football department.

Bain being released by Celtic with a year of his contract still left, as they take Aberdeen's reserve goalie for their third choice, I assume needing to replace one Scottish player with another.

Not a huge vote of confidence for Bain, wouldn't be totally against him as a no. 2 here but equally he hasn't played for a while, and maybe too used to not playing to provide the competition that I think would be good for Smith.

Rocky’s contract is up. We cannot offer him daft money imho but I’d like to keep him.

If he plays in the qualifiers hopefully he's a catcher in July

Sallinger is playing for Hartberg at the moment, live on ‘One Football’.

Only saw a bit of it but made a decent save and couple of good passes out from the back. Not saw either goal

Been impressed with the overall standard and style of play in the game though. Both teams trying to pass it along the deck at pace

Henderson was on £5k a week at Hellas Verona in 2019. I don’t think he’ll be out of our reach, particularly given relegation.

I’ve never seen him play so this is purely from looking at his stats but seems like quite an impressive signing. One of the top performing goalkeepers from a league that is stronger than ours.

He said earlier in the season he wants to stay at Empoli.

Whenever he’s interviewed he seems to stress how much he loves it out there. I’d suspect he’ll stay out there and wouldn’t be all that surprised to see him get a move to another Serie A side.

The Sun done an article when he moved from Bari, seemed to be publicly released accounts. Verona had the smallest budget in the league and he was 13th from top of the wage list.

What does goals prevented mean? I’m guessing he’s faced more than 12.5 shots on target this season?

If we are signing this goalie, for good money, there must be a fair chance he’s coming in as number one. I couldn’t see us spending a few hundred grand on someone to sit on the bench.

Agree on Smith. I’d not be terribly upset if he continues with the gloves but, if we think we can improve the position and do something, it would show a pretty ruthless streak and that we’re not prepared to stand still.

Who ever we sign either need to be or considered to be better that the current incumbent otherwise, what is the point?

Think it’s likely to be the same as goals saved above average, which means he’s saved more goals than he was expected to. So he’s overperformed, in a sense.

Think Smith did something similar in the Scottish Premiership

Worth bearing in mind that we managed to bring Gray, McGregor, Ambrose, McGinn, Fyvie, McGeouch, Stokes, Boyle and many more to the club when we were in the Championship.

We finished third and got into Europe. There will still be plenty of players who will be keen to join us, even if our offering is marginally less appealing to some than it might have been had Saturday’s result gone the other way.

He was actually on double that as a gross wage. He's currently on just shy of £30k gross. I don't really envisage a situation where he comes back to Hibs at this point.

:agree: Players aren’t signing 3/4 year contracts on the basis of playing 3 months of group stage football.

Comparing him to our 4th choice striker is a bit silly. Gayle is a lot more prolific when he played.

The type of player we are in for won’t have really changed, IMO. And hardly any of the players we are in for will have the offer of group stage European football from elsewhere either. When McGrath signed for us, it was still more likely Aberdeen would be in Europe than us. He still signed for us though.

The only thing that might have changed is our transfer budget. Had we secured group stage then we could have tried to buy Triantis, for example.

However, if we still manage to qualify for either EL or CL groups, would qualification be achieved before the transfer window slams shut :hmmm:

Not loads in it when looking at there goals per minute ratio. When you add that Ross County create significantly less chances than us think it would pretty much even it up. In no way am I saying he's better than Gayle. However I definitely think he would be a good option. Imagine he will be pretty cheap now as well considering they have been relegated. 100-200k ISH ?
