Nothing about mystic meg and based entirely on our two previous Hampden capitulations. The last one especially. More than happy for the team and JR to prove me wrong.
They have done all season, and i don't think you are.

Come on now. Don’t speak sense unless it’s all positive.
if you EVER posted anything as measured and sensible as that we would be calling the police to find out who hacked your account. You don’t post measured questions about how our game management could be improved..you just troll on and on about “Bottle Jobs”. You don’t just look at life as if your pints half full..you also are convinced someone’s spat in it, you were given the wrong change when you bought it and the brewers are using the wrong yeast in the recipe and have let poor little you down like they always do.

We’ve dropped points or not won something like 3 times all season when leading. It’s hardly been an ongoing problem worth getting worked up about, as some were doing during the game. We’ve been very good this season as seeing out leads and winning tight games.
I still think it's a valid discussion as and when it raises it's head. I'm not going to get all worked up about it like some are but I don't think to can be totally dismissed either.
Our last 2 games should have seen us have the cigars out with 20 minutes to go and we ended up hanging on in one and going to penalties in the other. I accept no one is going to worry about a game that we won on Wednesday but the argument has been used above, with some justification, that we 'almost done the same to Rangers'. A good result doesn't always negate every other point that could be raised.

First 70 minutes a very comfortable and solid showing, last 20 seemed to sit deeper. Topsy turvy tie after the equaliser but fair play to the lads, that takes bottle and character and to win the game on penalties after being brought back to 2-2..........the very opposite of the Hibs'd it tag.........really good win, the players and management deserve a large drink tonight :aok: Superb :agree:

That is a worthy discussion on a day like today though. We got through today but on another day a collapse like that will costs us.
I'm full of praise for the attitude of the players and the changes the manager made in ET but I'm 100% certain the coaching team as a whole will be looking at our failure to see that out in the manner we should have. It was poor game management albeit we rescued ourselves from the situation.
Yup, I don’t see why it’s not a point worthy of discussion tbh.
As fans we could see what was coming a mile away yet we didn’t change it. Not sure why folk feel like it should just be swept under the carpet and totally ignored.

That just means bookings received up until the semis are wiped and means that the only way a player misses the final is by being sent off in the semi.
Gogic and Boyle will be out for the semi.

As far as I’m aware, Boyle and Gogic will be suspended for the semi

I’m hoping that’s who he meant. Porto miles clear of anyone else tonight. His passing, his tackling, his heading, everything was on point, can even hit penalties. Gogic done well, distribution was iffy at times giving easy ball away, thought McGinn settled better after punting 2/3 into touch early on.
You moan when we lose (we dont lose very often) and you moan when we win, as i said, you are frightened to death, i've no idea why you support Hibs.

Agreed, made the Campbell point in the thread about Beaton, just because he failed doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be booked. I’ve also said the same about ‘professional fouls’ in the past, especially trips which can do some damage depending how a player falls.

I really hope we get an opportunity to play Rangers, either in the semi or the final.
Would really bug me if we did not perform and lost to an inferior team again at Hampden. If you look back at the last 50 years our record against Rangers at Hampden is excellent. Know history is not a measure of what happens now but I always feel fairly confident playing Rangers at Hampden.
Well done Hibs tonight to get through after really only being out of control of the game for around 15-20 minutes.
By the way.....that lot are spewing over on JKB. Why on earth do they still mention Hibs'ed it......they seem to have short memories and forget 2016.

For me those types of fouls should be red cards. You can't mistime a tackle and it becomes a rugby tackle. Hibs breaking very dangerously both times and with the second one we may well have engineered a good chance. Shocking that Gogic misses the semi because of it as he wasn't the aggressor in the first place and it could be argued he was making an attempt to defend himself.

Maybe because Hallberg didn't walk away he will now play in the semi final and have a stormer, forcing ross to then play him in the final where he will score a hatrick in a 3-2 win against the rangers, with that motm performance being so impressive that he will get called straight into the swedish national team for the euros, going on to play every game and being a key player in sweden winning the competition, resulting in a summer transfer to psg for £250M.

Can that be put on the coaches. Second goal is a horror show looping cross free header pretty basic defending I think.

I presume you mean if we win the cup and finish 3rd?
If we went out in the semi and finish 3rd I’d suggest he’s not even in the equation yet.We could finsh 3rd, win the cup and be in Europe after Christmas
That's dreamland stuff for Hibs

Left to Boyle. Should never ever get that far. Coaching staff know that.

Started with Boyle attempting a silly flick to Newell on the edge of our box instead of running it to the corner. The rest is a mess.

Tony Watt given man of the match by bbc, is that true?
Surely not MOTM!!
It’s true, him coming on somehow galvanised Motherwell and they started to ‘play’ from that point on. They almost got away with it.

I said it earlier but that took balls.
We could have folded and been papped out the cup from 2-0 up with 10 minutes ago (has that ever happened before?). We weren't though, we dug in, rolled the sleeves up and done the job.
Credit to Ross too. The subs were arguably late but they made a difference. As soon as they were made we got back on the front foot and created chances again.
There's plenty scope for discussion but we needed bottle there and we showed it in abundance.
I think this is spot on.
Hibs deserve credit for a performance that was good for the vast majority of the match and when push came to shove we got the job done and went through. It took spirit and bottle from the players and management and the subs all played a part.
It's right to do the full post-mortem though and I don't think it's being daft to make the point that we came very close to blowing it. A lot of good play, a lot of things that we'd done right up to a point very nearly went to waste.
Tonight is a good night but we need to learn some lessons if we're to step up a level and actually come good on the potential we undoubtedly have.
We've played 2 big games in just a few days - both games we started well and played well in for long spells but both games we came close to chucking away.
Credit to those who got the result today though, and in cup competitions all that matters is that you get into the next round.

Gogic didn’t need to get involved, he made that decision himself
He did nothing different to what 6 or 7 players did. Why were they not yellowed Beaton looking to do him out the semi imo.

Although obviously he was fresh I thought Hallberg made a huge difference and should feature more often for the remaining games. Wright was disappointing and doesn't look like a player.

both games we played great and when it was the turn of the defence to play their part they let us down. Reasons for that I’m not sure...

Just in from watching the game in the local Irish pub. We don’t do it the easy way do we, but had a good crowd watching it 👍 it’s in the bag 🇳🇬👍

Ref had his back turned too. Gogic happens to bump into the ref that probably done it for him.

Do you have Irish pubs in Norway? How much for a Guinness? It must be a fortune.

:agree:
I want Wright to do well but for whatever reason it is just no happening for him at Hibs
Hallberg had the perfect scuff for his penalty
No complaints

When you saw his efforts v Joe Newell in the Carabao challenge you're hands should have been over your face when Melker stepped up :greengrin
Really cool penalty, brave to take and step up :aok:
