Nisbet would surely go back to Aberdeen if coming to Scotland again.

Diallo the Man United winger. Failed at Rangers really but has been probably their best player this season and would be picked up by most clubs in the world if offered to them.

I’d have expected Rocky and Hoilett to have signed by now if they were going to do so. I suspect they’ll be moving on. Triantis a different scenario but that could run until end of the transfer window. I’d be willing to wait for him though.

We definitely need more forwards players through the door ahead of Europe.
We need to submit a squad list by 18th July, for the round of Europe we are in, so not a huge amount of time for Q2 round. Hopefully moves start soon for Europe, as you say.

That's assuming they want him. Probably put them off him with his billy big baws attitude.

I'm beginning to be concerned about our squad.

First European game is roughly 4 weeks away and first league game about 5. We're currently in the position where we appear to be down by Kukharevych, Triantis and Rocky (and Hoilett and Gayle) and no ready made same-standard replacements.

It is going to be far from optimal if we end up failing to hold on to these players, or failing to replace them with quality or replace them late in the window with no time to gel before we are into important matches.
See where you're coming from, a little tetchy too. For balance though we have brought in Manneh, McGrath and Sallinger with the prospect of a fully fit Newell and possibly fit and motivated Youan to add to the team that finished last year. Youan situation is anyone's guess though. Malotnikov could step up this year too.

Ideally re-sign Rocky, Hoilett and Triantis then 2 strikers and we're done. I don't think Hoilett needs replaced if he doesn't sign, Rocky and Triantis would both need replaced which will be a tough ask. 4 or 5 players all in. Good that it isn't major surgery

I get the impression that he doesn't care who he plays for as long as it pays. We should be all over getting him back given our lack of striking options.

I think if we were to go into our game tomorrow I would agree, but as you say we have a month until our first game and a full pre-season camp between now and then.

I think the reality of the situation is that we will be looking to now replace Myko, Rocky, Gayle and imo it's incredibly likely that we'll not retain Triantis as well. Hoilett is less of a must replace because of McGrath coming in.

As far as a starting XI goes though we're not exactly short on options.

    Smith/Sallinger

    Cadden
    Miller/O'Hora
    Ekpiteta
    Iredale
    Cadden

    Newell/Manneh/Levitt/NMW

    McGrath/Campbell

    Boyle/Youan
    Bowie

There's definitely work to be done, most notably is to probably replace Rocky and add a striker. But beyond that I would say we still have the the makings of a team that should still compete.

At the moment I'd say we are substantially weaker than when we finished the season. We have work to do - quickly - just to stand still. Then we have more work to do to actually improve the squad on last season and to meet the demands and impact of Europe, particularly if we were to somehow make group stages. I don't think our financial position is making this any easier a task. We had a bloated squad and they wanted/needed to thin it substantially, it may take a while before we escape the impacts of the tail of that process.

First time I saw him play for Man U last season I googled to make sure it was the same player, looked miles away from the player seen at Sevco.

i think the easiest thing is to agree that you both have different opinions of Montgomery. It’s fine to have different opinions.. you are also both Hibbys.. love football and hate the Rangers. You have more in common than you have different. Peace brothers

Agree. It's the potential Rocky and Triantis shaped holes in the team that are the biggest challenge. Fix those and everything else starts to look more manageable, though good strikers don't grow on trees either I guess.

We're definitely weaker than when we finished the season but that's purely because two of our best players from last season aren't at the club anymore. But as someone else said that level of where we're at compared to other years is quite a bit ahead of previous windows. We know what we have to do and the window is long.

Also in regards to the the European demands, I would rather we didn't rush anyone in the door that wasn't right just so they were here for the first two games that will be a huge ask to overcome anyway. We have to live with them as signings for the whole season or beyond and rushing for the sake of what could be just 4 matches could be a mistake imo.

No reason to panic, work to be done for sure but we all knew that.

    Hearts after Nisbet

Would take him back in a heart beat. Cant see us having 3 strikers of Bowie, Nisbet and Boyle though

I'm not saying Nisbet but I'd hope for Bowie, Boyle and someone of real quality. If we want to continue to improve I'm doubtful we are just looking for bench fillers.

Non-Hibs but Liverpool have signed Kerkez from Bournemouth. Nothing lasts forever of course but it's a little sad to see Andy Robertson getting pushed out the door at Anfield. I imagine this will be his last season (if he is even still at Liverpool at the end of the transfer window)

Yes, which is why I'm only beginning to be concerned. I'll save going full bedwetter for a good bit yet.

    Yeah true tbf

Think with Bowie too he still had a bit to prove in terms of fitness and playing at the level we’ve seen from him but when he starts games

Wonder if Rocky is getting strung along by a couple of teams hence him not making a decision about if he’ll stay or not

Surely we need another 2 strikers though? We realistically need one who's a nailed on starter to fill mykos boots and then maybe a rotational one. That one could be the older pro who can't play as many games kinda type.

  27. #4526
Some teams seem to be signing players left, right and centre.

I know the club always talk about quality over quantity and getting the right ones and whatever. And a lot of the time I think it is just that, talk. But this year it really is the case for us IMO.

Rocky and Triantis’ positions need sorted sooner rather than later. But I don’t feel, for a change, we need to be doing anything daft.

As long as we’re not getting strung along ourselves. We can’t just be waiting at this point. If he decides to stay then fair enough but we must be looking at alternatives.

    Yeah think we’ll need 2.

Also think we could be doing with more pace in the team, especially as Youan is likely to leave

Are we all forgetting Mane came in in January and didn’t really feature? He’ll be like a new signing and could fill the Triantis hole.

By all accounts he was getting up to speed with the pace of our game but I liked the look of him vs rangers

  31. #4530
Triantis is one of the few cases where - if you were the club officials at Hibs - you'd be saying:

"What's the best thing for you as a player
    - in a World Cup year you need to be playing and we'll give you that
    - your team mates include your international team mates so you know you'll be noticed if you're playing well
    - while Sunderland might not play you this year (putting the World Cup off the table) the % says they'll be relegated and might need you/want you in the following season (26/27)
    - so how about either (i) Hibs buy you for £1.X million OR (ii) we loan you for a season, to put you in the World Cup spotlight, for the vital year 25/26, and we all get back round the table in May 2026 to see how Sunderland have done, if they want to sell or keep you then.

Would work for Hibs, Sunderland and (if he's up for it) it works for Triantis - he has the certainty of knowing where he'll be playing this season and that his international boss will be getting reports
