Still a bit perplexed by our line up

The German front 3 were always going to drop in to the pockets between defence and midfield so I've no idea why we didn't set up with McGregor and Gilmour holding

McTominay is also more effective playing slightly further forward. We then played a striker that should be running in behind but instead played it long as if Dykes was playing. With that approach shankland should have started

Dalston looked painfully put his depth but tbh most players did. Gunn should have done better with at least one goal. Porto doing porto things too and no doubt the media and a certain club supporters will try to destroy him. He's played well for Scotland and we were never getting anything out that game judging by what went before. Not in the business of panning our own players or manager so I won't go too hard but extremely disappointing

We done so well to qualify. It hope that effort wasn't wasted

So frustrating

Just don’t lose on Wednesday now. After last night I’d snap you’re hand of to get to the last game knowing a win gets us through.

I think we need to win on Wednesday
Hopefully picks a more forward thinking team and less of this 352

Seriously gtf with this ****. born in England when his dad played for Norwich.

And Porto made the tackle not the media.

So much crap on social, media, this is up there.

I think Gunn has a stack of caps for England all the way from youth level to U21 level? Presumably he was able to switch, although I didn't know you could do that if you'd previously played in competitive games at international level.

Even so, I hate it when this gets brought up in relation to Scotland players. Once they've committed to playing for us, they're capped and there is no going back, they should be treated the same as any other Scotland player. It really bugs me when this is where folk go in situations like this.

Comments on the standard of his goalkeeping? Absolutely fair game, especially at times like this when it's the aftermath of a game where it would be fair to say - he could have done a lot better.

Agree with this. He was one of many who were very poor last night. Let’s talk about that and nothing else.

I've mentioned it on here before but Hungry are a decent side and fully expect them not only to win today but to beat us as well. Their gonna have some support too.

You look at their team today and there aren’t many who are playing at real top clubs. They’ve even got a player playing in Serie B in Italy. A year ago we looked a really good side ourselves. We’ve went totally off the rails since then. Today will be a good gauge of what we’re up against in the next two.

Bookies had Swiss as overwhelming favourites today. Also Hungary national association didnt even take an allocation of tickets for any of the games so not sure they will have that much support.

I think Hungary is our best chance of a win.

Anyway you slice and dice last night's game the one conclusion you come to is we lack truly top class players, too many journey men.

There was a truly weird moment in The Three Sisters yesterday when Scotland conceded the fifth goal, a number of Hearts fans, wearing Scotland tops, jumped up doing 5-1 signs. Absolute weirdos.

Folk on here are only defending Porto cause he used to play for Hibs. It was a shocker of a tackle

:agree: I wonder how many people would be defending John Souttar if he had made that tackle.

I was very impressed with Germany as I had heard the fans and commentators were not too happy. They have world class players who made our guys look seriously out of condition.

We have not had that standard of player for a long time. It's not surprising we got humped. Germany can go on and win the trophy after this.

With a couple of changes and some re-energising we can still put up a show in this tournament.

He was an idiot, two footed lunge with studs showing is always going to be a red and a penalty, lucky he didn't seriously injured the player.

The Porto fanboys still out to defend all of his brain farts though, weird behaviour.

:agree:

A bad tackle is a bad tackle, it doesn’t matter who he used to play for or does play for, in a Scotland jersey he got himself rightly sent off for a very poor challenge

For all his shortcomings our defence has been dreadful since he left Hibs. Personally I thought he was a very good player on his day and it was heartening that he came through the youth system to become an international footballer and carving out a decent level career in England.

I think he was unfairly branded as dirty while at Hibs and while I didn't see last night's game it seems many are eager to single him out for blame when in fact it sounds like the whole team were abysmal.

I’d probably watch the highlights at the very least before commenting…

I liked Porteous at Hibs, there was a lot more good than bad, decent player at our level. But none of that is really relevant, he had a shocker last night.

I'll check it out. I'm not doubting he put in a rash challenge though. It's more that at 2-0 down against Germany and panic stations every time they came forward judging by reports it doesn't sound like we were in the game even with 11 men. Does Porteous really shoulder the blame for us getting hammered?

Or “the Three Girlfriends” as they call that particular watering hole.

He shoulders a proportion of the blame.

It wasn’t his finest moment.

Arguably the disaster all around him will get him off the hook a bit.

Not for being hammered, he does shoulder the blame for us playing half the match with a man down, and for conceding a needless penalty that saw us go in 3 down at half time rather than 2. We still would have lost, but possibly not by 4 goals

From seeing highlights of all other games now, every team seems in better condition than our lot!

Are we really still having our elite players tanning pints, fish suppers and Irn Bru? Certainly looks that way.

I was listening to Raphael Honigstein saying what we’ve all been saying, that its hard to judge Germany based in how bad we were. ‘We might just have found the worst team in the tournament’ he said
