We had the best of the second half, they had the best of the first, a draw would have still been a decent result. Instinctive from Porteous to flick at the ball but ultimately has cost us a point.
Subs could have been made earlier but Murphy and Allan don’t fit in to a team that is playing a midfield that need harassed closed down.

Bit of a sucker punch but trying to hold out for the draw and not bringing on fresh legs was as much too blame as Porteous' tackle or Hanlon's ***** pass. Up until that point we were solid and kept our shape well throughout. Annoying but we move on to the weekend.

All very well winning a semi final against them but our league record is poor. We defended fairly well and competed in midfield but are still a bit toothless up top, just lack that piece of guile that Allan/ Murphy gives you.

Sad but we needed a Josh Campbell on the bench to come on for Josh Campbell about 10mins earlier.

Why don't you give your negativity a rest

Although I think most people would rightly say that Porteous is an excellent player for Hibs he makes really silly mistakes that almost inevitebly cost us. We didn't deserve to lose this game but the bottom line is that he cost us tonight.

Didn't play badly but I didn't enjoy watching it tbh.
You just know the ref will favour Rangers with a decision in games as tight as that. If that happens at the other end we all know he doesn't give it in Hibs favour.
Another defeat when all is said and done..with hindsight maybe Ross could have been a bit more positive after Rangers made their subs. I felt we gave up trying to attack them after that and were too deep.

In the top division as they said.
Thought we played very well for the most of it just didn't create any clear cut chances and Morelos header aside, we gave them very little. Sickener of a penalty to give away and we just went flat after that and had no chance.
It's clear we have nothing on the bench. Not a game for Allan at all. It was a battle in midfield and not a game for him. The rest I don't see them changing a game. Really missed doidge

That game shows what can happen when we play Boyle upfront - he is either superb or invisible.
Today he was invisible.
All very well winning a semi final against them but our league record is poor. We defended fairly well and competed in midfield but are still a bit toothless up top, just lack that piece of guile that Allan/ Murphy gives you.
Agree, These players are just not part of ‘Mr Dull’s’ game plan sadly.

Porteous was tremendous right up til that moment. He actually didn’t need to rush in so much, McGinn was going to force Kent wide. Porteous had to stay central. As soon as he dives in and hangs the leg out, it’s always going to be a penalty.
Central midfield 3 were excellent IMO. Felt we should have stuck Boyle wide and had Murphy or Allan on up front. Cadden is very limited and wasn’t exactly being troubled defensively. I’d get Boyle wide on Saturday and Doidge back up top

It basically comes down to only having a willingness to put a midfielder on who’ll contribute in the final third, once we’re losing. Been the case in the last three league games.
I thought the second half was similar to last Wednesday in that we were struggling to create anything then you’re asking them to rescue you when it’s too late.

I think tonight showed our lack of depth on the bench. The hun put on arfield for Davies which meant he played further forward and made them more of a threat attacking wise but weaker defensively. It made the game open up and I think JR would have liked to bring on someone to give us fresh legs in midfield or / and up front that would have still kept us solid and allowed us to attack them quickly when we got the ball. I don’t think that we had anyone on the bench that fitted that mould although Magennis or Hallberg would have if fit. The game was in the balance and thats why in my opinion he didn’t change it sooner.

Ross out, please!
No. I think part of our whole problem as a club is being too short termist. Hiring and firing every 18 months-2 years. Zero stability. Who comes in. Then who comes in 18 months down the line when he fails to beat Hearts/win the league/play swashbuckling attacking football. The revolving door that just keeps spinning. What a way to sell the club to a prospective manager.

Not for me floats about and looks good but zero substance, drop Campbell into newell position and allan in behind strikers give yourself a chance to win games.

Made 5 or 6 excellent tackles and set up two of our best chances: the quick run in behind from the thrown in where he took an excellent touch and played it across the box and goldson just got to it before Boyle, and the through ball for nisbet which he should have taken on his left but opted to cut inside and got tackled.
Not sure what game you were watching to say he has zero substance, was our best player on the park tonight imo and was involved heavily both defensively and going forward.

Lack of squad depth
7 subs
4 were signed by Ross
1 of which got 5 minutes

But your 4 games doesn’t suit your agenda ? Ok then.
Let’s hope after the next 8 games the percentages are a bit higher or maybe the Jack Ross lovers will be starting to realise he’s not all that.Well it's current
So we beat motherwell shall we quote points gained back to the start of the losing streak?
Just keep quoting back to then to make it look worse?
What about being top of the league at the start of october
Can't go back that far ofcourse

Played well for most of the Ross C game.
Deary me you are easy pleased.
We could have been ahead, lost a scrappy goal, had a man sent off and then fell to bits a bit toward the end. But aye you pick on that game and ignore the way we played against St Johnstone and the pumping we gave the hun

Exactly this
Its boring as ****
Its usual drama queen behavior in not actually seeing how the game actually went
Fair enough of we just got battered and didn't show up or compete
We lost to a 50/50 penalty call against the current champions
Hardluck, move on and make sure you win the next game

People aren’t just commenting based on one game though. We’re really struggling to score goals and part of that is down to conservative selections IMO.

With 10 minutes to go we were competing very well and 0-0 would have been a good result. It would’ve been daft to change things and “go for it”.
If we’d have lost under those circumstances the same posters would be on here slating Ross for naivety.
A bad decision by Ryan Porteous cost us a hard earned point. We could easily have had all 3.
Was it such a bad decision though?
He was getting kicked up and down the park as ever.
Porto is only 22 and we can't dampen his enthusiasm else he wouldn't be Porto.
We lost, but played good football..

Yet to see a home performance anywhere near as good as our best away games. Lets see what the performance is like this Saturday.

What about managers that walk themselves? We've had a lot of those this century too so that point doesn't really hold up as it literally always is a two year cycle. We are at that point now so next please...

The fact that you're deliberately ignoring or dismissing two results in the last ten days?
Well I’ve not have I? I said one win in 7, that’s taking our win on Saturday account.
I also said I was talking about league form because we’re needing points on the board which is what I said.
I don’t see how calling Saturday a must win and saying we have to be confident on Saturday is negative.

This place is comedy gold. The Ross hating knee jerkers should plant their feet firmly on the ground and seriously look at the big picture. Which Messiah will appear from a puff of smoke to keep them happy and get us challenging for top three. :faf:

We had just pumped them 3 1 I don’t understand why we weren’t brimming with confidence but at home did McGregor even have a decent save to make

in the semi final we had three shots (one was a penalty) and three goals.
tonight we had a couple of efforts on goal and a couple of other decent positions that we didn’t take advantage of.
we defended well in both games.
We had far more possession tonight than we did at Hampden. there was very little in it.

Neither team played well tonight.. At times neither team seemed capable of keeping the ball , i lost count of how often the ball was given away. We definitely have just passed up an excellent chance of beating the huns there.
Spot on. Neither team took very good care of the ball in possession, but I couldn't care less about Rangers and it was very disappointing to see Cadden and Doig often beat themselves. Rangers sat much deeper tonight as they were scared of Boyle running away from them again but Hibs never used the extra room in midfield to build possession with poor ball retention. Rangers were there for the taking and Murphy and Allan should have been given more time to try and win the game. Poor game management from Ross.

Newell was brilliant tonight IMO. Looked after the ball very well and was very good at pressing Rangers and winning the ball back.
Created two of our better chances with his run from the throw in and through ball to Nisbet.
I was disappointed in Doig though, he never seemed in control of the ball and seemed to continuously get it caught under his feet. Bit more composure needed.

Just back home. That was a sore one tonight. They never looked like scoring tonight. Loads of possession but don't really do anything with it. Just knew it would be a pen though. We had much better chances but nothing really fell for us in the final 3rd.

Average age of our team must be low. Hiw many stray passes from K N.

Close game but Macey had 2 or 3 good saves and they scored. McGreggor didn't have a save of note.
I don:t think they could complain had it been a draw. I can't really complain they nicked it.
They also missed a couple of sitters first half.
