    Possibly, but their margin is increasing significantly. Was it not a 30% rise per unit last year. That’s one helluva increase

    I find it incredible that the increase goes to the retailer, and not back as a tax

    There was little opportunity for taxation, though.

    All the taxes involved (VAT, Corporation Tax, alcohol duty), on the supermarkets and large retailers, are reserved to the UKG.

    The only slight departure from that would be the small independent retailers who are unincorporated and pay Income Tax.

    I’m not doubting that, just topping up muti million Retail giants isn’t the answer
    I like the idea of the “government shops” though

    We might have this conversation in 20 years. It's too soon to have it now IMO.
