Better team won
Superior in every department apart from goalkeeper
Better team collectively and individually once they got their passing game going with some quality individual performances and won easily in the end
Wish them all the best for Sunday
Hats off to Ukraine. Who would honestly begrudge them a moment like that?
Just hoping they have enough left in the tank to finish the job against Wales. What a story that would be.

Some of the comments on here about McGinn are a disgrace and shows people have very short term memories.
He wasn't great last night, but that's a one off. Someone on here (can't be bothered going back pages) claiming he puts this display in more often than not for Aston Villa is just a blatant lie. I watch a fair bit of EPL and he's been between good and excellent almost always. Praised regularly by pundits and managers.
Also someone saying forget about his move? Why? Because of one game, compared to regular solid ones? Aye, ok then.
Callum McGregor. Now there's an overrated waste of time, who would be found in the EPL that McGinn performs in.
Gilmour? Garbage. But is on Chelsea's books so must play. Forget he was guff for Norwich.
McTominay - Forgot he was playing at times.
Hanley - Come on now. Going to a World Cup with him playing? No chance.
Dykes and Adams - Bog average couple of players. But Dykes played well once against Celtic for Livingston, so he can live of that.

Your comments about McGinn were pretty accurate but you let yourself down by then going on to slag other players for one performance in the same way people have done with McGinn, in my opinion.

Gilmour has been a stand-out in every other game bar yesterday for Scotland. He outshone the likes of Phil Foden during the Euros!

If you flipped the play offs and CL final around, Scotland played last weekend, won and Robertson had a few drinks on the Sunday before the CL final on the Wednesday do you think Klopp would have shrugged his shoulders and said it was OK?
I'd suggest there is every chance he wouldn't have played. I'm not really interested in him having a beer one way or another. Scotland has so few top class options that we have to indulge that kind of thing though in a way Liverpool or at international level England or France don't.
Fwiw I don't remember too many defending Ferguson and McGreggor when they went on the lash 2 or 3 days before a Scotland game a few years back.
Exactly. He wouldn’t have dreamt of doing it 3 days before the Champions League final because like you said, there’s a good chance he’d have been dropped because of it. The reason he’d have been dropped is that it’s terrible preparation for a huge game and would potentially impact his performance in said huge game.
It shows a complete lack of respect to his role as captain of our national team for him to be doing it imo.

Very similar to the cuffing from Croatia at the Euros. Outclassed on the big occasion by a technically superior side, who were much smarter in every aspect of the game.
We don't have another defender like Tierney but playing two slow lumps in Hanley & Cooper was a mistake. Two up top was also a glaring mistake since we just shelled long balls in the vague direction of Dykes in the first half.
However, any combination of personnel and systems would have failed with so many players falling short of their own standards.
Definitely not the time to change the manager but he needs to find new solutions at the back and in attack.

Souttar, Porteous and Tierney should be his back three going forward.
Up front less easy to fix.

Very difficult to understand that performance.
After such a long campaign racking up plenty of wins to finish second there wasn't much in the way of determination to make sure it wasn't all for nothing, until it was too late. Looked so flat and as the home team created nothing of note to get the crowd up.
I thought I seen us improving in possession and technically on the ball as a team but Ukraine passed the ball around us with ease and fluency. As others have said reminiscent of euros performance in some ways.

I didn't watch last night's game or the Champions League final but Robertson has always struck me as a dedicated professional and the implication he would have been drinking heavily on Sunday seems way off the mark.
Couldn't it just be that the toll of a phenomenally long season with Liverpool finally caught up with him? It must have taken a lot out of him physically and emotionally, especially with Liverpool ultimately losing out on the two trophies they would have wanted most.
As somebody else has also said, there's a big difference playing alongside world-class players at Liverpool and playing alongside a generally lower standard of player with Scotland. You can't expect him to perform one-man miracles.

I'd put a lot of that down to Tierney being out. Our second goal in Austria was the team at its best really, and they work the ball at better angles and speed when he's linking up with Robertson and the midfield.
We looked really basic without that bit of style he brings. He's probably quite important in improving those around him, so can't underestimate that it's an extra challenge for the the bulk of that side if he's not available.

I’m not expecting miracles. I’m not even all that bothered about his performance which I thought was fairly poor.
I just think it was completely unprofessional and disrespectful to the Scotland fans watching him captain the country.
I’m sure he generally is very professional and I’d agree that’s how exactly how he usually comes across. Drinking 3 days before he captains the country with our best chance of World Cup qualification for 24 years is an uncharacteristic lack of professionalism from him though. As PB said though, we’re not really blessed with the players to leave him out because of it so nothing was ever going to be done about it.

Ok..Its a horrible world,isn't it really?
People make decisions on what is more important to them.
I do aknowledge that most Ukranains at the game tonight did not travel from their home Country and this game was an opportunity to show support/solidarity for team and Country.
I notice though, that so many young Ukranain men were on the terracings,.
That surprised me,in the circumstances
Just my view. Not looking for a nark.
We got beat fair and square tonight.
Good luck to the Ukraine team at the weekend.

Good point.
It really isn't. Ukraine have had thousands of volunteers from home and abroad. But they have repeatedly been clear, we don't want anyone without good military experience. They are sending away Europeans and Americans especially at the border who are trying to help, but untrained. Untrained men are zero use and are more of a hindrance.
This isn't WW1, they don't need bigger piles of body bags.
