    I disagree.

Another poster made the Rangers liquidation comparison earlier and as I said then it doesn't stack up. Of course it was funny seeing them go under (I was also desperately hoping Hearts would disappear around the same time) but as you say nobody was wanting the people at the club to die as well.

This is entirely different. Its enemies hate Israel with a ferocity that makes any football rivalry seem utterly trivial. They want it erased from the face of the earth and I think anyone who witnessed the way the chant was delivered understands completely what Bob Vylan were calling for. Death to the IDF means death. If they'd meant 'disband', 'abolish' or 'reform' they could quite easily have said so. Wouldn't have carried the same shock value though.

I've just noticed that their US visas have been revoked for their forthcoming tour.
I would agree in that I do actually believe Pascal Robinson-Foster did actually mean death to the IDF. But I do think the fact that some people think that and some don't proves their is indeed ambiguity about it.

Telling that some politicians are more outraged by utterances to kill than the actual killing of innocent men, women and children.

If they do manage to take any seats, i just hope that politics in the UK take a leaf out of the German parliament's book and form a firewall. All parties in Germany have agreed not to work together with the AfD and so far it is working. I have my doubts though, the Tories have become far right in everything but name and Labour have filled the vacuum left by them. We live in interesting times.

They already won five seats in last year's general election plus they control around a dozen local councils.

Do you really struggle to see it?

When rangers were liquidated I was desperate for Rangers to die. I couldn’t wait and said as much over and over again. I wasn’t wanting their players, manager, staff and supporters dead though.

There’s plenty ambiguity. It just doesn’t suit your argument to admit that.
    What argument?

I'm not arguing the rights or wrongs of the chant, just pointing out that it's perfectly obvious what he meant. He also tried to start a from the river to the sea chant, commonly acknowledged as a call for Israel's destruction.

If an equally fervent pro-Israel artist chanted death to Hamas would anyone be debating the nuance? Would they think oh hang on maybe they're calling for electoral reform in Gaza (where Hamas have been in uncontested power since 2006)? Unlikely.

So they disband the current IDF and then what? Hold interviews for the new reformed IDF where applicants have to pass tests about how nice people they are and how they will be kind?
Yes, because that’s what the did with the PSNI.

The BBC should book them for a gig to show their "impartiality".

Might not be the right place to post this but not sure where else would be appropriate. A couple of Hibs themed pro Palestinian stickers have been floating about in social media today. One is tame and the other… ooft. Will attach the fairly nice, family friendly one which was spotted in a Hibs supporters club in Cork (according to Facebook, I’d imagine it’ll just be the pub a group of Cork Hibees congregate in rather than a proper brick and mortar supporters club though happy to be corrected). The other reads “Hibs” alongside the names of three proscribed organisations that also begins with the letter H, with the image of what looks like a post-GFA or post ceasefire IRA man. That one was spotted in Edinburgh today apparently. Yikes.

    Bob Vylan statement

    Couldn’t agree more.

We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine,” the duo said on Instagram. “A machine whose own soldiers were told to use ‘unnecessary lethal force’ against innocent civilians waiting for aid. A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza. We, like those in the spotlight before us, are not the story. We are a distraction from the story. And whatever sanctions we receive will be a distraction.”

Punk duo Bob Vylan have been dropped from the line-up of a music festival in Manchester following their controversial appearance at Glastonbury.

The group had been due to headline at Radar Festival on Saturday, but a statement from organisers, external confirmed they would no longer appear.

“From the river to the sea” has always had multiple interpretations depending on who’s saying it and in what context—ranging from calls for equal rights and a single democratic state, to more militant interpretations. It is not as simple as saying it is commonly acknowledged as one single call for Israel's destruction.

I think it's probably fair to say that in the current climate it's the more militant interpretation which holds sway.

Or the airhead interpretation as shown on (I think) CNN when they asked a group of US college campus protesters which river and which sea they were referring to and were met with blank faces.

Do you think you need to have a detailed knowledge of all things Isreal/Palestine to be allowed to protest what's happening?

It's hardly 'detailed knowledge'. Seems a bit daft to not know what you're chanting about.

I grew up a massive Disturbed fan, but this definitely made me re-evaluate that fandom and how I perceived Draiman. I can absolutely exist in a place where I don't agree with every opinion or perspective an artist has, as I understand a lot of people currently do with Kneecap/Bob Vylan/Massive Attack etc etc...but signing a bomb that would ultimately be dropped on innocent civilians is completely beyond the pale IMO.

While the musical style might not be to your (or other's) musical taste, check out the lyrics of 'Can I Have Your Autograph' by Stray from the Path - written specifically about Disturbed and Draiman.
