You have to have extremely fit and athletic players to play 442 to cover the ground needed being a man short in the middle, this formation only really works against weaker sides of playing FM, as you say very few teams play it nowadays, if you want 2 up top go 352.

It's positioning. The way Hearts are able to maintain their shape against us is impeccable. That's why it almost always seems like they're playing with 2 or 3 additional players. Whoever we have on the ball at any given time is almost instantly up against 3-4 Hearts players.

There’s the difference, when we’re raining shots in Hearts players are literally throwing themselves in front of the ball to block it at all costs.
