Is it not the case that use of a season ticket is limited to the season ticket holder and that means not giving it to someone else?
But lets be honest, if we can't make it for any reason I'm sure plenty people give their card to a family member or friend.... especially when you've splashed out over £400 f a season ticket, and in our case over £1300 for the whole family, so technically we shouldn't give it to someone else ....but we will...

This post is about hospitality rather than shop but interested in peoples opinions. I bought two tickets for hospitality for derby on 27th dec (also our anniversary) as a treat for my wife and I. I had to pay full price for her and discounted price for me. But then the club came back to me and said that my normal seat would be released for general sale. This is a problem as I go with my young son and another family member would take him on the day in my place. The club came back and said I could keep my seat and forfeit the season ticket discount.

This does not sit right with me. The discount is marketed as a benefit of buying a season ticket and there is no mention of being required to trade in your existing seat to get it. This info is only being communicated after you purchase hospitality and is in the small print in the conditions.

Effectively for a cat A game you have to release a seat worth £30 to get a £20 discount for hospitality. I do not think this was the case last season but others will know for sure. Imo the club should be front loading this information at the outset and not misrepresenting the discount as a benefit as an enticement to purchase your season ticket.

Do not get me wrong this was not what swayed me ultimately to buy a ST but an advertised benefit is something that should have no strings attached. Paying the extra £20 is not the issue either but more the principle and the feeling that the club has been a little underhand trying to wring out every last ounce of revenue at the expense of valuing customer loyalty.

We have all but decided to pull the plug on it and go for 2-3 nice meals in restaurants instead. Interested to know others experience and thoughts on this. I hate having a negative feeling about anything to do with hibs at the moment and maybe I’m just being a grumpy old man.
Think it’s fairly reasonable by the club. I wouldn’t expect to retain ownership of two seats if the club is offering you a discount on hospitality.

Btw you paid less than £30 for that seat for a Cat A game through your ST. That seat is only worth £30 to you if you were planning on re-selling it… In doing so you’d be doing Hibs out of money. Not the other way around.

Isn’t really a technicality. Either the club allows it or they don’t.Although if they don’t I don’t see how they can stop anyone doing it.

Its called ticket transfer and you can transfer your ticket free of charge to a friend or family member. You can also release your ticket and the club will give you a portion of the re-sale only when all-other available tickets have been sold (less clear about second point). You can find this info on website.

I must admit I’ve never heard of this free ticket transfer thing before.

Do you have to tell the club if you transfer it to someone?

Is there a 150th anniversary range of gifts and accessories? Would love to see the 150th badge available as a pin badge in silver or gold.

My understanding is the discount is because you've already paid for a seat. If you want to still use your seat, you shouldn't get the discount. That would be a case of having your cake and eating it.

Appreciate your response but don’t really agree.

Think we can pass the ticket onto another person if we are not going to attend.. again I could be wrong.

The club are not offering me a discount to use another seat. They marketed a benefit of purchasing a ST as gaining an entitlement to a discount on hospitality.

Initially i bought this last year but had to cancel due to work commitments. There did not seem to be a requirement then to release the seat, nor the year before when my son was a mascot and we were relocated to the west.

I bought the hospitality not because I felt it represented good value for money but because I wanted to give something back to the club. (A different seat, 8 drink maximum and 3 course meal for £175 (£195 without discount) is not imo great value.

I am convinced this has been introduced this year and has been poorly communicated. If it had been more upfront then I think there would be no issue.
It’s been the case for years.

I’ve had a look on the website. There is info re giving the club the ticket to sell which I did when I couldn’t go to a derby game but I don’t see anything about transferring it for someone else to use.

Aye, the ticket exchange scheme is different. There never has been any right to transfer your season ticket to anyone else though obviously it happens

Maybe what has changed this year is they are tightening up by releasing the seat so the ST becomes invalid. If that makes sense.
Edit. I’ve just noticed this is for a Derby match. Of course they are going to release the seat.

May have been the case as the Rangers game wasn't sold out that night.

    Well you learn something everyday.
You’d still be able to do that then if you passed on the discount.

I refer you to the menu on the website, help section and ticket transfer.. in previous seasons the release of your seat did not happen as pointed out by another poster. You could enter it into ticket exchange or transfer it..

Exchanging it meant a 50/50 split between club and st holder if it is sold.

The 10% discount for hospitality was a benefit of buying a ST and has absolutely nothing to do with ticket exchange but that is effectively what it has become this year, with this only becoming apparent after purchasing hospitality.

I think that is wrong, many think it is correct or obvious. Each to their own.

Interestingly if you read the club customer charter it states ST holders are entitled to access to a pre season friendly free of charge. So far that does not seem to be the case. Whether people agree or not there is definitely an erosion of the benefits offered for purchasing a season ticket without the changes being effectively communicated.

Not when my son was mascot at hearts v hibs when we won 1-0 and Nisbet scored. We sat in the posh seats in the west. My brother in law and nephew sat in our seats. Jonny has also posted a similar experience. I also evidenced it was never mentioned when I previously bought hospitality for hibs v hearts last season. What makes you say so definitively it’s been the case for years as it does not seem so.

Just to note that was just 1 example. I normally do hospitality with friends once a season and pretty much every time someone uses my season ticket. Never had any issues. If they will now re-sell your seat it's a relatively new thing

The relevant section posted by marinello. To find on website you need to click the menu button, then tickets, then 3 bar menu top left, then need help tab and scroll down. Easy 😂

They are maybe only enforcing it now but it’s been in the T&Cs for the hospitality discount for years.

I think you've been hard done by mate trying to book your hospitality , folk saying the club are right to behave the way they have I think that's wrong. St holders should be rewarded and customer service should at the forefront of the clubs decisions, neither has happened in your instance.

The discount on hospitality is not a ‘perk’ or a ‘thank you’ for being a ST holder, it’s because you’ve already paid for your seat. If you plan on using your seat, you have to pay for another one.
