I just checked on the Hibs ticket page and by adding the dots there are left tickets to sell:
East 5
Famous Five 502
West 1033
Total 1540
So if capacity is 20,400 and assuming hospitality is sold out the crowd currently should be around 18,800. Assuming some seasons ticket holders don't turn up the attendance, allowing for sales up to kick off should be over 19,000. The biggest gate for the redeveloped Easter Road was I think just over 19,000 against Rangers so there is a possibility that could be beaten.
I don't think it will sell out but if anybody is wanting a good seat or together with mates I would suggest buy now and not leave it to the last minute.

Rough calcs would suggest thats £200k gate receipts on top of season tickets.

This, unfortunately. And we would be due two home games against them next season, too.

Good point, if only we'd taken advantage of their *****ness last season & this the wavering Hibs support would've been back in droves & the 200k would be made up elsewhere
Also, another run in the Scottish will offset any losses from the mutants being gone

Sadly very true. Would be a sure fire sell out should we ever draw them in the cup though, assuming they don't get promoted back to the Premier in the next couple of years.

As for lost revenue dont give thhat lotthe satisfaction of worrying about it. Improve under butcher and increased overall attendances will more than cover it

Or get a good team on the park and have bigger gates EVERY week ?
And how much dosh would Hibs have earnt, from Scottish Cup wins, which in 2006 and 2012 may have happened if it weren't for their cheating ?
Good riddance to them and under TB I'm optimistic we'll increase our gates for all games and not worry about "lost" monies through missing that manky, scabby club.

Front tickets are only ever(normally) available in the ticket office not online. You have to ask for them. This is the reason some folk over estimate our crowds. I genuinely believe that there are still around 2800 tickets available for our end

Most of the front rows in the FF and West stands will not have been sold or made available yet. This discussion happens every time. The last Hearts game is a prime example, online it looked like a crowd of well over 17500 the actual crowd was just over 16000. The online sales is an indication of how sales are going not a precise figure. All imho of course.

I agree with you eddie. I tried monitoring crowds using the online system and the actual crowd is usuall 1,000-1,500 less. I don't know why this is. I have heard that around 1,000 fans don't turn up even though they have a season ticket so perhaps that is the main cause of the descrepency.

Then we're really going to see what impact TB can have on this Hibs side. 9/10 Fenlon's teams would collapse into a quivering mess in front of a big Hibs crowd. Let's hope TB can inject some steel into their backbones.

Think we've seen that already tbh. Big test on Thursday... Taking not for granted cos it's a derby but if we go out and play with a high tempo, take our chances then we will be fine. No panic if we don't score right away but it will come.

It's the big Hibs support that will be a first for TB. No coincidence that Hibs have their best performances away from home in front of a few loyal Hibbies. Let's see if he can really get them up for this one when the pressure is on. Last guy who could do that consistently was AMcL.

No it won't be but we haven't had a big crowd yet under Butcher I think he will thrive on it the question I think is being mooted is will the players cope with it or slip back into old habits if going gets tough . butcher has always said baby steps But this game requires a huge leap to remain positive no matter what happens and believe we can win .I have good Karma about this one .but being a derby I am not going to predict a huge win as that is unlikely but am looking for two or three and a hibs win. Maybe he should move Lewis up front and he might bag a hat trick

According to the Online Booking, there's only 20 seats left in the East. Loads left in the West and FF though.
Hopefuly a few more bought over the next two days and the place fills up a bit.

A guy on the bounce said his mate phoned up and the lassie at the ticket office says there are 1.5k tickets remaining:thumbsup:
I'd hazard a guess and say this is excluding the hospitality seats. I know the hospitality packages on offer seemed to be doing well but does anyone have any inside info into how many hospitality seats are left?

We have threads regularly before big matches where people guesstimate the attendance based on the seeming number of remaining tickets. The guesses are almost always way over the number that actually turns up.
Be careful with the "there's only 1,500 dots on the Online Booking so we're gonna get 19,000" line of reasoning. There are well over 1,000 seats in the executive areas and, for some reason, lots of people with STs won't bother turning up.
I'll go with a guess of 17,000 for this match.

I'm with you. Through personal experience and a lot of time counting the dots and guessing on actual corporate sales etc is a total waste of time. However I would say that the attendance will be somewhere between 17,500 and 18,000. The most important thing is that we get all three points this time and a good performance with a few goals would be a bonus.

If capacity is 20,421 and there are 1,500 left, plus 10 hospitality (incredible if true) then we're looking at a crowd of 18,911.
Still 2 days to go though.

Just a note on the season ticket holders who don't bother to turn up comments. Some of us bought seasons to support the club but live abroad so can't actually use them. I've got 3 and if my parents can't make it then there will be 3 seats empty in the FF. If they are there then only 1.

This has been mentioned before, who would we sell tickets to ? Tourists, Hibs fans, Hearts fans ? The problem we would have is that there would be no control over who the tickets were sold too and that could be very dangerous. I can imagine how you would feel if they scored and everyone round you jumped up to celebrate in your part of the ground. Could cause loads of bother if they get to wrong people. Its better the way it is and tickets are 99.9% guaranteed to go to Hibs fans or friends of Hibs fans

I'm predicting an attendance of around 15,500. These will all be in the home stands.
There will be 3,500 'things' in the south stand. Count them as part of the crowd if you will. The fact is that the seats beneath their ***** are far more sentient.

I just want to say the following before posting I don't mean it to come of as cheesey or anything.
this game against them is an important game because it is the first real occasion we as hibernian fc to show the new management and team what we as fans are all about. Yes we lost in that cup final. Yes we have a poor record against them. But the fact of the matter is times change. You have to go through hell before you reach heaven.
I am not saying we will win easily or by a big score. But if we as fans can come together and sing our heart out and come together and get right behind the team then that's all the player and staff can ask.
i urge every fan to go out and buy a ticket. I know it is a lot to ask. Night game, too expensive, cold...
if anyone is on this site during the game who is living in Edinburgh I will be disappointed. We really need to get behind the team
but we love this team. We are this team, we are hibernian fc.

Around 460 left in Famous Five and 710 in West.
Assuming hospitality seats sold out and allowing for some (say 200) non attendance for season ticket holders it looks like a crowd just over 19,000. Late sales (say 500) today and more likely tomorrow could take crowd to 19,500? Tickets are still available sitting together particularly top tier Famous Five or very end top and bottom tier West stand.
So come on Hibbies if you make it and afford and haven't yet got a ticket buy one or more on line and get along and cheer the team on. Remember you can print off ticket at home or buy in person at the club (is it only open tomorrow?)

Looks like we are now definitely heading for our best crowd since stadium redeveloped Just correcting earlier comment when I mistakenly said best crowd ever and someone replied we would need to sell another 50 000 to do that that was when we had the highest terrace in Scottish football .Used to love going right to the top the players seemed miles away .well it is New Year's Day so some Nostalgia allowed

Because it was and is a *****hole, mostly populated by cretins that make your skin crawl, and why would anyone really want to subject themselves to that? Before their laughable redevelopment, you used to have to paddle through pish in that tunnel, while pish dropped down on you from above. When we played semi's there, the terraces in the 'home' would be awash with pish overflowing from their inadequate bogs in the top corner. I know from experience not to take all those claims of almost a sell out and only so many seats in this stand etc etc with a pinch of salt.
However the nearer it does get to a sell out the more folk who haven't got a ticket will want one. It's the nature of the beast.

 but its a fact...there is whole East (including normally held rows a&b) and several blocks in East & West totally sold and several with only a handful left (looks to be less than 1000 left in total) - as has been stated on several posts that does not mean every seat sold will be occupied (Kids / working / bought by distant supporters)
I am surprised myself at how well (aided by new print at home system) they have sold...in fact with TO apparently opening at 12pm tomorrow (allowing tourists still in city to buy with identification) it may well be that those leaving it until an hour or so before game may be disappointed?

Maybe I'm being a bit cautious. I would like to think that it will be a near sell out. The advantage now is that anyone (provided that they are on the database) who gets up tomorrow morning and wants to go to the game should be able to log on to the Hibs site and hey presto print their ticket off while finishing off their cornflakes or Cheerios.
Looking forward to the match already.

Why?

01-01-2014, 04:39 PM
Why?
Lots of reasons. The atmosphere can be a lot louder (some folk will have v. Young kids), people are more likely to be tanked up and obnoxious, higher tension leads to more swearing etc... etc... add to that it's a night game and there's lots of reasons to not take kids to tomorrow night's game.
Keith_M
01-01-2014, 04:42 PM
Why?
That I don't know but a few people have mentioned it on here and I have friends and relatives that don't take the kids to Cat A games. Have a look at the FF Front tomorrow and you'll see hundreds of empty seats.
Each to their own but I can't help thinking they're missing out on the best matches of the season.

Malmo home there was a pretty decent crowd right?
down-the-slope
01-01-2014, 04:57 PM
Some young kids might enjoy the atmosphere but some might be intimidated by it. Even at the St Johnstone game the other week, there was loud booing for a while after the whole Robertson booking/free-kick episode and there was a wee girl in front of me who was holding her hands against her ears for the rest of the first half - looked like she was a bit unsettled by it. So I'd imagine being at a derby could be worse, and some kids might be better off at home if they're going to be nervous or frightened.
I didn't take my girls to the 6 Cat A games when they were small - for reasons above...brings out the worst in some ... and brings out some who are the worst
Also remember there were Kids ST's bought by a good number before deadline last season, in FF lower, just to qualify for cup final tickets... they have never / are rarely been used....bad form really....
Still next season the loyalty system will sort out these types :agree:
