It's been poor for a while again. The constant losing for McIntyre and Bayley is crazy since they're two of the best characters they have in the company at the moment. Nia Jax beating Bayley AGAIN is utterly appalling booking.
I've tried AEW but it makes WCW 2000 look half decent.

One of the planned title match is Gunther-Logan Paul at mania for the title. If they have Logan Paul win a main title at mania. I’ll probably stop watching for a bit.

I’ve not watched anything since WWE switched to Netflix, is the Royal Rumble available just for general Netflix subscription, or do you have to pay more?

Steph has said to expect some surprises, I seen a few weeks ago Hogan wants in 😂 would expect to see Joe Hendry, final four on paper would be Cena Punk Rollins Reigns.
Are they still running the bloodline story, can see Cena winning with Rollings screwing punk for runner up.

I've dipped in and out over the last few months and I didn't enjoy last night much at all.
I didn't get the need for YouTubers and part timers in the Rumble itself. Back in the 90s even through the very early 00s there was always a gimmick or 2. 'Here's Bob Backlund', 'Oh look it's Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack' etc etc. It was almost needed then as the roster was pretty small with the talent drain to WCW and all the top guys working almost every Raw and latterly Smackdown. There just doesn't feel a need for it now with the roster the size it is.
The ladder match was dull. It felt safe and there was about one wow moment in the whole thing. I get times have changed and everyone is more aware of risk so you aren't going to get something like the Dudleyz, Hardys and Edge and Christian served up anymore. It was just like two guys guiding each other through a series of works whilst looking after each other though. Obviously every match is essentially that but the skill of kayfabe used to be that it didn't look like that to fans.
So much no selling as well. That seems to be a theme now as if it makes someone look invincible. When every other person does it then it loses any meaning. Topically based on my previous paragraph I recently watched the Smackdown when Foley morphed from Mankind to Cactus Jack just before the Rumble 20 odd years ago. It was a guy changing shirt but Triple H sold it spectacularly. He looked terrified like the fat, beat up 30 something in front of him had just become a monster. To then beat a guy he was haunted by built him into the best heel in the business for over a decade. Contrast that to something like an emotionless Cena giving it 'fine speech' for years and no selling the other guys promo and thus diminishing his supposed threat. So many seems to tend towards the latter now and it hurts the storytelling for me.

Very good points. I feel like every ladder match is the same now, essentially a series of ‘set pieces’, there’s rarely anything new about them.
Another criticism of the rumble matches is seeing new entrant after new entrant enter the ring and immediately attack someone who is on the verge of eliminating another wrestler. I get the powers that be want to have lots of folk in the ring, but ffs have some of them at least try to help eliminate that person almost out, the whole point is to be the last one standing, so getting others out as soon as possible should be the aim. The trope of ‘only one foot touched the ground’ is overplayed as well

Jey winning because fans like doing the ‘yeet’ is awful. That’s why he won.
Punk, Reigns, Drew, Rollins and Cena in it and they have Jey Uso win? What a waste.
Triple H clearly hates Drew McIntyre. He loses every feud, gets beat to roll ups and isn’t allowed a title run with fans in attendance.

If it wasn't for the fact they have always made such a big deal that you main event Wrestlemania, I wouldn't have put it past them to crap the bed like they did with Austin Theory and his Money in the Bank cash in and have Uso go for the IC or US title instead of one of the World titles (though to be fair, I can't remember if that when they had one or two world titles back then). As it is, I reckon they'll have him go against Gunther night one and whoever wins Elimination Chamber go against Rhodes the second night, unless there is a title change before then, of course.

I don't mind the likes of Speed etc being involved, the sheer numbers people like him drive are astronomical so it's purely down to business

Unfortunately I did get the Cena turn spoilt but really enjoyed the last segment and looking forward to see where it goes going forward, I know Reigns and Rock want to work a match together, not sure if WM to soon even though I don't think you need much build to that match with the past they have so maybe summerslam.

Looks like it'll be Cena trashing the crowd on the shows he's at, not mentioning The Rock. Was fine the first week, but expected more than that this week.
I genuinely only see Cena being heel until Mania, where he loses to Cody, then turns back Face again after cutting the lame promo saying how he now 'respects Cody'
Unless there's a change in direction, it's clear Cody wins, Cena goes face again for his last few months. A potential great heel run has got of to a very poor start.

Aye all the power and doors opening promised being the rocks guy doesn’t seem to have been afforded to cena, every time the rocks been involved it’s only taken a couple weeks after for everyone to wonder what was the point in the rock segment it’s the same again here, Cena not even responding to Cody is rubbish as well, I’m starting to wonder if it’s just to stop him shredding Cody on the mic every week making him look bad.

The money would be in Punk vs Reigns with Heyman turning on Punk and going back with Reigns, not watched tv constantly in years so i have no idea the history with Seth and Heyman in the past few months.
Gunther and Jey should have been much better and the fans didn't really seem into it, simple really, little back and forth then Gunther gets some heat on Jey who makes the comeback with the fans getting behind him, i know its a different era and different style they didn't really seem to go all out either, unless its just me expecting to much.
Night 2 looks a better card, no idea how Cena will end, from the past would expect some run ins, i think WWE would want to be able to say Cena was 17 time champ so i think he will win somehow... fans will be pissed if Logan beats AJ.

Don't really care much for Logan and i skipped the other womans match, a huge moment for Joe Hendry to have a WM match, he got a little bit of offensive in and loved the finish and the angle it was shot at with the RKO from no where.
I was pleased to see an old school kind of match for the main event, just a shame most of the fans cheered Cena and booed Cody which would have made it much better if it was reversed with Cena getting booed, not seen any TV since the turn so couldn't say if that's been happening before last night or if it was just a WM crowd, not sure if travis is the next celeb to get into the ring, Cody got a bit of heat back but not sure where it goes from here with him coming out and pretty much costing him the match.

Yeah i mentioned it before, not really read much into it if they plan to still run shows in Mexico or not, or if it is just for talent and the library.
Thought it was pretty poor overall to be honest night 1s triple threat and the ICT match on night 2 being my favourites.
Falling away from it now I think, it’s probably old age but the focus on celebrity grinds my gears and it’s went into overdrive since Netflix, that was pointless for night 2 imo spoiled the match, too many matches to make it the 2 day event takes the shine off it now as well, summerslam going to 2 days as well shows where the business is grabbing as much as possible with no real concerns about how much it’s diluting the product.

That seems to have been what’s been happening with him for a few years. Fell out with Vin Diesel over the Fast and Furious franchise, opened his mouth too many times about Black Adam and annoyed DC, it wasn’t a popular thing that he got himself onto the board of the company that owns WWE and UFC, it doesn’t seem to have been a popular reentry into WWE. It seems that he’s gone from being one of the most popular people globally to having rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way - I could be totally wrong on a lot of that, just how it’s seemed to me.

I’m at the stage where if these celebs etc are going to start getting involved in main events of the biggest ppv then no point watching.
Caught up with it all now, mostly pretty flat overall. The triple threat on Saturday night was not bad, and thought the end of the Randy Orton match was quite funny, if a bit obvious it was coming. He seemed like he was enjoying it, and only found out watching that his opponent was from Edinburgh! Women’s triple threat was ok.
One thing that constantly stood out to me was how light the area was. I generally think it’s better when the arena is mostly dark. Even when they’ve done open air arenas in the past, it’s gotten darker as time passes and the sun goes down, but it was brightly lit the whole time on both nights. Just felt like it lost a bit of the sparkle of the event, only my opinion of course

I’d not heard of him before this match, but he looked like he was really enjoying himself

I only heard about him about a year or so ago, i think his theme music helped him get over more and he was the talk of the internet.
No idea what part of Edinburgh he's from and if he likes football and who his team would be.
Will try and give TVs a chance again, if not be back for backlash.

Aye, I've seen photos of his family in hearts strips. Glad he got battered.

Didn't realise that. Knew he was a Watsons boy. Think he's lived in Leith previously. When he used to do entrances that were piss-takes of his opponents or the town the show was in, at least one of them was filmed on Leith Links. When I briefly lived on Commercial Street, I saw him a few times in Lost in Leith too.
His uncle is the ex-SNP MP Drew Hendry.

Everyone should watch Rock's interview with Pat McAfee. Basically admitting Cena was never meant to turn heel.

Said earlier on in this thread I think. He went to Trinity Academy and was in my year. Might have moved there later on though, don't really remember him until fifth and sixth year.
He genuinely had no interest in football at all at the time. Well, not playing it anyway.

I'm hearing a bit of bumping heads with The Rock and HHH creative wise recently, also there was a rumour that Cena and Travis vs Cody and Bad Bunny.
Was listening to Theo Von with Kevin Von Erich last night which was a cool watch/listen.

Decided to give last weeks raw a chance, Cena trying his best to get booed lol RKO from no where got a huge cheer.
Woman's tag match was decent then Becky turning on her opponent.
Rusev is back!!
Gunther attacking McAfee, surely will lead to a match or something.
Lots of Netflix stars in the crowd and a new show in the summer with the cameras backstage behind the scenes.
This promo with Seth and Heyman should be good.

Funnily enough. Raw last week was better than Mania.
Seth Rollins announcing the Bears pick in the second round of the draft was hilarious.
The draft was in Wisconsin near Lambeau Field, Rollins is a big Bears fan, and was winding the Green Bay fans up like no one’s business :greengrin

Think that was mainly done to write Gunther off TV for a bit. Could result in a match between them as well mind you

You could be right, not seen this week's raw yet. Currently watching some 1997 Raws while getting a few hours on TEW.
Vader vs Bret in the main event with Shawn on commentary, Sid has just grabbed a camera man to come with him backstage, Austin hits the stunner on Bret and Vader with the 1 2 3.
Sid with the powerbomb on Jose Lotharios son onto a table backstage.
Royal Rumble 97 a few weeks away.
I just wish every Raw was available.

Fair enough, suspended with a fine I hope 😁
Hogan and Bischoff involved in some new promotion for freestyle wrestling, no idea who they plan on bringing in as talent if it will be wrestlers not long out of college as I doubt US colleges would be signing off wrestlers for this.
