See Aberdeen lost to that side we beat last week. We don't need to concern ourselves with Rangers this season sadly. On to next week
I sad before Heckingbottom talks a good game, no high press and zero intensity. So far only Jackson and possibly Vela look decent, Newell and Doidge look very poor indeed. Getting lower league gems is all well and good but they have to be gems, getting lower league average players will win you nowt.
Rangers are a decent team but again like Celtic they play with pace and intensity to their game, we seem to plod along trudging water, it's all slow as hell. You cannot play Mallan and Allan together, we lose any bit of graft having both there.
After today I'd say we still need another 3 plus we have Middleton, 2 midfielders and another quick paced striker, I think it's going to be a long long season, keep playing like this and Heckingbottom will be lucky to see November.

As much I thought Lennon was a dick this kind of result and performance would NEVER have happened on his watch, Hecky has taken us back years with these kind of tactics and rank rotten signings

Not at game but my initial thoughts after st Mirren game was that we a lot weaker than last season and we will be back to getting well beaten by old firm
But my worry is we could struggle for top six which wouldn’t be acceptable
Hope am wrong but after his promising start when he arrived ,I think the new recruits plus injuries to Gray Stevenson Boyle and Porteous and minus McNulty and Omenga have made us a poorer team
But next week via Morton is a chance to get this display out our system
But we need a convincing win in that one and a win via St Johnstone ,and a few Quality players in Or it’s going to be a more difficult season than I predicted

Losing 2-1 with 16 minutes to go, to then lose 6-1 even with 10 men is totally unacceptable. Signings have been utter gash. 2 trips to Ibrox and 2 defeats for Hecky.
What tactical change is even remotely possible that makes a team lose 4 goals in 16 minutes? That is players to blame, 100%

Serious questions need to be asked of Hecky and the club.
Are we just becoming a community club where fans pump money into the club and the community foundations to then see their football team get pumped? Can tell them right now our season ticket numbers will plummet swiftly if this is the case.
Recruitment team needs assessed and we need to stop doing a Man Utd where we just sign “good” players but don’t build a team. Newell is a joke tbh. Did he win a raffle to get this move?
Wish we formed a footballing identity. High pressing and passing team etc. We just seem like a mess tbh.

You really are loving it. Mackie cost us today after we’d come back
Into the game and were looking like we might do something.
The writing was on the wall before Mackie got sent off. We had a decent spell but we were not at the races today. Very strange line up and I worry about the new signings and some of the ageing players in our squad. Looks to me like we are unbalanced and Hecky doesn’t know what to do about it.

After years of never fearing the Huns under Stubbs and Lennon we've reverted back to being startled rabbits under Hecky.
Unacceptable.

cool, this board will be quality next wee while
Bad result - terrible start but we were well in the game when Mackie got sent off
Rangers are a very decent side with some good money chucked at them - I think they will run Celtic very close, if not win the league this year
I dont really get the hecky out brigade - we have the points we would have expected so far in the league and we are through the cup as seeded group winners
Yes we got a hiding today - although wouldve been very interesting if we kept 11 on the park

I keep reading about how lucky we are to have him as manager and we will struggle to keep him! He might be able to talk the talk but can he motivate a team? Where has all the McGinn money been frittered away to? Not on a team of born winners anyway.

You cannot play a fullback that looks more awkward than a double decker bus making a 3 point turn against pace and pressing. Never mind the 0 dig in midfield. Shocking.

Embarrassing but not the end of the season , take it on the chin and move on

Abysmal performance. Defence slow as ****, midfield invisible and did Doidge touch the ball? We're severely lacking quality and I'm not confident that allowing our manager to sign more players would actually address this.

What seemed to me the most embarrassing thing today was Hecky giving the impression before the game that we had a strong squad and it didn't matter who played. Honestly don't see it. We should definitely have started with 3 at the back imo.

I get the impression everyone at hibs talks a good game now...owner, chief executive, George Craig, the manager but actually that’s all it is...talk. We are in for a long season. The squad is worse now than we finished the season with.

Rangers dominated the first half, however Hibs gave themselves a lifeline before HT. Hibs started the 2 nd half well, however after Mackies sending off it was always an uphill struggle. We ended up getting pumped by a team who were better, fitter and wanted it more.

Rangers and Celtic have better players than us More resources. Simple as that. It's going to be another struggle this year.

Lennon would've won today then lost to St Johnstone in 2 weeks. Lets see how Hecky and Hibs react to this.
Lennon signed absolute ***** so we've definitely not gone back years.

It was always going to be tough against Rangers who have recruited well on top of some decent players well out of our reach.
Going down to 10 only changed the scoreline, not the result.
Plenty work to do, looking forward to seeing an improving team as the season progresses.

Hibernia&Alba

1-6
34 Hun shots on goal
19 shots on target
Yes, the sending off killed us, but we were very lucky to be 2-1 down at half time.
I fully expected to lose the game, as I said in the prediction thread, but I never thought it would be that bad. It was appalling today, and the new signings looked very short of what we need.
Let's hope it's just a bad day and not a sign of major problems ahead.

Its fine though cause the Yams lost yesterday. Thats all folk on here care about. Serious wake up required cause we are 5th best squad in this league if people want to be dillusional and think player for player were better than puddle drinkers fair enough but take the glasses off. Wenhave a problem if we dont being in more bodies! today we were pathetic. No heart no desire bar 2 or 3. Whittaker will be the usual scapegoat im sure but were just not good enough. newell is hopeless as is Doidge. allan can be as gifted as he wants but no one near him has an IQ its stupidity. Mallans guff aswell. Said it for months can swing a set play in and shoot but hes a zombie for 85 mins (no rangers pun intended)

We were in the game up until the red card. However up until we scored they could easily have scored 6 or 7.
I have real concerns about the recruitment process this summer. I don't see what a lot of them bring and it's not just a reaction from today's result.
We need to win next week in the cup or the knives will be out.

I've been supportive of Heck but that's absolutely shocking. Sevco are a good team and yes we had a man sent off but even before Mackie went off we were very lucky to still be in the game.
The team have no resemblance to the one he's been talking about building and the new guys don't seem to be better than what we have.
Pressure now on big time.

We will still see heckingbottom coming out with some **** about it being a good performance - probably with the sending off as an excuse. all he can and has done is talk a good game.
I dont think he even talks a good game.

I get that, but we didn't. He lost 6-1. We were 2-0 down within 15 minutes. We have *****ed money on people like Doige and Newell who are out of their depth here. Heckingbottom has to turn this around fast and I hope the new gaffer doesn't sit on his hands if it doesn't improve.
I think we look soft, easy to beat, no threat going forward, disorganised at the back and as for being the fittest team, I have seen no sign of that.
I'm fearing yet another Hibs mess,

What a horrible 2 hours. Should have followed my instincts and turned off after the first 10 mins. Can't see Heckingbottom being here much longer.
True, apparently too good for Hibs according to some including ex-Hibs loan players.
Huns have spent a lot of money they don't have again simply to try stop Celtic. If they fail, I can see them collapsing inside themselves. We were bound to come a cropper at their place at some point, but worrying how poorly some of our new recruits have settled in. I'm not a fan of the way Hecky approaches OF games, sit off and hope for the best. Its not what Hibs have done in the last 4 years, which yielded good results.
The biggest problem Hecky and all the players he's brought in have is that they've no credit in the bank from our cup win. He's replacing Hibs Legends, so they're under immense pressure from the start.

Anyone who genuinely thinks today’s Rangers team will push Celtic all the way is deluded imo!
I reckon they will push them close
They are quick, sharp, play good football and have a 30+ goal striker up top....and a more than decent replacement for him in Defoe
They have a much stronger squad this year - i dont think they will drop as many silly points as last year and will give a few teams a right hiding

According to some players/ex players he will be head hunted back south, not after today's result.

6-1 isn't Fenlon, Calderwood, or even Butcher territory, it's downright end of Miller days when Rangers were juiced up with Albertz, Gascoigne and co.

The only positive I can find from this result is that it is a wake up call that we are still a long way off our expectations. We need a few more ‘better quality’ players in at speed.

No and as far as I’m concerned we need a better recruitment team as well. This is going in a very poor direction. How does a club willingly recruit players and end up with our midfield and forward line? Only answer I can come up with is self sabotage.

Beat St Johnstone and i won't give a toss about this. We're not competing with the Huns these days. Look how much Gerrard has spent. Says it all.
