Ultimately only Shankland, Hearts and HMRC will know what his salary is if he chooses not to disclose it publicly I’d imagine. I do like the idea they’re paying a guy that’s had two quality season in the SPFL at the age of 29 (with the rest of his seasons in professional football either being a very very average premiership player or a good striker in the championship) over £15,000 a week for three years though. So I’m going to choose to believe that this is the case.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we know one way or the other by Wednesday next week (during which time Triantis will have been keeping fit by training with EPL players, so no huge concern to wait a few days)

Reason I think Wednesday is:
Sunderland back today - Triantis will be a relatively low priority conversation for the manager as he'll want to integrate/welcome his big new signings as top priority
Nectar has a few days training to see if he can make an impression
Reckon by Tues/Weds the manager will be saying to him if he's in the plans or not
And if I was Triantis I would have wanted to pitch up on day one and show what I can do, to see if it gave me a shot at the lucrative league
So I think we'll be lucky to hear clarity before wednesday but at least NT will be keeping fitness and sharpness right up during this period

200k and 2m are quite a large way apart on initial valuations. I'd find it hard to see us getting close to spending 7 figures on him personally.

Triantis and to a lesser extent McCowan last summer at least were very known quantities to us. We seen them in this league against our opposition weekly and knew they could cut it. Nectar even more so can fit in with the squad because he's done it already.

Shifting that resource on into another player isn't as simple in my mind.
