With Boyle and Doidge out today, wonder what sort of team we’ll have on the park
Most of the Defence picks itself with Ryan available
Jack has been making noises about James Scott looking sharper, we could do with a big strong player up front, against Saints back line
Todays the day we need to use our squad

St Johnstone have a fair amount of issues upfront.

Kane, Middleton , stevie May and Wotherspoon all out for St Johnstone

Would take a scrappy draw to end the run of defeats , hopefully we can nick it from somewhere

Be surprised if this isn’t how we line up. Maybe Scott will get the nod over Gullan.
Having said that we can’t batter them. Maybe Allan’s guile to open them up.

I’ve liked Campbell when he has played this season but I agree we need someone who can unlock a stubborn defence. So we sacrifice the work rate of Campbell for the Hollywood passing of Allan. Give Allan 60 mins at full pelt from the start.

That would be the team I would play. Let's keep it solid and hopefully nick a goal or two. Allan can come on if we need a goal. Think Campbell deserves to keep his place.

Ah the old Allan is a man down one. His contribution (goals and assists) for the minutes he’s had on the park has been good. Our lack of creativity is much more of a concern than folk being willing to run.

Not for me. He had a terrible subs appearance on Wednesday. Gave the ball away very cheaply every time he was involved, didn't work hard and tried a ridiculous Ronaldo turn that nearly led to a second goal. I'd keep it the same as we had in the semi final but have Scott or Gullan in for Boyle. Saints have far more injury issues than we do so we should go up there confident in getting 3 points

He was sent on when we were chasing the game and we’re all over the shop.

Pretty sure he got MOTM in the game against St Johnstone last time.

That midfield was good against Rangers but I thought the other night showed we need something different in these types of game.

If you look at our team the other night people running wasn’t our issue.

With no Boyle, the same team has next to no threat though.

Also, Allan does actually run about a bit.

The midfield/wing backs created quite a few very good chances. Nisbet and Hanlon missed them. It was a shocking goal to lose but up until that point we were in control of the match. I'll grant you we were chasing the game and that is all the more reason not to give the ball away cheaply. I counted three times he had the ball. Terrible pass, nudged of the ball and failed Ronaldo. No real attempt to charge around trying to get the ball back after his mistakes either. It may of course be different today as we don't have Boyle catching the focus of the opposition's defence and giving us that energy and dynamism. Scottie may well be involved but I wouldn't start him. Jack Ross might have given a clue when he pointed to keeping clean sheets guarantees getting something from games. We might see a pragmatic line up today which given our horrendous league form would be understandable. Ross knows we have to start picking up points or we could be in a bit of bother

Last weekend we were going into the game on the back of four straight defeats, a covid outbreak and no game for over three weeks.

Fingers crossed that Hibs can somehow surprise us today in much the same way as they did last Sunday.

TBH, a 1-0 win from a dodgy penalty in the 90th minute would be enough for me

Given Newell and JDH have been pretty good the last two games I'd be amazed if Gogic starts. I get why some would want Allan in and he may well start but I get the feeling Ross will be very pragmatic, stick with the team as much as he can that started the last two games and try and build from there. Getting someone up alongside Nisbet is important imo. Campbell has done well and is one of the reasons we have looked better as we are pressing much higher and more frequently. He deserves his place today. I hope Allan isn't shoehorned in and we end up with Nisbet isolated up top. He looks so much better when he has his mates nearby and has shown he creates chances when he has support

I'm not an Allan fan but it is unfair to judge him on Wednesday night.
He is a luxury in an 11 so when we went down to 10 it wasn't the game for him.
The team totally went to pieces after the sending off.
I disregarded all the post Doidge part of the match.
Up until then our issue was only how to score.
We have lost Boyle from that team and gained Porteous.

Someone like Scott needs to arrive today.
He is a big guy and has ability.
Some testicular fortitude required from him.

It's a pitch Wright has played on many times in his career so he might be worth a run out.

We need 3 points today, draws are not worth a sook.

………..………Macey………..

……McGinn…Porteous…Hanlon….

Cadden…..JDH……..Newell……Doig…..

………………..Campbell……

…………Nisbet……….Gullan……

Majority of the team that played against Rangers with the obvious exception of Boyle.

Porteous back in makes a massive difference in terms of defending and going forward and playing out from the back.

Although we lost on Wednesday we need to remember that for the most part we played well and created a lot of chances whilst we conceded a really poor/lucky goal. In that game we never done much wrong at all.

Campbell had been good in both game IMO and deserves to keep his place, he certainly doesn’t deserve to lose it to Allan.

Murphy back from injury could mean we change shape as Ross likes getting him in the team.

Throw up is between who partners Nisbet, going by Ross’ comments and recent subs you’d imagine it would be Gullan. Funnily enough I wouldn’t mind Wright starting up top next to him as IMO one of his best games was last season when he played up front - movement is one of his best attributes for me.

Dropping Nisbet now would be mad. He looks like he is coming into a bit of form to me. Scored a great goal at Ibrox, set up a goal in the semi and produced some good link play and got into great positions against the Staggies. He isn't a one man up top player but we only have Doidge for that and that isn't an option for the next two games. Get someone within 15 yards or so of Kev and he will do well for us.

He's here!

I just think because we have played them so often that trying something different might be the answer, if it is not working we have him to bring on. We are missing his goals this season. Think Scott and him are too similar to play together.
Nisbet will probably score a hat trick today.

If there was ever a player needing a goal it’s Nisbet, would great for him and Hibs to stop the rot. It will be a scrap today, I wonder if Ross might put Gogic in the midfield to do the dirty work with Allan and one of JDH/Newall/Campbell doing the box to box role.

Is Porteous fit?

I don’t fancy the drive up for obvious reasons but £17.50 to watch it in the house is taking the p!ss.

I gave Ross County £15 at a push,

Very expensive month coming up, incl £40 for cup final tickets. Sadly I feel them at the top just don’t understand, or just don’t care, for the typical fan like myself.

Obviously I would rather have Boyle, I'm not saying that I wouldn't. But (in my beer induced mind) not having him may help us today.
St J (and many other teams) kick Boyle all over the shop and 2/3 men on him in games like this and pretty much mark him out of it and frustrate us. Not having in the the team means they will take a different approach which COULD work in our favour.

1 player returned already and the other can’t get near the team.

Utter disgrace.

Folk on here said it was a good window as well 🙄🙄Cant remember many on here saying it was a good window, other than Tait and Mueller both coming in January I would suggest it was a shocker and I think many on here would agree with that

Ps - JDH seems a decent addition

Biggest half time team talk of Jack Ross’s career.

Yes. He needs something against ten men second half. Perfect chance to turn this around.
