Absolutely disgraceful coverage, in depth discussion of a Hibs win and lambasting us. Plenty and I mean plenty of teams have played poorly and win games of football. They’ve been an utter disgrace today. Club needs to respond to it.

Nah. That’s putting us lower down the ‘twat’ chain than them. My late father in law, a very wise, practical man, used to always say that when you’re confronted by fools spouting nonsense, don’t challenge them because, in the end, they’ll end up losing face with nowhere to hide. We played crap and won. We have played plenty games this season where we played something ranging between good and okay and got nothing from the game. For 3 points to raise us from 12th to 8th after 17 games is quite mental.

Every game is still critical and we are in a weird position where both European football and relegation are equally as likely. A good January could mean the former.

I have no idea what he said, because I only listen to Sportsound as a last resort, but the bottom line is we won, we didn’t play well, but Ross County were worse and only started to play, for a period, when they were 2-1 down. From club's point of view, this is a huge 3 points from a must-win game. And builds on the better results / performances over the last few games.

Saying that, can't ignore just how bad we were first 45 and how the game could have been beyond us had RC taken more of their chances - or Smith not made some key saves. So, still serious question marks around David Gray and the rest of the season. We can't afford to live on the edge like this.

Spot on. Fortunate we were playing worst team in the league today otherwise we would have been put to the sword a few times over. So many basic mistakes and individual errors. Its not what he said, it's how he said it and the drama he was whipping up no matter we did, he actively encouraged and was encouraged by his fellow presenters to scathe everything about Hibs. His personal vendetta against Youan is bordering on weird and he took numerous swipes at him as usual. Although I agree with him Hibs should have bit the hand off for £2m in the close season, he just doesn't see the bigger picture, Hibs are desperate for the window, with a new recruiter at the helm we just need to get over the line the best we can. So fxckin obvious but not for drama boy.

I watched their second half during the week and he was nothing of the sort.

He was rather disparaging of their performance and while not quite at Hibs level of ‘no identity’ was ripping them for their formation and lack of effort from their wide men.

I don’t always agree with him but at least he says what he thinks he sees. And let’s be honest he’s been down on Hibs for a while and for good reason.

If and when we are actually a half decent football side again we’ll see what he says then. Until then it’s pretty hard to argue with anyone saying we are guff, because in general we are!

The goal totally changed the momentum. Do I think he asked them to do the same again, naw. But nothing really changed for me, not at half time. If you were going to talk about him influencing the game making the subs at 1-1 would probably be a better example IMO.

I think he probably wanted more from the centre half's on the ball. They were much more decisive in the second half, when they allowed Ross County to get tight to Newell and Triantis before finding a pass in the first half.

I think Campbell helped with that as well, Hoilett was probably too static hoping for the ball to come to him.

Conversely, I think that to emerge from a half as bad as the first one today on level terms is the achievement of the season so far.

We’ve slaughtered these players for losing leads and dropping points from good positions. Yes, we rode our luck a bit but the combination of decent goalkeeping and neatly taking the chance that came our way meant that we escaped from a potentially abominable position able to fight another day.

Big 3 points. It was labelled must win and we won. We can argue all day about the negatives from the performance, and there were plenty, but I think there’s a bit of pluck on show there that many of us doubted they had in them.

We deserved the win but we were brutal for a large part of that second half as well. The third goal came completely against the run of play and everyone around us in the stand were waiting on what looked like another inevitable late collapse from us. There was almost no quality on the ball from us in the last ten minutes of the game.

Three players under scrutiny all integral yesterday going by highlights.
Goal no.1 Triantis superb along with youan, Triantis wins ball back clever pass, then jaunts forward and plays a threaded ball thru for the clever hoilett cross in same attack.

Goal no.2 great pen by youan, won by Campbell

Goal no.3 excellent work by youan making a nuisance of himself before laying it on for the midfield juggernaut Josh Campbell.

Wasn’t at game working but based on highlights I’m more than happy with the contribution of the three amigos.

Maybe as a fan base we need to praise as well as we critique.

Not having a go at you Matty though on the point you make about another inevitable collapse and our third goal against the run of play , could it be said we defended well and our third goal was a good counter attacking move though?

No I don't think so. We did defend fairly well in limiting them to chances and throwing bodies at the ball like when Rocky got the deflection to put the ball over the bar. The other side of the aspect of defending where you take care of the ball and keep possession was non existent. It was kick and rush, shell it long stuff. There was no composure. It wasn't a good counter attack no. It was panic merchant stuff launching it anywhere to the extent Gray turned round exasperated with them - though right at that point their player Brown shanked his clearance which we picked up on. Goal came from that error.

That said, you have to credit Youan and Cambell for making the most of the opportunity. Great assist from Ellie and Josh doing what he does best supporting the attack. For all his faults he has the engine to get up and down the pitch and the composure to finish.

Hibs were lucky yesterday. The performance was largely brutal but yesterday's remit was 3 points by hook or by crook and mission accomplished. That deserves credit. Also, as has been covered, we've suffered the flip enough times when performing pretty well but getting no reward.

Just glad to have won really

Triantis does well for goal 1. He does well for putting Myko through at Celtic. He goes on an absolute class mazy v Killie and hits the bar.... however.....
He is playing as our 6, his job is to protect the defence. He's not doing his job. It costs us goals regularly. He doesn't know how to play the position and his positioning is all over the shop. Always getting booked for that reason. He ball watches and loses runners far too frequently. He does do some good things on the ball and these are bonuses but we need that player in the 6 doing the job they are meant to do far far better

I totally agree. He is caught on the ball around our own box far too often, he turns into trouble regularly and he simply isn't good enough for that role.

I didn't realise it was him who setup our 1st sonpsme credit there but his overall play yesterday was absolutely terrible.

Didn’t see the game but it appears the general consensus is that we were dreadful but managed to somehow win?

Points are all that matters at this stage, but it all becomes a bit of a cluster **** when we can’t seem to tie everything together (with the exception of Motherwell). Win when we’re dreadful, lose or draw when we’re decent. Still has a feeling of things being on a total knife edge if that’s what’s going on.

We deserved the win but we were brutal for a large part of that second half as well. The third goal came completely against the run of play and everyone around us in the stand were waiting on what looked like another inevitable late collapse from us. There was almost no quality on the ball from us in the last ten minutes of the game.

We actually defended our box really well, for a change, when they were launching balls in from all angles in the last 10 or 15 minutes.

They had barely been up the park in the second half until we scored although we hadn’t exactly been doing much ourselves. We still suffer for thinking Luke McCowan was the only creative midfield player we could sign in the whole world.

Not having a go at you Matty though on the point you make about another inevitable collapse and our third goal against the run of play , could it be said we defended well and our third goal was a good counter attacking move though?

It wasn't a good counter attacking move, Ross County fluffed their clearance which we hit straight back at the defender, Youan makes it good by using his body to turn the boy, helped by his ridiculous dive to try and win the free kick, and after that it's good play, but it was opportunistic rather than good play imho, albeit you have to give credit to Youan for the assist and to Campbell for the run and finish.

A semi-competent defender deals with that situation though, it wasn't a great pass to Youan to set us on the attack.

I get the point about defending the box well that BHFC makes, but we've done that plenty this season only to see that one time we didn't win the header etc result in a fossil against, for me the amount of pressure we invited and the comically bad lack of quality and composure during that spell was asking for trouble and it was far more luck than design that got the outcome we did.

The things that got me about us yesterday was how bad we were on the ball all over the park, and how we had no composure on the ball and just panicked when under a bit of pressure.

Launching it long back to county, when a decent touch and a pass to a hibs man to releave the pressure is the proper way to play.

At times it was like watching schoolkids play.

I'm not entirely convinced we were THAT dreadful. They certainly had long spells of dominance but so did we, and could and should have scored more than three goals.

We've put in far, far worse performances this season.

It was a scrappy performance with a lot of huff and puff about it. But who cares? County are not the sort of team you play one touch triangles around and expect to get a result. It was always going to be a physical battle and we did what we needed to do to secure the 3 points.

You’d struggle to find a worse performance this season than what we saw in the first half yesterday

I’d take points over performances every week. Problem being we’ve had neither the majority of the season so cannae rely on winning poorly.

First half yesterday was probably just as bad as St Mirren, luckily we didn’t gift County a second and managed to sneak in an equaliser just before half time to flip the game around.

I get what you're saying, but a team can get better at winning poorly. We were relatively poor yesterday but still found a way to score 3 goals. We were nothing special against Motherwell either, but still found a way to put 3 past them. As long as we keep finding a way to score goals while conceding as few as possible, we will be ok.

You should have been in Dingwall last month.Fortunately that night Ross County played as badly as Hibs did.

I was. And I still don’t think we played as bad as we did in the first half yesterday

It wasn’t really how bad we were in the first half that concerned me. It was the total lack of organisation, plan and the fact we just looked totally lost for much of it. I still think we deserved to win the game in the end but we need to be so much better defensively.

He definitely deserves to sit out. Gray will never drop him though so hopefully the suspension rules do it for him

On today's performance I hope it's both.....he looked absolutely running scared in the second half.

Hope he isn’t out the derby and Aberdeen away suits him more than yesterday’s game. He was very good at Motherwell

I agree that we deserved the win overall, but at the same time I don't think I'd have felt that we were robbed if Ross County had equalised in that last period of the game when we effectively gave up on trying to play football in favour of just booting the ball in whatever direction they were facing.

We were better than Ross County over the 90 minutes though, we were pish but they were next level pish despite us doing our best to make them look good in the first half.

We were all over the shop. Ross County were taking two over to take corners and leaving one man on the corner of the box unmarked. Our solution to that, one player trotting over. The individual errors and dreadful passing is one thing, not even being set up properly to defend set pieces is the basics.

Our passing in midfield is so poor. There were times I applauded us launching it long because it did more to relieve the pressure on us than losing it cheaply in our final third.

It was great to win and the team showed good character and defended our box well (also thought Youan got pass marks) but I saw nothing to convince me that this isn’t the worst Hibs team I’ve seen. I just don’t see players in that squad that are capable of doing much more than they’re doing. I’m hoping we’ve got enough about us to pick up enough points here and there to avoid relegation but that’s a pretty depressing ambition. If we finish below that Ross County team it will be criminal. Maybe Bowie coming back and a couple of signings in January will make a difference.

Please prove me wrong Hibs.

I’m not sure how old you are, but there have been plenty worse Hibs teams than this. I also thought your comment about Youan’s performance was straight from the Mikey Stewart playbook. A guy that’s been much maligned on here worked his socks off yesterday, showed passion and was a huge part of our three points. He did much more than earn just “pass marks” imo.

It were a cold day at Easter Road with the start having a min silence for the magical Alex Edwards, only spoiled by some moron from the highland clubs supporters, shouting near the end of it.
The first half was perhaps one of the worst displays from a Hibs team that I can remember and I have seen a great many games.
2nd half a wee bit better, the end result was all that mattered, just hope we can get better, but I aint gonna hold my breath. A huge rebuild needs doing once again, so perhaps we have another 5 year plan that begins 2025.

Aye, I will sit there in the freezing cauld just as long as they stay above the relegation zone. Terrible situation for Hibs to even be in.
Play as bad again and we will not get any points, as that RC team were the worst I have seen this season.

It's hard to keep up with the rules these days but I'd have thought although no.19 that scores was onside, the guy in front of Smith is interfering with play because he's blocking his line of sight. If Smith had a proper view of it he might have got to the ball and tipped it round for a corner instead of it coming back of the post and no.19 heading it in.

It would be a worry if we hadn't played better against better. But we have. So we take the points and march on.

Cancel the angst.

To me that was as offside as you can get, VAR allowed it. I have no idea what the rules are anymore

Seems odd that wasn't deemed offside he is right in the keepers eyeline it looks like. Seems odd that was ignored then long inquests into our two blatant penalties and third goal 🤔 Seems like something not right with that
