I agree. I don't get it.

Goals.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I’m personally excited about the prospect of goals from midfield, goals from free kicks, goals from corners. These are places we never scored many from last season.

I also trust Lennon to have done enough research to determine if he’s average or not.

I don’t see what’s not to be excited about.

Had a look at the Barnsley forum and they are mostly disappointed to see him go. The general consensus is he never got enough game time but there is a player in there.

For those doubting Mallan, don’t.

I can understand being sceptical as he’s really only done it in championship for St Mirren, but that could have been said about Scott Allan prior to this season.

What I will say is that he is a “hibs” type of player. His touch, vision, skill and goal is exactly what our fans like to see and he will brilliant for us, of that I have no doubt.

Some players suit certain clubs, he is one that will suit us.

That’s a great write up you’ve given him
Haven’t seen much of him to make any sort of judgement myself, but would love you to be right

When St Mirren beat us at their ground in our promotion season he was unreal. Bossed Bartley and Mcgeouch

People talking about him playing number 10, obviously he has goals in him but what's his general play and link up/playing in strikers like?

They say that after every players leaves I think. See link below to another player who left before Mallan...

Don’t care what division those goals were in, 9/10 keepers ain’t saving most of those shots.

As it was said a few posts ago, Hibs/Lennon should be a good fit for Mallan and similarly to Scott Allan, I can see him and Kamberi having a great understanding.

Those goals and assists stats must be up there with the most in all leagues from a midfielder.

He can also take a very good set piece which we were crying out for

He’s also still only 22

I know most will reserve judgement (including me) until they see him play over a number of weeks, but all in all it’s a very exciting signing with loads of potential

Was at that game, just remember how bad we were that day We looked like we were playing in lead boots that night. Mallan looks a very good piece of business and he speaks very well on his Hibs TV interview. Hope he turns out to be as good as Dylan and McGinn etc

only logged on so late to find out if we did get Mallan. now very exited that we did! this man is a fantastic young player. been wasted at Donny, and many of the Doncaster fans will be sad to see him go. he has a real talent and I am sure Lennon will bring the best out of him. 4 year deal, that is great business from Hibernian's point of view imho.

With the possibility of Scotty Allan coming in, I'm wondering if we will end up with too many attack minded midfielders and less grit like what SJM gives us. Boyle, swanny, mallan, SA, Slivka, if Slivka can become more a the SJM type then we might be ok.

We could do with someone like Mulumbu, we were reportedly interested in him and he’s not signed for anyone at the moment.

Him or Glen Kamara would be my, albeit, slightly unrealistic targets

A midfield including Mulumbu, Mallan and Allan would have me feeling very optimistic. I think we'll make a couple of unexpected big(ish) signings too. Very impressed with our recruitment team.

Soso. I'd rather we bide our time and get the right guy. If that means end of the window, so be it for me.

Still. Hibs aren't paying for him IMO, we could do with someone like him though.

Exactly, if we are bringing in someone on a 3/4 year deal, what’s a few weeks wait. The past few years show us Hibs make most of their big signings later in the window.

I agree with this, was slightly concerning and pleasing at the same time. Pleasing as it won’t take him long to get up to speed. Concerning as he looked sharper than some players that have had 2 weeks preseason.

We need to step it up before Thursday, I saw enough to have some concerns. Efe, Mallan, Mackie, Bartley and McGinn played quite well and seemed to be quite sharp. The rest seemed to be a bit leggy and clearly not match sharp. Passing was ponderous and movement was lacking. Mallan seemed to be trying to get things moving quicker when he came on.

Never underestimate a team that has match sharpness!
