Brian Wilson! His music has been with me my whole life. Lucky enough to catch him many times and he's been ill for a long time. RIP..

This one hits hard. I'm lucky to have had the Beach Boys featuring in my youth.

That’s a sore one. Genius and tortured soul. The version of Smile he finally released in 2004 is just sublime, one of those albums I frequently play from start to finish.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
    He'll die before he's sold.

Saw him a few days after the Cup Final in 2016.

I don't think I was the only one in the Usher Hall that night silently singing my own words to Sloop John B.

Very sad. A true musical genius. Just listened to a wonderful tribute on 5 Live from Dr Joe Bennett. RIP Brian. One of the greatest of all time 🙌

I saw Brian Wilson headline the Pet Sounds Arena at T In The Park in the mid 2000s (2007 maybe). He was well past his best as a live act by then but he still had a real presence and held the crowd captive for his whole set.

Thinking back the line up that year was absolutely brilliant across every stage and he was my absolute highlight. So many other people made reference to the fact he was present during their own sets.

Same - a moving and life affirming couple of hours.

Love and Mercy to a true musical genius

    Aww man RIP Brian.

My dad introduced me to the beach boys when I was in my teens, in particular Pet Sounds. “Listen to that instead of that rubbish you normally listen to” Ohh wow! Never heard anything like it and from then on only ever listened to stuff my dad gave me.

God only knows is a work of art!!

I think McCartney said they had to come up with something special to compete with Pet Sounds and it inspired them to write Sgt Peppers. High praise indeed.

Nitzer Ebb's Douglas McCarthy dead at 58 from likely liver cirrhosis. As an industrial fan these guys were massive in shaping my musical tastes as a teenager. Devastated.

Woke up to Good Vibrations this morning and the news that Brian Wilson had died.

Listened to Pet Sounds on my walk today. A work of genius.

Went down a bit of a Beach Boys rabbit hole tonight and ended up starting a documentary on The Wrecking Crew. Incredible stories if you’re not familiar. It’s on YouTube.

Saw that a while back. Made by one of the WC's sons. Sadly not a huge amount of footage but the stories and the story of them is brilliant.

It's up there with "In the shadows of Motown" The "Funk Brothers" story.

That news saddened me. I really liked him , he seemed like a decent kind of a guy despite some of what I'd assume he have to put up with during his life
