Behave mate … Disastrous league cup campaign ?

He wasn’t in the starting 11 v Kelty.

Had he started I guarantee we wouldn’t have lost that game and then wouldn’t have drawn Celtic

We destroyed everyone else when he was playing in the group stage.

Behave mate, not getting out of a group of elgin, kelty,qp and Peterhead as a seeded team is disastrous

Liam Millar at Hull City perhaps

Bad injury last season, don't think he's meant to back until the tail end of pre-season so would be a fair bit behind everyone else. I don't think it would be him.

We did get out the group, that’s how we played Celtic in the next round

Aye and pointed out a guaranteed win at kelty if he started!!!! A good captain doesn't lead his team to a disastrous league Cup section and the bottom of the league

Newell's record in the league cup section was 9 points out 9 so couldn't be further away from being disastrous for the part he lead. 100% blameless for the Kelty game when he didn't spend a single minute on the pitch.

Blatantly obvious you've taken a dislike to Joe and won't move on that. He's a good player that contributed to our good run, quite a lot actually. It was 'only' 5 games, but the hardest part of getting there was winning the first few games when we were in a slump. Joe wasn't just there for those games, he was massive in a few of them. Aberdeen 3-3 he was very good, could have scored 2. He's also been playing through an injury for a decent amount of time, not mentioning the off field calls he made to help turn us around.

Joe has been a good captain in his short time so far and a good player for us over his Hibs career, albeit a bit inconsistent

You’ve ****ed it and are trying to backtrack.

    Pretty painful reading

I haven’t always been in the Newell camp and have questioned him being captain in the past but ….

I’ve changed my opinion of him . I do think he can be inconsistent at times though there’s never a lack of effort and having read Gray saying how willingly he was to play through the pain barrier as he had a injury .I think that shows the character of the guy as well as the leadership he brings to the rest of the squad ….

In truth I think we are lucky to have him and hopefully he’s back raring to go for the new season.

No disrespect to anyone though I hope we make a signing soon which might lighten the mood on here.

How can you guarantee that considering over 90 minutes we had previously

    - failed to beat Stirling Albion with Newell starting
    - failed to beat Cove Rangers with Newell starting
    - failed to beat Falkirk with Newell starting
    - failed to beat Morton with Newell starting

City agree 12m deal for Nypan, looks to be a steal from them who is very highly rated.

It may have been mentioned already, but ex-Hibs loanee Egan Riley joins Marseille on a free transfer from Burnley. Joins a proud tradition of players to have pulled on both shirts, also including Steven Fletcher and Franck Sauzee.

Good (ish) player, poor captain, Boyle is a much better Hibs captain. Fin

Can we get better ? Of course we can, do we need better ? probably, but he is nowhere near as bad as you are trying your damnest to portray.

Not seeing any news on the Vente transfer front? I was hopefully the move to Heerenveen would have gone through, but it seems all quiet. Surely the mooted 2 million euro fee would cover Triantis's transfer and signing on fee?

If we get Triantis back, I would say we have the strongest midfield, outside of the Old Firm, good strength in depth in all positions across the five.

It's a no brainer to splash out on Nectar. He's already shown what he can do and will only improve with experience. I'm not sure where his ambitions lie, but regular football in a good performing side like Hibs, it's the best place for him to develop.

Window doesn't open until tomorrow. The Heerenveen interest is a rumour, there's no confirmation of any bid yet.

I would hope with Triantis we don’t let it drag on as we did with Luke McCowan. He’s one I really want us to sign, but if it doesn’t happen I’d like to think we have a suitable replacement in mind.
