Yes, I would be amazed if we did that. The Jambos are ****ing classless and clueless. They are desperate for cash as has been shown time after time. Their saviour, Anne Bodge, is useless and blows through money on vanity projects and average players like no one else in football. Again, in short yes I would be stunned if we do that

I think the difference is that Hibs have maybe been too honest about how difficult it will be where as Aberdeen have been a bit more vague and said there will be cuts but as a whole has a far more positive feel to it.
Easy for press to read the Hibs one with concern and Aberdeens as a slight bump the way both are written imo.
Hibs spent the lockdown period in Scotland putting out positives and haven't really said anything negative until Monday. Then the Monday announcement was very much in the bracket of "staff need to be made redundant if we are to survive", it is like the club have opted not to tell us the reality of the situation and tried to keep the feelgood factor running and continuing in a business as normal sense. Aberdeen have consistently put out messages saying how they have been affected, so it seems less surprising when this has been asked

Aberdeen do a press release less than 24 hours ago to say that they will begin consultations and the next morning this appears (and its the only outlet running with it).
The timeline seems odd.

Yeah, no way it would be that quick and smooth. Either they have controlled the flow of the information reaching the media or the media have decided to stage it in such a manner. The media have used much more serious and apocalyptic language when describing Hibs situation.
Wouldn't put it past the media to control this so that their "Hibs are bust" story could spread panic and get people talking about their articles and buying their papers. I dislike Trump immensely but he has more than a few things right about the media...

Its possible that Aberdeen actually started the process a lot earlier, but kept it all under wraps (unlikely as that would have leaked out).
I am not sure what to think but I guess if our media guys are all on furlough then its difficult for us to control the narrative with the media.

There’s a lot to be said for having a good relationship with the media and Cormack has been talking to them a lot since he’s been here, that will buy you an easier ride in the press.
As an aside, does the players going back on Monday mean we’re maybe close to having something agreed?

Dundee: John Nelms says 'tough choices' must be made

Dundee must make "tough choices" and have "difficult conversations" after losing half their projected revenues.
Managing director John Nelms said the club lost more than £500,000 because of the early end to last term and face "unsustainable stress" on finances.
The Scottish Championship club believe they have insurance, but must wait six weeks for a High Court judgement to discover if their claim will succeed.
"This is the grim reality of what we are facing," Nelms said in a statement.
Club to reimburse fans with insurance payout
Dundee's iconic run to European semis
"We now have tough choices that must be considered to reduce costs to protect the future of Dundee."
Dundee are not expected to return to league action until 17 October, with significant crowds potentially not able to return to Dens Park for some time after that.
As a result, Nelms said the club's operations were being reviewed and that several "functions may need to pause".
He added that Dundee would now consult with the staff who will be impacted and asked fans to continue buying season tickets to help bring in finance.

I for one will not be paying another penny to Hibs if this is to subsidise a players’ reduction in wages.
Jesus, most players, not only at Hibs get paid thousands of pounds a week.
Hats off to those who contribute to HSL. But we should not go down the road Hearts have done and become reliant on millions of pounds of charitable donations from fans and benefactors.
The millions Hearts have wasted, for no return, obscene.
Loyalty should not come at ANY price.

Yeah he was definitely having a dig yesterday, I can't understand why he is ignoring the ambition of Hearts and where it has got them.
There is a fantastic story there. Mr Benny Factor gives in excess of £9 million and they end up with a wet and windy unfinished stand and relegation. Yet Tom continues to back the Budgie and wants to hear more from Hibs.

it will be interesting to see what the future holds for transfer fees. If we are struggling to get £150k for Kamberi who could possibly have commanded a £2 million fee in the January window then the main guys at Celtic like McGregor, Edouard , Ajer , Forrest etc will have dropped in value as well but you are right that they have saleable assets but the demand might not be what it was before Covid .

We were never getting 2 million for Kamberi, though. Edouard is actually a 25 million pound player, or at least has the potential to be one.
The clubs who are buying Edouard also haven't been affected anywhere near as much as the ones potentially buying Kamberi.

I think 95% of clubs have been majorly impacted- just look at Spurs borrowing £175 million from the government to see their way through the crisis. That tells me that although transfer fees will be paid there will be a lot less clubs in a position to pay £25 million .
Your right about Kamberi burning his bridges and the time left on his contract so with him it is definitely the buying club that holds the aces regarding the fee.

Well, Spurs are an extreme example because they made an absolute mess of building the stadium, it was like 500million over budget and the way it works is that the stadium is their main source of income. They based the whole project around match day revenue.

It's unfortunate that clubs are having to take these sort of measures but they're no different to any businesses which have only limited funds coming in at present.
I'm ok with the temporary route we're going down as the one thing we need to avoid at all costs is being anywhere near a relegation battle next season - hence the correct focus on the first team.

It had been put on hold before Coronavirus. Is that what Cormack is saying now?

Nah, the stadium plan was burn't a long time before Covid. Be lucky to see it built before 2030 and perhaps never. All dependent on a high value for the land at Pittodrie.

You couldn’t find a better location for a football stadium that Pittodrie. Near the city centre, and loads of amenities all round it. The amount of fans that go to the Beach Boulevard prematch is massive
Be better spending money and doing it up, as 3/4 of it is a dump

There’s not a lot they can do there, the footprint is too small. They passed on the chance of buying the old gasworks behind the ground which would have let them rotate the layout by 90 degrees. Stewart Milne even missed out on the land, Barrats built flats on it. :greengrin

You’d have thought they could much improve the Stand we’re housed in, it’s probably bigger than our old East stand, and look what we did with that

I knew Cormack had broached the subject last year but wasn’t sure what the current state of affairs was so I googled it and that’s what came up.

Playing in an empty Easter Road will mean that Kamberi doesn't have the fans on his back. If he doesn't get transferred he could have at least half a season in him until fans return.

I notice Aberdeen annnouncjng today they have raised £5M versus their £10M hole due to Covid...quite impressive. I wonder what our equivalent numbers are ?

I think what he actually said was that they have raised and made savings of £5m. Big difference. Made savings means cutbacks. Raised could be loans, who knows. Let's not use this to best Hibs with. Not saying you have been doing that btw.

Everyone furloughed at the club on Furlough will be getting their 20% wages back when they all return to work. Not sure if the players will get that tomorrow when they are back or will wait till everyone back at the same time to get it back. But it’s in writing that those on Furlough will get their 20% back when they return.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense, if they could afford to pay everyone the extra 20% surely they would have paid it monthly rather than owe a big lump sum when they return.

Also furlough only covered 80% up to 2500 a month. So the difference is a lost more than 20% for almost every player.

Yes so why would the club want to be held to pay that amount in a period when there has been very little revenue?

Costs £7m a month to run Celtic. If there is no money coming in then they will very quickly burn through that cash pile of theirs.

He wasnt entirely clear on this - Richard Gordon said this;
'It hinges on wage cuts' - analysis
BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound presenter Richard Gordon
They're talking about the highest earners taking a temporary cut equivalent to about 15-20%. They had deferrals already in place, and they're going to be paid in full next May. But this is a cut that will last for whatever period of time is agreed.
I think they're hoping to get that black hole of losses down from £10 to nearer £4m, and it would appear it hinges on wage cuts. They're hoping to make no redundancies at all, and it would not affect any employee earning less than £30,000 a year.
It is a wee bit disingenuous to say they have made the savings - until the players accept some rather large wage cuts.............and they are cuts, not deferrals.............then they cant make these savings.

I'm guessing that it applies to the non-playing staff only. The players are on deferred wages for the foreseeable future.
The Club can afford it more now than they could do a few months back, as the final SPFL money is in, and ST sales have picked up quicker than they would have expected back in March.

Exactly. Hibs will have been topping up the furlough payments to meet whatever the various deferral totals were in wages.
The deferred portion of salaries will come at a later date when the club is back on an even keel.
The figure isn't going to be 20% either. JRS pays 80% 'up to £2500 a month'... Every senior player will be on significantly more than that.
Player X agrees a deferral from £8000 a month to £6000 a month = govt paying £2500 and the club adding £3500. Player X gets the £2000 a month he has missed at a later date when the club can afford it.
JRS will be over now that they are back to work, with Hibs paying player X the agreed temporary cut of £6000, while negotiations over further reductions in costs go on.
Surely that's how it works...

Is it possible that any wage reductions are on the condition that all money from the deferrals is paid up?

If not there is no comparison to made if Hibs have actually promised this to their staff.
