3 days into a holiday in a small 23 bedroom adults only hotel in Croatia. Really quiet and peaceful, pleasantries at breakfast and around the pool then everyone just gets on quietly reading, sleeping, etc. 2 hours ago ‘Kat and Alfie’ arrive. Within 10 minutes a very large parasol which has been up permanently since we arrived because of the current heatwave has been put down, 2 large sunbeds moved which were under the parasols for that very reason. Other terrace furniture moved so they could get the beds where they wanted them and of course all with the loud London accent so everyone could hear. They stay for about 30 minutes, get up and leave, leaving everything behind in their wake. Hopefully they head to the beach tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Not a peeve just a nice story. Been having polite chat for a couple of days with a couple from Peterborough staying in the same hotel as us. Sitting tonight having a drink in the town and they stopped to say hi. Ended up having a couple of drinks with them and naturally the chat got round to football. He’s a Peterborough supporter. He asks us who we support and when we said Hibs both him and his wife immediately said “really, the Sunshine on Leith team”. Turns out they’ve watched the you tube videos of various renditions and said it’s iconic and their favourite football anthem. No connection to Edinburgh or Hibs at all but knew all about it.

Mentioned by PB on another thread but the cost of flying from Edinburgh is getting more and more expensive and has never really come down since Lockdown
Well worth considering flying from Glasgow Newcastle or further afield as the savings especially with a young family can be considerable and help to reduce the cost of your holiday
Edit :
Spoons in Edinburgh Airport isn’t cheap 😀

Might be a controversial opinion (and one of the few times you’ll hear me saying something positive about Glasgow), but I think Glasgow airport is better than Edinburgh airport. More food options, and I like the drive through during the night for early flights. Edinburgh feels so busy and too many people in such a small building

I’ve used it a few times in the last year or so and it’s been so congested every time. Busy is fair enough, it’s an airport, but it’s overwhelmed."...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

Looking at flights to Tampa from Edinburgh, using Google Flights and it's offering me the option with BA - Edinburgh to Heathrow, get yourself and your luggage to Gatwick, Gatwick to Tampa.
Why would anyone want to do that?

Rude ****ers who don't wait until it gets to their row to disembark the plane and folk who get dressed standing at the conveyor belt in security. Move away and return the tray when you're finished. Basic common courtesy and etiquette!!!

Logistically it can't handle the very biggest planes now, Glasgow has the only Scottish A380 flight for example. Not because of runway length but because of taxiways and other infrastructure being insufficient. That's probably not a huge issue as it can still comfortably handle the likes of the 777 (albeit using ALL the runway) and A350 so can service the long haul routes. Internally it's just a mess and every half baked refurbishment down the years has just made it more and more cramped. That section round where All Bar One is and I think gates 12-16 is just ridiculously unfit for purpose. It's so tight and there are often busy transatlantic services leaving from those gates so if there are multiple departures at similar times you have 6-700 people in an area that can comfortably accommodate about half that. The walkway between there and the main drag of the departures area is so tight as well.
I read someone recently saying that people and airlines would rather fly into Leuchars than Glasgow or Prestwick because it's east coast. Obviously an exaggeration for impact but the trajectory is one way, Edinburgh is our busiest airport and it's not slowing down. On the one hand you would hope that would provide the incentive and finance for Edinburgh to really push ahead and either build another terminal or massively revamp what they have. On the other they might be thinking they have no real competition as it is so why bother.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

Ranger's fans abroad. Currently in Egypt and, after a couple of days, my son spotted an adult hun in full kit striding through the lobby. My lad was wearing a Hibs top and the look the guy gave him was like he'd pissed in his beer! Seen another one this morning resplendent in 2015 away top and orange shorts being obnoxious, and racist, beside the pools - just becuase he'd been told the Rangers Bruges friendly on Sunday won'tbe shown on the hotel telly! Can't escape them!
