Stuart McCall has his 2nd interview today 🤔😃Stendel must have done his research and found out ,there is only one team in Edinburgh that plays fast free flowing attractive football.
Stendel potentially not happening then?

Where did you get that info from? From all the rumours it sounded like Stendel was a done deal.
McCall: "Hello Ann, hello Craig."
Budge: "Derek Adams preferred the team at the bottom of league 2. Daniel Stendel preferred to be unemployed. Do you want the job?"

That wee puff piece just about sums up everything that makes them obnoxious to me. Their belief in their 'specialness' is boak inducing.
"There are clubs that have a special history. There are totally one-off football clubs, and Heart of Midlothian is one of those clubs."
How's that then Gary?
I'm surprised he still bothers to write these application letters. I'm sure every owner phones him up beforehand to tell him not to apply.

Just been 'over the road' on their Stendel thread, and this is the type of comment that reinforces my earlier post
"Bottom line Hearts is a massive opportunity and a shop window.Do well here and Championship clubs in England will come calling."
Where do they get this from? What evidence is there that there's anything other than delusion in a statement like that?
Here's a list of all managers of this very ordinary club since the beginning of the 20th century. Is there a single name in there who went on to a successful career after leaving the 'Special' club?

Don't quickly turn around the clusterfeck of an omnishambles left by Levein and your career's as good as over.
He still has a decent reputation in England but if he comes to Scotland and isn't a big success, his reputation there will be shot.

3 points about that list.
Joe Jordan - is that the Joe Jordan? If so would he arguably be the most successful?
William McCartney managed the club from 1919 to 1935 - what a stretch that is.
Hearts had 4 managers in 2006 alone, in contrast with the previous point.

In my lifetime, Hearts have had one genuinely good manager and that was Jim Jefferies. What he did at Hearts was remarkable. Sure Joe Jordan, Tommy McLean, Sandy Clark etc had them teetering on relegation. Burley was decent too until that lunatic Romanov had a power breakdown. Anyway **** the Hearts

Laughed at this:
Imagine you managed a club the size of Hanover, then a club owned by billionaires comes along and makes you promises, you get them playing the best football they’ve played for many a year, and promotion, which is what they asked of you, then you get **** on from a great height and made the scapegoat for some truly ridiculous decisions made by the board.
The next club that shows interest in you is one run by a old woman who looks like she could be Mr Kiplings wife.
You’re going to ask more questions of her than a game show host as asked, and these things take time.
I think this was posted on KB by a supposed Barnsley supporter.

Budge and Co will know that they simply have to get Stendl in at all costs. He is a very average/uninspiring option, but is better than the likes of Stuart McCall or Neil McCann who are the next in line. The Jambos have their hearts set on Stendl, so she had better land him.
Thank god we got Jack Ross ahead of them :agree:

Take this with a pinch of salt, and I haven't read the thread so sorry if already mentioned but...
I was told last week by a friend of a youth coach at Hearts that Stendel had asked for 12k a week and this is the stumbling block. Budge make it clear that she wanted Stendel after Ross rejected them for Hibs and this has caused an issue with the "fall back" would-be managers who have now told her to shove any negotiations.
So they have gone back to Stendel and said 12k is fine but he can't bring his backroom staff if he needs to take that wage at which point he has told them to ram it...so they don't actually have anyone lined up now hence why their interim boss will be in charge on Saturday yet again.

There is no doubt the ‘Queen’ Ann will do everything to avoid more criticism and spend the fans cash in any way she wants to. It’s her club and her decisions.
£12k per week and therefore at least twice what we might pay someone like Neil Lennon is madness for a club Hearts size and for someone with zero Scottish football knowledge and ok track record.
But she will pay it. As long as she can keep Craig who in turn will want to keep the backroom mob.

Assuming it’s just a matter of time till they announce Stendel as manager, if the rumours about how much money he want’s is even remotely true, the delay is down to Budge trying to talk him down to something they can afford. If he turns out to be a flop, they’ll be in queer street by summer.

Sounds very yammish and plausible to me. I can see them caving in and accepting him bringing his own team eventually, because the natives are restless and they have a sugar daddy who'll swallow the extra financial hit... though whoever it is must be getting a bit nervous by now.

OK, she has more in the bank than me, but is she not a lucky old trout in one line of business. After all, she has built a stand (not yet finished, cost spiralling out of control), arranged a music concert on their pitch which damaged the grass, days before the start of the season and has sacked someone who still seems to be hanging around, calling the shots with his poisonous influence on their club.
No doubt we can come up with others, but is she really Alan Sugar in a ridiculous maroon jacket or is she Lucky Lucan reincarnated?

Most people who become very wealthy do so due to luck. The more enlightened realise this... those like Budge harbour the delusion that anything they touch turns to gold.
Budgie’s bragging in the press about LD and Ron coming to her for advice was yet more proof of what a deluded old fool she is - if any were needed after that absolute fiasco of a building project.
Her infamous ‘Statements!’ also suggest that quite a few people within Hearts think she’s a fool as well. Otherwise, they would edit them before publishing and not expose her to such ridicule.

One does also have to admire the business savvy manner in which she spent all the season ticket money by 30 June and finds herself £4-5m short for the current season.

Major difference is we hire a Head Coach and an Assistant to fit in to our coaching team whereas they are wanting to hire a manager and managers tend to bring their own coaching team.
Is that right? I thought it was a head coach they were looking at too. My original response was based on the sarci comment implying no decent HC/manager would put up with having an incumbent coaching staff being retained following his appointment. I know how our model works. Their model is meant to be similar.

Aye, funded by all that money he made from his trophy wins.
By the end of the current season, the anonymous benefactor will have put in £12m in to the HMFC project. Even if Gary Mackay had also used all his medal money they'd still be short of . . . . . let me calculate . . . . emm . . . £12m.

Aaawww aren't they cute with thier wee nicknames. 1st choice for Hibs, at least second choice for them after Adams turned them down for Morecambe, ****ing Morecambe 😆. And Jack Ross told them to bolt as well. Something about wanting to join a decent club. So even if Stendl takes the job he is at least 3rd choice and looks like he isn't all that fussed either. By any time scale, it’s cringeworthy the time it’s taking them to persuade, beg or con him into taking the job. I don’t believe for a second that even the most in depth negotiations would stretch for more than a week. He must have them sweating, wrapped round his little finger. Yet, once they’ve got their man, the muppets over by will be telling the world about queen Ann’s persuasive negotiating skills and business acumen. A total embarrassment, from start to finish. In the unlikely event of him knocking them back, they will be apoplectic. I’m running out of popcorn. :greengrin
It’s apparently a done deal but not announced as you don’t appoint a manager within two days of a game because it disrupts the preparation. He will be in before the midweek game. Something in the logic is not making sense

All that money. The £1.4m a year FOH, the millions from the benefactors.
And in 5 years what have they got to show for it:-

3. Finishing behind Hibs last 2 years and will be 3 very soon
4. Watch bitter rivals win the Scottish cup while they continue to win **** all

Stand-out lines:
The Tynecastle men are as rudderless on the pitch as off it, and by Jiminy, the footballing low to which owner Ann Budge and her board have brought Hearts is now crater-like.
It feels an act of vindictiveness to have Austin MacPhee limp along as interim head coach with a month somehow proving too little time to make any definitive decision on who should be tasked with mopping up the mess that Craig Levein has created. That mess was laid bare by the awfulness of an Ibrox performance that makes two wins from 15 league games seem a decent return from such a
motley looking crew. MacPhee aligned five of them in defence yesterday. He could have put 55 across the back and they would not have prospered, so beaten down they appear.

Thought I'd go onto the wrong forum. Jambos actually giving an honest opinion. They have seen the light and are rightly raging. Budge seems untouchable though so the soap opera will continue for a while yet, thankfully.

You think there'd be a queue of high profile managers lining up to take over The Famous. I'm flabbergasted they've narrowed it down to Stuart McCall, Neil McCann and a guy sacked from Barnsley for going ten games without a win. The worlds gone mad.

It's strange how many of them think that at 2-0 up they decided to sit back. From what I remember Hibs were the better team for about 75 of the 90 minutes and they were jammy to be in front let alone 2 goals up.

Yup ... That 2 - 2 game is burned into their memories and in typical Jambo fashion its turned into a game that Hibs kicked their silky footballers off the park in and we scored two sponny goals :greengrin
There's a big discussion over Cummings goal with the consensus being that either the keeper was at fault or that Cummings header was a fluke. They should check out the Hibs cup final DVD where Jason points out ( correctly ) that he had scored a goal for Scotland under 21s a few months earlier which was almost a carbon copy of it .... I saw that goal on telly .. the header was exactly the same and the keeper reacted exactly the way Alexander did at Tynecastle ... IE utterly stranded by it.

One of them did admit we were the better team. But the general feeling is that Bartley mauled one of their players and they ended up with only about 8 fit players on the park.

Same with Neil Lennon.
Approaching a high profile manager and being kb’d is fine as it’s better that than someone taking a job they’re not sure they really want. Hearts may be able to get this deal over the line but how long will it be a happy relationship? I’m not convinced at all.

Fair enough. But considering he has been on their radar for about four weeks, has supposedly had two or three interviews and is presently discussing fine details and staffing, you would think he is not entirely the invisible man. Maybe the affairs of the big team have lost their appeal to the media or maybe there’s not as much in the story as we’re led to believe.

I thought Van Dijk was good enough at Celtic but not so good that he’d be one of the best defenders in the world and a huge part of strengthening Liverpool’s defence from being a laughing stock into a unit good enough to win the biggest trophies. I suppose I’d say the same about Robertson at United.
