Glasgow figures significantly higher than elsewhere the last few days
Just a number of months ago we were told it takes 3 weeks for data to catch up. If that’s the case then the numbers have nothing to do with last weekends celebrations.

“What is the incubation period of the coronavirus disease?
The incubation period of COVID-19, which is the time between exposure to the virus and symptom onset, is on average 5-6 days, but can be as long as 14 days.” - W.H.O.

The reason for the three week periods between changes all through Covid is due to the time it takes to take effect. Not just incubation period but for symptoms to show thereafter, to be tested, to get test results back etc. There’s no way that any surge can be attributed to the football within 1 week. The surge was on the Tuesday (two days after the ‘event’) and then died down towards the end of the week.

I’ve literally posted the WHO definition and average time of incubation in my previous post. Average 5-6 days from infection to symptoms showing. Test turnaround is about 24-48 so another 2 days. Therefore, even allowing for delays any increases in infection occurring on Saturday 6th March would be expected to start showing in the stats around about now.
Just re-read your post, I think you may be confused when the Rangers v St Mirren match took place.

I’m not confused, the data that’s being shown now is for week ending March 12th, less than a week after the football. Diving deeper into the data and during this week the spike was on the Tuesday, 2 days after Celtic Dundee United, and 3 days after Rangers St Mirren. The end of that week then reverted back to previous levels.
Incubation periods of 5/6 days average and 2 days test turnaround yet relating a surge in 7 day cases to an event that took place 2/3 days before. Plausible.
The fact sturgeon is calling them out about lying to track and trace confirms to me that there’s no proof any of those who have tested positive were in or around Ibrox or George Square.
The opposite should be happening!

Happily, not my problem :greengrin But here's a few thoughts :
Clubs and government could issue MUCH sterner warnings, explaining :
1. anyone found congregating on the day of the match will be photographed/identified/arrested and fined.
2. any large gatherings will be dispersed by water cannon incorporating a delightful, semi-permanent Green dye for Sevco gatherings and bright Orange for Celtic fans
3. any signs of significant gatherings before match, game immediately CANCELLED.
4. any significant gatherings during the match, game immediately ABANDONED (score carried over).
5. both clubs told to play/continue the match at an unspecified time & location somewhere in the UK, with Celtic forced to play in blue and Sevco in green & white stripes.
This is a general public health issue and needs to be treated as such. If an OF game produces a potential health/public order risk, then the game should be removed.

Am I missing something. Why would their fans head for Ibrox on Sunday anyway. They've already won the league and had their celebrations so what's so special about Sunday? Far as I can see nothing special about it. Why now, why not end of season or even after the 4th oldfirm. I don't get it and even if fans do turn up I doubt it'll be in numbers like last week so would expect more from police this time around.

There had been meetings between Goverment police and others about Sunday’s game Reassurances were sought Surely someone must have thought if fans congregate a lot will get public transport into city etc
How difficult would it of been to ask the questions what the position with public transport and the suggest to the transport bodies not to
Put on more trains or why’s ever it is is being increased
It’s common sense to me Putvon
More transport and more fans may choose to use it
If the increase was to happen as pArt of plan to get things back to normal ,delaying it a day wouldn’t be the end of the world
The government knew Celtic were going to Dubai and when the **** hit the fan they weren’t happy
They weren’t happy with title winning celebrations
They have sought assurances about this Sunday but I would of thought take no chances and don’t make it easier for fans to travel

AFAIK, it was a decision by the Glasgow Subway, not the SG.
Contrary to popular opinion, the SG aren't in charge of absolutely everything in Scotland, or consulted about every decision, so I'm struggling to see where you get their involvement in this.

Whilst I agree with what he says, is Sevco's whole thing about sectarianism not that even though its their fans doing it in their stadium, they aren't responsible in anyway?
Justin for once I wish a journalist in Scotland would ask them some tough questions.

The usual hypocrisy from Sevco.

That is utterly disgusting. We get fed the mainstream agenda whilst, in the background and totally invisible to us all, one poor soul has lost his life with every indication it is football sectarianism related. This is so symptomatic of the failure of the SMSM to properly reflect the deep rooted sectarianism within Scotland, especially in Scottish football. It also reflects the Scottish football authorities failure to address what is staring them in the face.
What sort of society do we live in that allows this to go unnoticed while we are fed the “don’t look at that, look over here” agenda?

On a similar theme, someone from Sevco management has today said the government should do something about racism on social media - which is fair enough. The hypocrisy of them saying that is beyond belief though. Have they ever taken a look at their own fan social media forums?
